Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
Supreme_Demon replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
FAILMANTLE!!! 😂😁😄😅🤣 Hahahahahaha! 😆 -
Glad we beat those rotten Hawks! I really do hate them! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 The brawl at half-time was entertaining. Jake Lever was brilliant today! One of his best games I have seen him play actually. Joel Smith the versatile swing-man who can play up forward and down back. Adam Tomlinson as slow as treacle, but did his job until he was subbed off. Top 4 spot consolidated. GO YOU MIGHTY DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
-
The biggest frustration is that Brodie Grundy seems to have serious difficulties trying to take contested marks. Hopefully he can continue to work on improving this part of his game.
-
With Carlscum winning in a close one today positions in the top 4 are heating up. Tomorrow is going to be massive. Destiny is in the hands of the Melbourne players themselves. We cannot underestimate Hawthorn.
-
Bloody Carlscum winning again in a close one makes me wanna vomit! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
-
Well done on another brilliant podcast Andy, George and Binman! Fantastic work as always! We all greatly appreciate everything you do for our shared love of the Melbourne Demons! 🔴🔵👹
-
Congratulations to Max Gawn on 200 games! He is a champion of the Melbourne Football Club. Probably one of the greatest ruckmen of the modern era too. Let's hope big Maxy plays another 100 games and reaches the 300 game milestone for the Demons!

I must say I was surprised "Razor" Ray Chamberlain made a lot of "non calls" in the match. He usually loves to be the centre of attention! 🤣 In some ways, it is pointless to complain about the umpires. But I am going to do it anyways! Especially because I am extremely angry that we lost to Carlscum! 🤬 The umpires were really terrible with all the blatant free kicks for Melbourne players that were ignored. What's the point of having 4 umpires if they are simply going to ignore ridiculously obvious free kicks?!

Here are my 5 questions for the podcast this week after the frustrating and disappointing close loss to Carlton. 1) In my opinion, the Brodie Grundy as a forward experiment doesn't seem to be working. What should we do? Time to bring back Tom McDonald? We desperately need a functioning forward line. 2) After losing a close game to Carlton in a finals-like atmosphere with a big crowd at the MCG, what do the Demons players need to learn for next time? Did we panic under the pressure? 3) Are the Demons pretenders or contenders for this year's AFL Premiership? I am sure the media "experts" will be asking the same question about us this week. 4) It was great to get Clayton Oliver back. However, is our midfield too slow? Or is it more to do with the issue of synergy between our players? 5) Did Michael Voss "out coach" Simon Goodwin in the match? Mainly in regards to strategy and tactics? Or was it just a case of the Blues players winning the crucial contests and applying a high level of pressure?

Absolutely gutted! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Losing by 4 points to Carlscum! Yuck! 🤢🤮 Brodie Grundy is not our forward answer.
-
Tragic to hear the terrible news about Jeff Hilton. My sincerest condolences to his family, friends, both the Saints and the Demons as well as all who knew him. 😔 He was a definitely someone I remember with his number 22# jumper when he was playing for the Demons during our finals run in 1994. Him and Demons teammate Paul Hopgood used to look very similar with the long flowing blonde hair running around.

Which hated player would you love to love at the Dees?

Brodie Grundy.....oh....wait! 🤣 In all seriousness, probably Brayden Maynard from the Magpies or Toby Greene from the Giants. -
A massive game against Carlton this Saturday night. The crowd will be huge! I dare say this is probably the BIGGEST game against Carlton since the finals in 2000! Back when Brad Green was kicking goals from all angles and announced himself as a star player for Melbourne. It will be interesting to see how Clayton Oliver and Brodie Grundy go both returning to the senior side. I assume both will be fired up to make an impact. However, I am still very curious to see how our forward line will function against the Blues after sadly losing Harry Petty to injury. I would of liked to see Tom McDonald get another chance in the forward line. But I guess he needs match practice at VFL level with Casey first. The other issue is that he is so slow and he has the turning circle of a cargo ship. Anyway, the ball is in his court to try and get (probably) his last chance to break back into the senior side of the Demons. It's all up to you Tommy! Hopefully we don't underestimate Carlton. They are definitely on a roll and we need to be prepared for that and anything they might throw at us.

Another excellent podcast as always! Well done Andy, George and Binman. Thank you for everything that you do! 😎👍🏻

Have we officially found our full forward?
Supreme_Demon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would consider giving Josh Schache one last chance with Harry Petty being injured. The problem with Josh Schache is he is just not aggressive enough at the ball. He seems far too laid back and doesn't show enough vigour for my liking as well. Matthew Jefferson is probably an option next year once he develops a bit more and builds up a bigger and stronger body. At this stage he is too raw and skinny. -
Hahahahahaha! The perfect inclusion! 😁 David Neitz would DESTROY a team if he was still playing. Big Neita is one of my favourite Demon players ever!
-
Here are my 5 questions for this week's Demonland podcast this evening. 1) With Harry Petty injured, do we bring back in Brodie Grundy? Unless Josh Schache, Ben Brown or Tom McDonald are better options in the forward line? 2) Who makes way for Clayton Oliver if he hopefully returns this week against Carlton? 3) What has happened to James Harmes? He seems to be playing dumb, putrid football. I have been quite frustrated with his performances recently. 4) Praise has to go to our small forwards this week in Kade Chandler, Alex Neal-Bullen and Kozzie Pickett against North Melbourne. They all played very well. Was this one of Alex Neal-Bullen's best ever games for the Demons? 5) Who do we play on Blues star forward Charlie Curnow? Joel Smith? Or do we bring back Adam Tomlinson?
-
I am still hopeful the MCC will eventually erect a statue of Robbie Flower outside the MCG. It would definitely be a fitting tribute!
-
I actually think Harley Reid would absolutely LOVE to learn under Christian Petracca, Jack Viney, Clayton Oliver and the rest of our players. I understand he's a Geelong supporter. But still, it would be an awesome apprenticeship to learn from some of the best midfielders in the AFL. Anyway, time will tell what happens later in the year. In Jason Taylor and the MFC recruiting team we trust. 🙏

Freo fail again! 😂😆😅😁🤣 -
Was deeply concerned during the first quarter. Luckily our class rose to the top against the Kangaroos. Definitely a blow losing Harry Petty to injury. Kozzie and Chandler both had great games. Petracca and Viney both wonderful. Max Gawn was huge, as always, against 2 North Melbourne ruckmen as well. Harmes was awful. Just does dumb things which are incredibly frustrating! Anyway, it was a good win in the end by 32 points.
-
Disappointing news. But Tom McDonald should be almost ready to return? Then there's Josh Schache. Or Ben Brown? Otherwise, Brodie Grundy? Either way, there are other forward options.
-
I wish I was still in my 20's! 🤣 Anyway, I agree with you. Max Gawn actually played better after getting belted. A hot shower and few cold beers after the game and I'm sure he was fine.
-
He got belted a few times against Richmond. Clashed heads with Ivan Soldo. Fell over a few times. But that's footy. Got poked or scratched on the eye in a ruck contest. You could even see the scratch on his eye/face when Max Gawn did a post-game interview. Obviously, AFL is a contact sport and you gotta be tough. But I still consider that "a bit banged up". I wouldn't be feeling the best after the game. Although a win takes away the pain.
-
Purely on form Michael Hibberd "deserves" to be the sub for this game. Although, there could be a sneaky chance that Simon Goodwin pulls a surprise and makes Brodie Grundy the sub to give Max Gawn a bit of a rest in the game. I guess we shall wait and see what happens? 🤷🏼♂️
