  1. 1) LOOK where you are kicking the ball! Don't just blaze away! 2) Do NOT hand-ball to a player who is stationary and/or under pressure! 3) Always do the 1%ers such as tackling, shepherding, smothering etc. 4) Constantly TALK to your teammates and let them know what is going on around them. 5) Show leadership! Actions speak louder than words! 6) Always put your body on the line and never shirk a contest! 7) Play aggressive and tough football. Go HARD at the ball from start to finish! 8) Back up your teammates and help them whenever possible in a contest. 9) Practice goal kicking when ever you have spare time. 10) Never give up! And always give your all when you are out on the field. That's my 10 points....for non-negotiables.
  2. Seeing as Fremantle has just sacked Mark "Head Job" Harvey. I think that inquiring about Leigh Matthews as coach for the Melbourne Football Club becomes more important than ever. Alot of people here seem to hold ridiculous "old grudges" against Leigh Matthews for things he did almost 30 years ago! I think getting the best coach available for the Melbourne Football Club to help us win it's first premiership since 1964. Anybody who thinks that we should not look at EVERY option available to us to get the RIGHT coach for us in a fool in my opinion. If Mick Malthouse isn't available...we need to think outside the square!
  3. Well I reckon if we can't get Mick Malthouse then we should definitely look into asking if Leigh Matthews would consider coaching the Melbourne Demons. There's no harm in asking is there? The worse he can say is NO? With Ross Lyon off the list...we have to start thinking outside the square. Besides the slim possibility of Mick Malthouse there is only Mark Williams left....unless we wanted Rodney Eade?! I think Leigh Matthews would love the ultimate challenge of coaching the Demons to its first Premiership since 1964.
  4. I like Leigh Matthews. I admit he was a "thug" but (believe it or not!) he grew up barracking for the Demons as a kid. Of course he ended up being a champion player for Hawthorn and won Premierships at Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions. But why not give Leigh Matthews a call? Why not at least look at that option? He is a 4 time Premiership coach! You don't get any better credentials than that! Mark Robinson from the Herald Sun agrees. As can be seen from this article here: http://www.heraldsun...f-1226137241269.
  5. I like it! Get Stronger...Get Better! I agree totally as well! We need to DEMAND from the AFL that we are compensated for losing Tom Scully! He was our number 1# draft pick from 2009! We deserve the same compensation that Geelong got for losing Gary Ablett Junior! The Melbourne Football Club needs to come out and take a stand! We can't be seen as a bunch of wimps that just let others screw us over!
  6. Arrrggghhhh!!! I'm very angry at this! Tom Scully went for the money $$$$ it's plain and simple! All I can say is that the Melbourne Football Club better scream and yell at the AFL to make sure that we get compensation picks to make up for losing our number 1# draft pick from 2009! We deserve at least two top 10 draft picks just like Geelong got for losing Gary Ablett Junior! The Melbourne Football Club needs to stand up to the AFL and let them know that we will NOT be screwed over!
  7. If the Demons don't get Mick Malthouse it will be either Ross Lyon or Mark Williams. Leigh Matthews as the darkhorse....
  8. That videos is certainly like looking in a mirror! Another reason why I'm going bald...I keep tearing my hair out during Melbourne matches!
  9. I honestly do not understand?! What has Cameron Schwab done wrong?? I think the players and the coaching staff need to take full responsibility for the insipid effort on Saturday. Dean Bailey cannot be coaching the MFC next year. Nobody will bother to sign up to be a member if that happens! I felt ashamed to be a Melbourne supporter. We were simply humiliated. For AFL players to "not care" they need to seriously prove to the AFL community that they CAN bounce back against Carlton or leave the club. We don't need people at the club that simply give up if things get too hard. I don't want players at the Melbourne Football Club who will not bleed for the team they are playing for. Actions speak louder than words!
  10. G'day fellow Demons Supporters! Why not simply wear the Red and Royal Blue jumper that we wore in the mid 70's to mid 80's? I think it is a viable option? Unless it brings back far too many bad memories?
  11. I really, really hate Cameron Bruce now! But yeah....we were terrible today! Not good enough MFC players and coaching staff!
