  1. Any reports? Is the game finished? I'd like to know how Watts, Natanui and Rich went?
  2. Clone a young Ron Barassi from one of his moustache hairs.
  3. I'd love to see David Schwarz (The Ox) back at the MFC! B)
  4. If I'm not working I'll try and come along too!
  5. It was quite refreshing to read a positive article by Mike Sheahan for a change about the Demons!
  6. The final tally is 29,619 signed up MFC members!!! :D
  7. That is a fantastic effort! Hopefully, we can get to over 30,000 MFC members next year! :D
  8. Any other ideas from people? And no mentioning of Indian Princes!
  9. I'll believe it when it does actually happen. I would prefer we as Melbourne supporters/members raise the money ourselves rather than rely on fantasy. And yes I am a sceptic. <_<
  10. I can understand there being a few concerns by councillors. It's fair enough of them being critical and questioning what is going on I just hope they aren't being vindictive against the Melbourne Football Club for more sinister reasons? <_< Nevertheless, they have to look at the BIG PICTURE!!! Allowing the Melbourne Football Club to have a Summer training base at Casey Fields and having an alignment with the Casey Scorpions VFL side will provide much more for people in the area in numerous ways. It will create positive exposure for the City of Casey and people will possibly think of Cranbourne in a more positive light. As the City of Casey is a growing area I'm sure it would interest a lot of football supporting familes (mainly Demons supporters) to want to live in the area and have a chance of seeing their favourite AFL players train nearby. There is the chance of building a Melbourne Demons/Casey Scorpions Social Club in close proximity that would also provide revenue perhaps? Would the anti-MFC councillors prefer something more controversial built nearby at Casey Fields? Such as a toxic waste dump or something? The positives far outweigh the negatives. But I'm obviously bias.
  11. Well, it's almost been sorted out. The concerned parties (the Melbourne Demons and the Casey Scorpions and the City of Casey) are meeting today or tomorrow. I found the story in the newspaper here: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/demo...4073341424.html
  12. Well if you think about it $25 a week is about $3.60c a day for 7 days. Thats about the price of a cup of coffee or a sandwich nowadays.
  13. Isn't the new MFC board supposed to donate around $2 million dollars? Plus we as MFC members/supporters have to contribute as much as we can via the Red & Blue Foundation. Although I am concerned that money hasn't already been set aside for this. Both the Olympic Park stadium and the Casey Fields training bases need to be set up to help with the long term viability of the MFC. In my opinion BOTH these projects need to go ahead for the MFC to survive.
  14. This heritage status is only a possibility. We are 150 years old and deserve to at least apply via the national trust. It doesn't mean it will happen or not. We need to look at as many possibilities as we can to keep the MFC alive.
  15. I find this story of having an Indian Prince offering us $20 million dollars very hard to believe. As MFC supporters/member we should try and raise money to keep our club alive through our own efforts. If 20,000 MFC supporters/members donated $25 a week for 20 weeks (about a season) we would raise $10 million dollars. Over 40 weeks (about 2 seasons) we would have be able to raise our OWN $20 million dollars without any help. I realise it would take a lot of effort but it would be possible.
  16. Did Chris Connolly really say that? If so, fair enough. But I thought we could at least take a chance with Ben Cousins. He has more to lose than us. Just give him a 1 or 2 year contract with strict conditions. The MFC need to do something exciting rather going down the "boring route" constantly.
  17. So has anybody else thought of some realistic ideas to help the Melbourne Demons pay off their $4.5 million dollar debt? We can't expect to rely on the kindnest of millionaires or Indian Princes. As supporters we should all get together and help the MFC the best we can to raise money to help save our club. I read in the papers today how Richmond under the guidance of Neville Crowe with their "save our skins" campaign in the early 90's was able to raise $1 million dollars in 10 weeks!
  18. I think the reasoning behind the heritage listing of the MFC is because it will help with preventing the club from being killed off, relocated or merged by the AFL or other outside factors. The MFC deserves every right for applying for heritage listing seeing as we are 150 years old (est. 1858) and it was Melbourne football players/officials that helped create Aussie rules football. It will also provide protection for the MFC with federal government funding etc.
  19. The MFC needs to do BOTH! We need to have the Olympic park stadium set up for Winter/Season training which will include high-tech and state of the art facilities. And also we need to have the Pre-Season/Summer training base set up at Casey Fields along with an alignment with the VFL side Casey Scorpions seeing as our alignment with the Sandringham Zebras will end as soon as this season finishes. It is up to the new MFC board to sort these things out for us. We as MFC supporters/members must do anything we can to help (donations to the Red & Blue Foundation etc) but we must be respectful and allow process to take due course with the concerned parties.
  20. I was one of the few people that suggested this a few months ago. I really hope it goes through. The Melbourne football club is 150 years old and it was indeed Melbourne players that helped create the rules for our great game way back in 1858. We are the OLDEST football club in the world and I personally believe that we deserve heritage status.
  21. I hope the MFC board gets in contact with the Casey Scorpions as quickly as possibly to sort out a deal. Personally I believe it will be a match made in heaven. Let's hope things can work out.
  22. So has anybody else thought of any new ideas to help get rid of the $4.5 million dollar debt? I read about this on the MELBOURNEfc website today: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/D...px?newsid=61916 Below I have included a quote from the article. Basically we need to raise another $500,000 to help the MFC and the Red & Blue Foundation with setting up our new home base at the Olympic Park football stadium. Along with having a Summer training base at Casey Fields I think having a state-of-the-art training facility will really give our players and our club a competitive edge. C'mon! We need to get behind this! MELBOURNE DEMONS FOREVER!!!
  23. I think we have the potential to gain a lot of new Melbourne supporters out in the Casey region. But your correct in saying that successful teams get a lot more members/supporters. Collingwood may not have won that many Premierships recently besides 1990 but they have been in a lot of grand-finals! Plus the Collingwood supporters breed like rabbits! :D I prefer quality over quantity! But if the Melbourne Demons are to gain more supporters we need to have on-field success and start winning Premierships in the next few years. People don't barrack for clubs that continue to "win" the Wooden Spoon. Unless it's St.Kilda.
  24. Yeh it was a great mark. I hope he can take another big speccie this week against the Swans! Although I'd rather he kicked a bag of goals and win us the game!
