  1. I like the idea there of a donation initiative set up by the MFC! It could be called "the members initiative" or "Demon Debt Destroyers" (lame I know!) Where the MFC could send out a letter in the mail each week to all our member with the right information and people can donate at minimum $20 or $25 to the Club. Perhaps a bit like a bill where you can pay it at the post office? Like we can do for MFC membership renewals? If we have enough people donating at least $20 - $25 a week for say a year. We will EASILY pay off our debt of $4.5 million dollars. Here's a link to some information about the Red & Blue Foundation: http://melbournefc.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=7496 And for those who wish to get in contact with the Red & Blue Foundation to tell them about your ideas. Contact Details Red and Blue Foundation Trustees: Robert Jamieson John Lill Anthony Starkins MELBOURNEfc Level Two, Great Southern Stand Melbourne Cricket Ground P O Box 254 EAST MELBOURNE VIC 8002 (03) 9652 1111 (03) 9650 4696 I also believe that on the MELBOURNEfc website it needs to be shown in an OBVIOUS place where people can donate money to the Red & Blue Foundation as well. Here is a direct link to the Red & Blue Foundation donation form for those interested: http://melbournefc.com.au/Portals/0/demons...tion%20Form.pdf I see some fantastic ideas so far! Keep up the good work!!!
  2. We shouldn't need to rely on millionaires. The average rank-and-file Melbourne supporter should be able to contribute to paying off the MFC's debt. At Hawthorn they were able to wipe off their debt with the efforts of their supporters. We should do the same! If over 20,000 members save up $50 each week for 10 weeks we could then make up around $500 each. Then we would have $10 million dollars to donate to the Red & Blue Foundation! I know it sounds difficult but it IS possible! All the MFC needs to do is ask members/supporters to donate $50 a week for 10 weeks...or $25 for 20 weeks and we can raise the money in about a year. We have to think POSITIVE and try and get something going!
  3. MELBOURNE DEMONS FOREVER!!! Being called the Demons was actually one of the reasons WHY I become a Melbourne supporter in the first place way back when I was in Grade Prep (circa 1987?).
  4. G'day fellow Demons Supporters! I know this sounds crazy..but I think we should set up a fund to help get rid of the debt that the Melbourne Football Club has by ourselves. If enough people donate we can get rid of the debt of $4.5 million in a year or so. I know some people have talked about the $2 facebook initiative. And I support that idea. But I think there are other ways we can also send money to the Red & Blue Foundation. Remember it is tax deductable!!! Technically if 20,000 members saved up $500 each and donated it to the Red & Blue Foundation that would be in total $10 million dollars! That would pay off the MFC debt and leave plenty left over! The Raffle of $200 for a ticket will also help the MFC out a lot and I encourage people to be part of that. There are probably heaps of ways that we can raise money for the Melbourne Football Club and not rely on the kindness of millionaires all the time (that doesn't mean we would refuse their generosity either though!). Hey! If somebody really wanted to we could ask Matt Damon for a donation seeing as he's a very well paid Hollywood actor and we gave him Melbourne Demons jumper a few years ago! "C'mon Matt! You've got money to burn!" What about a "help save the MFC" telephone appeal? A bit like the Good Friday appeal where people call in and donate money? We could have this done in conjuction with The Footy Show perhaps? Have anybody who wants to keep the Melbourne Football Club alive donate money to us. It would save having to go around rattling tins at least. I also agree that the AFL should not have to support us forever but it is a disgrace if they plan to basically "kill us off" by prematurely taking away our funding at the end of this year before we are ready to fend for ourselves. Besides taking away the funding would basically destroy, not just the Melbourne Demons but the Kangaroos and the Bulldogs too! The AFL are greedy and have 100's of millions of dollars from their TV rights deal to use at their disposal. Nevertheless, there are probably HEAPS of other ideas we could have a look at too! I just wanted to get the ball rolling and I hope others will add to this thread. AS MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS OF THE MELBOURNE DEMONS (THE OLDEST FOOTBALL CLUB IN THE WORLD!!!) WE SHOULD DO OUR BIT TO KEEP OUR CLUB ALIVE!
  5. I suggest Dean Bailey purchases a copy of this book!
  6. I found this article on "The Age" website this evening have a read: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/thre...2863647422.html Basically the MFC boardmembers have reservations about Jim Stynes but they are willing to hear him out. Hopefully it all goes smoothly at the MFC board meeting on Thursday night. I'm pretty confident that things will be sorted out and the best interests of the MFC and its members (thats us!) will be taken into account. Lets hope Jimmy has a ripper of a plan!