  12. Even if we DID take Fevola...he would have to be on an extremely strict contract. He would not be allowed to drink alcohol or gamble. Besides, how would you be able to completely change his personality? I really find it hard to believe that Fevola could magically "change his ways" and end up being a Melbourne player. He's better off taking a chance as a punter in the NFL.... Having said that....our forward line would be very potent if we had Fevola, Jurrah, Watts, Dunn, Petterd etc. It's a tantalizing but unrealistic prospect. However, if anybody could set Fevola on the right track it would be Jim Stynes.
  13. If that is the truth then that would be a total disgrace! I actually think that the AFL would WANT the Melbourne Demons to WIN a Premiership (or a few!) seeing as we haven't won a Flag since 1964! The Melbourne Demons winning a Premiership would be GOOD for Football....but I'm bias in that comment aren't I?
  14. G'day fellow Demons supporters, I'm greatly pleased that the Melbourne Football Club has FINALLY eliminated its debts. I see that the Western Bulldogs are now even "copying" our idea by setting up a "bulldoze debt" initiative. Nevertheless, I would like to know if we should consider continuing the Demons Debt Demolition under a different name? Personally I think we should! It would be a great event to have ONCE a year and all those (who have enough money to do so) can help with the long-term viability of the Melbourne Football Club. The most important thing is to make sure the Melbourne Demons are around forever! GO DEMONS IN 2011!!! From Supreme_Demon
  15. G'day fellow Demons supporters! I would LOVE the Demons to get Sam Day from Sturt....but I know that isn't possible. As for who we should "consider" getting. It will all depend on who is the "best available" and if that "best available" is a tall forward or not. Personally I would like the Demons pick at least ONE of Jack Darling, Tom Lynch or Lucas Cook. We also need to consider drafting a long-term replacement for (the now gone) Cameron Bruce perhaps? Anyways, I would like to hear people's thoughts on WHO we should consider taking with our picks in the AFL National Draft and what your reasons are for taking those players. GO DEMONS IN 2011!!! From Supreme_Demon
  16. Mitch Thorp could of been taken by the Demons. Unfortunately our list was full and we promised to take back Michael Newton and John Meesen as mature-age rookies. Perhaps we will have a second crack at Mitch Thorp at the end of this year....who knows? Incidentally, I liked Jason Akermanis' idea to have a mid-season draft in the AFL. We used to have one in the early 1990's but it was made redundant. Personally, I think it would be better to try and take a good young-gun key forward in the AFL draft at the end of the season. Although, I don't think there will be much left after the Gold Coast get their multitude of early draft picks.
  17. I always liked the idea of each team playing each other twice and you get rid of the Pre-Season competition.
  18. Well it seems that Dean Bailey is promising us that the Demons will put in a better showing against the Magpies this week. Here is the link about the news story: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/91325/default.aspx All I can say is that actions speak louder than words. Let hope the Demons really have a real red hot go and do their best to WIN against Collingwood!
  19. I agree about Colin Sylvia coming in. As long as he is 100% fit. Michael Newton is a possibility. I was actually disappointed he wasn't playing in Round 1. However, it depends if he has "earned" selection. Not sure about Clint Bartram playing though. I would actually give Jordie McKenzie another chance.
  20. Brad Green is one of my favourite Melbourne players. I would love to see him become Captain of the Melbourne Football Club. He also deserves to play 300 games for the Demons....he's almost at 200. I'm pretty sure he can make it to 300+ games!
  21. I agree that Melbourne needs to draft or trade for another major key forward. Hopefully we don't finish last this year. But whatever place we finish on the ladder we MUST take the best available...which will hopefully be a key forward. As that is what we need the most! I think today also shows how much bad luck Melbourne has had with with key-forwards and injuries in the past 10 years. For example; Luke Molan and Nick Smith. Plus I really don't know what is going on with Michael Newton. Let's hope he remembers that it's basically his LAST CHANCE to be an AFL player and make an impact.
  22. That's a good question! I hope he is...but as far as I know, I think he is still recovering from a strained back?
  23. Far out! Jurrah out for 4 months! Here is the link about it all: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/90368/default.aspx Very disappointing news... Let's hope that he has a speedy recovery.
  24. I have to agree with Mike Sheahan too....which is also quite rare! Personally I would not sign Dean Bailey to another contract until the end of this season. To do anything else would be foolish. Like all other Demons supporters we want to see improvement from our team and this cannot be fully assessed correctly until the 2010 season is finished.
