Brown aint going nowhere !! 6,000,000 ka ching ka ching !! -
Im not sure that I actually agree that we would be shafted per se. For that to be true as I imagine is the assertion of the poster that we would finish as equally miserably next year as we are to this year. It very probable we will finish very very low..if not bottom this year having only won a pair or a tre. We will in all likelyhood get some decent picks out of this years draft. But stop for a minute and consider the position we wil be in going into the 2009 season: Practically all the deadwood will be gone. Possibly trading might see us going into 09 with a much more balanced and fitter line up. The team willhave started to gel ( one hopes ) with kids no longer quite so green and now some games under their belts. This comig summer training wil be far better organised and fruitful. To be seen as getting shafted in NEXT years draft infers we would win only 4 games and I dont think that will be the case. We will, just like most teams be looking at pretty lean pickings ..or be involved in some silly circus trading. On this basis its fairly important we worry less about winning as such this year but concentrate on getting more miles into the players we WILL go forward with and make the best of this years draft !!

Why should it cost any more to allign with Casey as opposed to Sandy ??

With Neita on the long term injury list

I think some need to differentiate between this year and next....two different ketles of fish !! -
I make no apology for any comments Ive made on his form. .even he (DN) would probably agree; but one would hope that all attempts wil be made to keep this guy on board at the club next year in some sort of role. Hopefully his passion and love for the game will rub off on the new recruits

I must confess ive always been perplexed by many a persons rigid adherence to the classic concept of forward setups.. . To me you have a Forward team..a group who's actual placing and role simply adjusts to the play. According to the dynamic of a game a player will forward or back filling /making holes according to the ball. So Ideally you have two talls, two medium talls and two smaller crumbers up front.. Hopefully at least we wont vacate the forward 50 so much..

ok..I see where ya coming from now WM with Green in rotation...makes sense.

Whelan offered one-week suspension

When you consider some of the charges that others have had reviewed or dismissed ..by say Syd..etc.. it annoys me that the club seems so bloody impotent. Very disappointed. -

Fev seemed to be having a day out all round....still cnt work out how that very early pass to Judd wasnt deemed OOB !! just one of those days <_< -
One thing that would occur in such an arrangement is that we would be a totally "protected species" . It certainly has its plusses

with respect to W_M as I think he's near got it spot on... save fro Green.. he's got a bit of form and to tuck him away in the forward pocket is , to me, to stifle his influence OUT: Neitz (inj) Whelan (susp) Jamar, Moloney IN: Miller, Bate, Valenti, Martin B: Nathan Carroll, James Frawley, Clint Bartram HB: Cameron Bruce, Jared Rivers, Colin Sylvia C: Paul Wheatley, Brock McLean, Cale Morton HF: Brad Green, Brad Miller, Aaron Davey F: Russell Robertson, Matthew Bate, Austin Wonaeamirri Foll: Jeff White, James McDonald, Nathan Jones Int: Lyden Dunn, Daniel Bell, Stefan Martin, Shane Valenti Emg: Colin Garland, Brent Moloney, Chris Johnson I'm putting bater at FF coz I reckon he might be quite handy there. Also first game back in the big boys he wont need to do quite so much running.

An interesting idea.. Not sure that the MCC would that interested to tell the truth. Interesting none the less. Memebership would become "respectable" overnight...lol. Id have no problem still identifying with Melbouren as a club if ws to occur. I mean some of us here used to many years a go. No diff !! Certainly would put the AFL on the backfoot wouldnt it.. I mean.. A club with a real association with the G !! ooff...almost salivating at that thought !! Cant see it happening though. Interesting idea

Well I'l lbe a lone gun here.. to be quite frank I havent been that impressed by Wheels this year. Felt he got back in more on reputation and the lack of choices that any really good form. I obviously must have been watching a different MAtt at TBO to some. and it really doesnt surprise me that he did a dumb thing as his normal level of accountability ( which I will add is high ) simply seemed missing. Whether it is a a result of less than 100 % fitness.. .or injury.. or whatever to me he seems only about 80% there.. maybe this in itself is frustrating Wheels. I know he is far more capable than that and hope he actually uses the 'rest' to calm down a bit and focus. We could certainly use the 'real' Wheels down back. -

I would have personally thought this a no brainer. There are separate issues regarding the captaincy of this year and next. James McDonald has easily earnt the respect and right to lead the Dees in the interim. All others with possibly the excepion of Rivers aren't even in the contest. Brocky has put ...ooh..one good game together in a string ??.. happy for him to earn his right to put his hand up for the job next year...but thats next year.. And he'll have company in Jared I would think. Junior for mine !! -
Oh for christ sake.. anyone who has read these lists long enough knows I give this guy no leniency...but if anyone deserves to go out in style..on his terms..let Neeta play a game his way as a final hurrah!! Not only doesnt it matter re the season but he has given his all and heart for the club. Even I without any hesitation offer him this respect.

probably abou the the already flagged review at round 6

Im with ya on that Nasher. gets me why they dont do things like that. Also it would disrupt the rotations of the opposition.. Bit harder to do a [censored] for tat rotation when one is still on the field. edit as a thought.. why wouldnt you swap Davey for green in that manner
-
might have been my imagination ..but I noticed in the pre match warm ups that the blueboys had their centre crew practicing the hit outs..and it almost looked like they were practicing sharking as opposed to getting their own wins. I dont think its any lack of faith in Kruezer ..just a realistic hedging. And they certainly were better at clearances on the day.

research? your premise is its all in the stats !! you NEED to justify it. Im saying they are at very best a minor tool , and they are to be used with care. Be guided by them too much and you end up with rubbish. I have no purpose in justifying stats as I consider them often false truths.
-
testy testy... dont you like it if someone just doesnt take something at face value Youve qualified your stats ..How exactly?? which stats..?? you have served up absolutely nothing.
-
Yep. noticed it too. Possibly this is becuase he has the skills to do it !!.He has very good peripheral. Bu tthe otyher thing was that Carlton were positioning themselves to be able to go forward.. we dot run fast enough or get to the right places in time I think. Hence the hesitations.and tendencies to sideways movements. Its all very well to get it OK at practice..but when the speed pace picks up in a game you found wanting.. maybe we just need another 10% ?
-
I agree...but you do realise that thats a different thing from a team that slides in and out of finals !!!