  7. Thats right...why not BOTH? The more good people involved with helping the MFC the better.
  8. I hope everything can be sorted out with a few phone calls or meetings between John Phillips and Jim Stynes. I really don't know why the MFC board needs to be reduced to 8? Having 11 board members or even more shouldn't really matter as long as they can all contribute to the Club in an effective manner. They all have to be UNITED as well and want to achieve the same goals. People like John Phillips and Jim Stynes all need to work together for the greater good of the MFC.
  9. Travis Cloke is a violent thug! I remember seeing footage of him after the game when I got home and his nature is that of a typical schoolyard bully.
  10. I thought that the Red & Blue army walk was an absolutely fantastic idea! Giving out the free (people love things which are free!) MELBOURNEfc flags was sheer brilliance! It was quite a site watching all this red and blue traveling towards the MCG. It was a bit like a political rally or something. My only criticism is that it wasn't advertised enough! I talked to a few Melbourne supporters during the game and they didn't even know about the Red & Blue army walk..and if they did they did not know when it started and unfortunately missed it. I think if the MFC does something like this again it is CRUCIAL to advertise it better! There needed to be advertisements about it in ALL the major newspapers the day before with all the details included.
  11. As far as I've been told all will be revealed in a month....
  12. I think it would be a good idea to have a alternate jumper "design competition" by the MFC members. The top 3 jumpers designs are then voted on by the MFC members.
  13. This is fantastic news! Having a permanent Summer training base at Casey Fields is exactly what the Demons needed!
  14. We need money and we need to develop a winning culture. That will lead towards winning a Premiership and, in turn, creating more members. Developing a grass-roots supporter base in the City of Casey is crucial as well. We need to have the MFC become involved with lots of community based activities in the City of Casey. We should have our Summer training base at Casey Fields and our other training base at the new stadium that is being built for us by 2010.
  15. I've always hated that arrogant slime-ball when he was Premier and now I hate Kennett even more! GET STUFFED JEFF!!! The Melbourne Demons will STAY in MELBOURNE!!!! MELBOURNE DEMONS FOREVER!!!!
  16. Thanks for the memories David. You will be remembered as one of the GREATEST Melbourne Demons players ever! Over 300 games. A coleman medalist. Twice All-Australian. Club Best & Fairest. A pure CHAMPION!
  17. The "wizard" that was... Jeff Farmer is merely a shadow of the excitement machine he once was at the Demons.
  18. I just hope that Dean Bailey doesn't end up being as bad as Dennis Jones when he coached the Demons in 1978!
  19. I agree....Sylvia should have DESTROYED Judd with a massive (legal) hip and shoulder. Sylvia and the rest of the Melbourne players need to stop taking the soft option and find a nasty streak and use it every once and a while! If a player is there to be given a massive (legal) hip and shoulder then DO IT!!!
  20. Good to see a bit of brainstorming going on here to help save the Melbourne Demons! I suggested combining all our ideas together and then faxing or Emailing them off to the Melbourne Football Club.
  21. David Neitz is the greatest Melbourne player of modern times in my opinion! I will surely miss him next year.
  22. As far as I know I think it would be better financially and a lot more convenient to align ourselves with the Casey Scorpians. We are moving our Summer training base to Casey Fields after all. Yes I hope so!!! Good call mate! :D In my opinion moving our Summer training base to Casey Fields is one of the BEST things the MFC could do! Cranbourne may not be in the City centre of Melbourne but it is STILL a suburb of Melbourne. The fact that it is a "growth corridor" also means there is potential in the long run to gain new MFC members.....all we have to do is start winning some games!
  23. It's pretty simple really. Melbourne and Sandringham will part ways (all good things must come to an end and the Zebras have been good to us and during that time they have won quite a lot of VFL Premierships). St.Kilda and Casey Scorpians will part ways. Sandringham will be unaligned or join with another AFL Club (no idea who?). Melbourne will join with the Casey Scorpians (colours: dark blue, red and white) because we are moving our Summer training base out there to Casey Fields (in the Cranbourne area). And St. Kilda who have moved their training base from Moorabbin to Frankston will align with the Frankston Dolphins (colours: red, white and black). It's as easy at that!
  24. NO WAY! The Melbourne Demons STAY in Melbourne!
  25. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Yes that is the question. Are we going to WIN at all this year? I understand we are going through short term pain for long term gain...but I hope we improve enough and become competitive enough to win at least a few games this year. To go the ENTIRE season without a win would be absolutely disgraceful and would apply even more unwanted pressure onto the MFC. I'm sure we will probably win a few games. I just hope it happens sooner rather than later...
