The Josh Smillie Thread
Smillie looks a bit slow and looks a reasonable but not outstanding kick. Cripps and Tom Green are similar players but they obviously have elite reflexes and decision making skills. It is hard to determine if he as at their level in terms of ball winning and disposal in tight.

Roffey really did herself no favours with the SEN interview, making it seem as though she has not had any contact with Trac. But Trac's own words in the MFC video indicate this is not the case. Trac also indicates he was getting a lot of messages of support after the injury from people within the club.

He should put out a statement if it is all media beat up. That Goodwin, Pert and Roffey are all struggling to answer the question of "Does Petracca want to play elsewhere?" is a pretty good indication that there is truth to the media stories.- Christian Petracca
Yes and no. He is a great footballer and very good looking and a very good cook. But he isn't Hollywood good looking or a Michelin chef. Brand Petracca works only because he is a great footballer and AFL supporters are much more loyal to their clubs than other codes.- KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
There are first rounders and first rounders. He is worth about 2,400 index points and even then I think we are getting the rough end of the pineapple. If WCE offer pick 3, it is in the realm of fair, but I still would not like the trade.- Christian Petracca
Trac is getting some really bad advice right now and is obviously not in a good frame of mind. If Trac wants to save Brand Petracca, he needs to kiss and make up with Melbourne. If he leaves, all the stories about his historical behaviour will come out which will make him seem weird and selfish, and he will be booed by all clubs' supporters like JHF for being disloyal. Plus, he has got to realise that Melbourne can't given him away cheaply. If we do that, key people at the club in positions of power at MFC would lose their jobs for being spineless. Lamb, Richo, Pert, Roffey would all have to go.- Christian Petracca
Well answered by our fearless leader. Maybe Max can take on the roles as President and CEO as well as AFL superstar.- 2024 All Australian Squad
Maxy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Christian Petracca
Yes but she exposed herself as not being on top of the issue and caring enough for the player. I don't think Roffey did any harm with the club/Petracca relationship but she put more pressure on herself (and the club by extension).- Caleb Daniel
My concern with Daniel is that he is not overly quick and not a long kick. This means he a a 45 metre player and I like 60m players at half back to open up the game. Plus, he also not a great one-on-one defender.- Christian Petracca
I agree with that, but she didn't want to answer the question, which is why she answered in a personal capacity. The answer needed to be: "Trac's got some issues and has discussed his future with the club, but we have made it clear to him that a trade won't be happening."- Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
The President/CEO are always fall guys for when footy clubs get things wrong. Are Pert and Roffey really responsible for any of our issues? I would say no. Roffey has kept a closed shop since taking charge, but had we done what the previous guy wanted, we might not have won the flag in 2021.- Christian Petracca
I don't see the big issue with Roffey not getting involved in football matters. She has always been a delegator as President and empowered the people in the football department. But in saying this, I think she needed to have had a better answer for the interview for if Trac has asked for a move. (i.e. Trac's got some issues and has discussed his future with the club, but we have made it clear to him that a trade won't be happening.) The message from the club to Trac needs to be clear. We love you, we will listen to your issues and try to fix them if possible, but we are not trading you. (We may trade him if the offer is good enough but that is not included in the message.) Trac is obviously going through a lot of emotions and it seems that the people around him think he would be better to move. But there is no club that will pay his wages and give us a fair trade in return. We need to de-escalate the rhetoric and not give Trac a reason to respond.- Christian Petracca
Kristian Kardashian is my least favourite Kardashian.- Farewell Adam Tomlinson
It might not mean compensation to us but it may dilute St Kilda's compensation for Battle. The system is deliberately vague.- Farewell Adam Tomlinson
Wonder if St Kilda do a late pick trade with us so that they don't impact any compensation for Battle.- Christian Petracca

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/why-petracca-s-bid-to-depart-the-demons-remains-a-long-shot-20240826-p5k5eu.html The Age article outlines all the reasons why a trade won't happen. Another club would have to fork out a huge percentage of their salary cap and picks in order to get Petracca, who has doubts on his physical and mental fitness. The club and players needs to make sure we can be conciliatory, because the most likely situation is we have to kiss and make up.- Christian Petracca
Is Trac Keyser Söze?- How Many Weeks For Kozzy?
The hearing is at 6.30pm tonight.- Christian Petracca
I hope the club lobbies the AFL to break up the player agencies. The concentration into a handful of firms gives them too much power and hurts the smaller clubs. They all have to be registered with the AFL and they could easily put a cap on the value of each agency.- Christian Petracca
Trac is clearly going through a lot at the moment. He has always been immature and self centred. But we need to be trying to mend the situation for if Trac stays a Demon (as I think is most likely given the difficult nature of such a trade).- Christian Petracca
The Blues would have planned for all those contract to expire. They would be backloading contracts already.- Christian Petracca
Trac is following the playbook for players seeking a trade. I would not expect the club will be told anymore information about what his true grievances are (now that the exit interview is over) and we will only be speaking to his management in the offseason. There will be some more leaks to the media, but Trac will continue to be vague about his issues and tell different problems to different parties. My guess is that he has a list of things he doesn't like about the club (none of them being major). The main issue is probably that he wants to go to a club that has more chance of winning a flag and bigger crowds. Even if we can't really know the real problems, I think Goodwin will back his ability to turn things around. For all his perceived tactical deficiencies, he seems to have a good connection with the players. Our plan should be to 1) tell Trac that we love him (regardless) and 2) tell his manager that we don't intent to trade him. But if we were to consider a trade, this is what it would take for us to even think about it. Let them do all the work. - Christian Petracca
