Was involved with an Australian swimming squad camp 20 years ago and had the pleasure of listening to a talk from the USA swimming head coach - he talked about the Wolf and the Deer. In the 90s Australian swimming was the wolf chasing the USA Deer out in front. There was a period from then when we were the number 1 team but didn't know it - we swapped places and became the deer but were still hungry and still chased everything hard - before finally accepting our position as the best swimming team. Then the Us team got hungry and acted like wolf and to gett their position back - they hated the Michael Klim smashing them like guitars comments.... Was a fascinating psyche insight at the time. Over to the Dee's now - we're better off as the wolf than the Deer - we need to hunt and not be the show ponies out in front. Even if we're on top of the ladder and everyone's working on undoing us - we need to work harder to hunt them first
