  1. http://www.heraldsun...f-1225958423094 some insight into the dedication of the man... another thing I liked is that when talking about our list, he mentioned the talent, but it was immediately followed by the hard work that awaits... you almost got a feeling at times that the players were just waiting around for the future to come, being told they'll be great one day... they maybe, and that's fine, but they have to work hard to get there... i have no doubt neeld will command that hard work...
  2. Schwab said on SEN that Viney had done a great job as interim and was seen as a key member of the football department moving forward. Wouldn't surprise to see him become a member of the frontline assistants next season. He also said, as someone else mentioned, that powerpoints were banned (must have been reading Demonland). They spoke to the candidates about their philosophies, where the game was headed, how they wanted to play... Some have mentioned it, but when he said: it was more than just word. He eyeballed the journo who asked the question, not a ridiculous over the top eyeball, but just looked at him, commanding his attention. I loved it, he seemed so in command, hard but calm. Fantastic. Can't wait to see what he does with our team.
  3. Just watched the press conference. He's exactly what we need. No BS, straight talker, has a compelling intimidation about him. When asked what he wanted to achieve, he said he wanted us to be the hardest football club to play against. speaking to Matt Burgan here: http://t.co/UEXUSWzT
  4. I'm happy with the Neeld appointment. have a friend who is from Ocean Grove, and has spoken of him highly for a long time. I'm somewhat lukewarm on Craig, very happy we have someone of his ilk, but personally would've preferred Dean Laidley... But not complaining, the two would make a great combo you'd think... Bring on 2012...
  5. hardly confirmed, looking at that twitter account it comes out of hibernation around trade week, and not always on the mark...
  6. it would have to be more than that. A betting agency isn't going to halt betting for bets worth $130 totaling a potential payout of no more than $1170...
  7. Blease played a great game, missed his games against Carlton and WCE being OS, but was super today, future exciting for him. McDonald too looked the goods, and we should really be looking at how our back 6 sets up for nexxt season... Think we'll see Tapscott stay forward from now on as he played today... Garland Frawley McDonald Blease Rivers Grimes with Bennell rotating as the 7th defender on the bench... Bartram can then tag, the Bull plays in the forward line... the end of the season can't come soon enough, looking forward to next year...
  8. It's nice to get one back on them after mission-gate a few years back...
  9. That's fine, we'll up it to $3m a year once this contract is expired, and the filth are still locked in...
  10. $5 million over 3 years according to Clint Stanaway on twitter
  11. Tom McNamara has been promoted off the rookie list, so he would be one inclusion. Good in, looking forward to seeing him play...
  12. if this is the case, then it would seem that the Sheriff is definitely in town, and getting to the bottom of the problems at the MFC.
  13. Caro's take on the situation below. Senior group of players went to Stynes a few weeks ago, with concerns over the disfunctional football department. This all needs to come out in the wash tomorrow, it'll be tough, but needs to happen. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/player-revolt-preceded-humiliation-20110731-1i6k6.html
  14. A win isn't likely I accept that, but for mine you give the guy the opportunity, rather than just assuming that we would lose. Judge him on the season as a whole, not on 1 pitiful performance.
  15. That's fine, and if we get an appropriate explanation tomorrow I will be happy. Something tells me that they'll try and keep the details behind closed doors. While I agree with this approach generally, it's not going to fly with me in these circumstances.
  16. I must admit, unlike most I'm very disappointed with this decision. In my mind, the benefits of pulling the trigger on Bailey now aren't great enough compared to the potential costs. Saturday was disgusting. But, it was only 1 game. Yes, it's not our only bad game, but it was one bad game. Put the season into perspective. Todd Viney looks like he will take over and coach the team against the Blues on Saturday. If we win that one, which is a definite possibility at the G, we'll be on track to make finals. If I had said to anyone at the start of the year that Melbourne would make the finals, but Dean Bailey would be sacked as coach, they would tell me that was a ridiculous prediction, and that the team would've had a good season. What will the media be saying come seasons end if we are in the 8, but we sacked our coach? I think they’d be saying we made our call prematurely. And I think that is what we have done. But what’s done is done. We will have a new coach this weekend. What I think we all deserve, what the fans deserve is an explanation. What happened Saturday was more than just a bad day, it looked as if the players didn’t care with a couple of exceptions. Had Bailey lost the players? Perhaps. But there have been some other explanations bandied about, problems with Schwab and the rest of the administration. We all deserve an explanation as to why we played the way we did on Saturday, why Dean has been axed, and the state of affairs within the football club as they now stand. That’s how the players feel, how the admin feels, how the footy department feels, and how the board feels. I’ve been super impressed with the entire footy club since Jim Stynes took over, up until the last 48 hours anyway. It appears to be a knee jerk reaction this decision. We all deserve an explanation to convince us otherwise. I’m not sure if Dean was the man to coach us next year, and wouldn’t have minded if the club moved him on come seasons end. But if we don’t get an explanation of the last 48 hours, then this has been handled extremely poorly, and the call has been made too early. Lets hope that tomorrow our questions are answered. There can't be any secrets on this issue, it all needs to come out in the wash. Anything less is just insulting to the fans of this footy club.
  17. it's far from a knee jerk reaction... it seems there were issues this week before the game with Schwab, it's obviously had an impact on the team because we all saw the way they played... yes, Schwab did a good job getting us organised, but there's obviously problems there, and it would seem he's taken us as far as he can take us... no doubt he loves the club, no doubt... but that's not enough, and if the players hate him which is the story that's being told, then he's gotta go... simple as that...
  18. Don McLardy having 'coffee' with Stynes right now according to Clint Stanaway on Twitter... wouldn't comment on the nature of the meeting.
  19. she is... very good journo when it comes to the off field issues... doesn't actually know much about footy though... anyway, don't doubt this story at all, this is happening, i have no doubt...
  20. SEN reporting that Schwab is being sacked right now at someone's house... according to posters on Bigfooty, it seems legit though...
  21. firstly without hearing Caroline Wilson's comments, I doubt she would've implied that the players played badly on purpose, but that they were disgruntled with the club and what had been happening, and that this has an impact on your motivation and work ethic to win the next ball and make the next contest... whatever the case, there is a lot happening down at our club, a lot that needs to be resolved... Just watched the Sunday footy show, and Damien Barrett said that there had been meetings happpening this week, that some want Schwab, Connolly and even Stynes gone... he said that Gary Lyon will be involved in some capacity, that some want him to coach but that's not a role that he'd be willing to accept... what I find most upsetting about this whole situation, is the amount of work that Jim, Schwab and everyone involved in the club the last few years into bringing back everyone to the footy club, so heal the wounds of the past, bringing everyone together... it would seem that some new wounds have been created this season, lets hope they're not as damaging as they have been in the past...
  22. I'm pretty calm about all this at the moment. But a question I ask calmly, do you make the players walk home? From KP to the MCG. Would it effect their preperation too much next week? My calculations say it would take abouy 16 hours walking time. Put them up in hotels tonight, up at 6am tomorrow, and return to the MCG by foot. That goes for the coaching staff too. I think it would effect the prep for next week too much, but if we had the bye and I was the coach, that's what I'd do.
  23. Watts and Trengove tried. but I'd draw the line there. Jordie was massive today.
  24. If that team listed is the one out on the park getting this drubbing, some questions need to be asked... Much stronger Casey side listed when compared to the Cats... On paper anyway
