    Addam Maric

grimes getting injured would've worked in his favour this week I think... it was obvious he had been playing too deep in his games earlier this season... with aussie on early as the sub, it forced the coaching staff to move him to the middle, and show us what he can do there... he got ball in the middle, and pushed forward to pressure in front of goals... where he needs to play, his games for us previously had been much closer to goal... it may turn out Cameron was on the money when he drafted him... a forward pocket who should move into the middle...
  2. In: Newton, Petterd, Maric Out: Morton, Dunn, Bennell Aussie the sub. Give the experienced guys a chance to redeem themselves this week, if they're poor they get the chop... Newton been more consistant than Bate, and will give us that long option...
  3. calling for bennell, aussie, dunn to be dropped... it's the midfield that got smashed, and they deserve the axe...
  4. 1. watts was probably our best in the first quarter when the rest were terrible... good signs there... 2. to play so poorly, kick so inaccurately at goal and lose by less than ten goals...
  5. I live around the corner from Subi, this is the most rain we've had since probably August... And I washed my car yesterday too, but these conditions if they continue should suit us...
  6. S. McKernan is only just getting games at the level, taken in the 2nd round of the same draft... plenty of time...
  7. Unfortunately because Fremantle are playing Sunday, the game won't be on television here at all. So if you're complaining about not getting it live, spare a thought for us. Seven show these matches sometimes, but the V8 Supercars will be on instead on Sunday. The only way you could watch the game is by going to a pub that has a Satelite feed from interstate. The Western Demons supporter group are having a function in Yokine, whilst the Wembley Hotel has shown these matches in the past, and that's not all that far from Subi oval.
  8. Sylvia is definitely worth a punt here... He polls well, and as we start winning more games, if he stays fit I will tip him to have a break out season and will go close to taking home the Charlie...currently paying $151 with Sportsbet.com.au
  9. i'd bring him back... in the end it comes down to... junior vs our 6th selection in the rookie draft; Having juniors experience vs not having it; AND playing junior in 10-20 matches vs playing a younger player in that position i'd say the benefits outweigh the disadvantages

    GAMEPLANS

i think a key to the way we play, and why we were so competitive against the pies was that we we're prepared to switch the play quite often... the pies set their defensive structures up for a short and long kick down the line... by switching the ball out the back and down the other side of the ground, we're able to break down the press they set up...
  11. this makes me angry... Jack would get booed by Dees supporters for the rest of his career if this went down... which would be a shame...
  12. people have been calling Lynch our Leigh Brown... it's too early for us to look at this type of player... collingwood brought brown in when they were on the verge of their premiership window... we're not there yet... we can look to get this type of player in a couple of years time, but for now, we look at players in their early 20's or approaching their mid 20's... in a couple of years time, when there may be a possible flag in sight, then we look at bringing in the Lynch types...
  13. From memory, I believe the scenario is that Miller and Bell would need to sign a waiver in order to play finals. If they were to get injured playing for Casey, and had not signed a waiver they would have to receive another year's salary and we would have to include it in the salary cap. I remember a couple of years ago Guy Rigoni opted to sign a waiver so he could play in a finals campaign with Casey. Essentially the decision lies with the player. As for Newton, he's on the rookie list, so it's not that big a deal if he sticks around for mine... Could be important if the 80 interchange cap is introduced.
  14. correct weight... Garland to do the stopping job on Buddy as he's done before... 2008 when Budyy kicked a tonne, he kept him to one goal... Got the track record there... Chip to run off Roughead at full back...
  15. way it works interstate my friend... i live in Perth and we didn't get the Geelong v Collingwood game last week... instead got the battle for the spoon on both foxtel and channel 10... would've been furious if I were a cats or pies supporter...
  16. ridiculous idea... we're making money at the G, we keep playing there, not 45km from the middle of the city... we've got our programs out at casey, we play a challenge game there each year, that's enough...
  17. Bruce used to head down back and play on Johnno each time we played the doggies, similar with Hird... he was a star in his day... he's struggled at times to adapt to our new gameplan however, and has sold plenty of team mates into trouble on the half-back line with poor handpasses... however recent weeks has seen him get up the ground more, he's tagged some of the opposition's best players in O'Keefe and Power, and done a fantastic job... I really like him up on a wing, he struggles with the defensive pressure applied to the forwards on the half back line...
  18. just a comment from Sunday's game, I was impressed with his work rate... Jack kept working up and down the ground, running and running to find space... When he dropped that simple mark at CHF in the last quarter, he shortly after went to the bench, and he was spent, hands on knees sucking in the air... the fatigue was definitely a factor... secondly, just got a mention on Footy Classified, Hutchy was singing his praises... Said he had a great second half, key to getting us back in the match, and called that he'd be best on ground if he had of slotted those goals... Perhaps a slight exaageration, good to see some positive talk of his footy though...
  19. I'm extremely surprised he's not running around with the Gold Coast in the VFL this year... if anything he'd be a great VFL body to help protect all the youngsters, and I'm sure he would've been good enough to get a game for the Gold Coast next season...
  20. this concerns me as I think Tony Shaw has no idea about the modern game... some of his comments when the all-australian side was being selected just reinforced my opinion...
  21. we need davey to take as many kick ins as possible... he's not scared to hit up a player at centre half back in the middle of the zone... it opens up our options, and often he runs hard and gets the ball back in his hands, where he can hit another target...
  22. obviously disappointing not to get the win, but we were outplayed for most of the game today, so in the cold light of day to come away with 2 points is a good result... what cost us the win: 1. Our terrible start, 3rd week in a row 2. Lack of confidence when the game was on the line / lack of legs. On the second point, it was hard for me to say given I was watching it from Perth, but I think when Jetta and Warnock both went down the line from the back pocket, when all day we'd been looking for the switch. Either neither of them had the confidence to switch the footy in the tight circumstances, or their teammates weren't working hard enough to present an option on the switch... Either way, it was disappointing...
  23. the thing for mine is Essendon have obviously spoken to him already, but he doesn't have to go there... he can go anywhere, obviously the hype is around them, but if other clubs believe that Inglis is willing to make the switch, then Essendon won't be the only side talking to him...
  24. make it consistent, make it from 1997 where the team make-up hasn't changed, by removing our 95 and 96 seasons, I doubt we'd be on the bottom...
  25. this... this type of naming is hollywood rubbish aka TomKat or Brangelina, not what you hear around a footy club...
