Such sage words...and they're Y_M's..lol.. Not much error in them either. I dont think theres teh room for wholesale carnage re the eam . It will have to be more thoughtful and insightful regarding any changes but chnages there must be. To many players have been writing checks based upon their past and now the bondsman wants to cash up. Some will be found very strapped and unable to. I diasagree with any ideas that its nothing but a shuffle of deckchairs. Sometimes its the combinations that need to be tried. Some are going to now feel the wrath thats dealt out to failures. I dont think it wil be dont with yelling and emotion.. just a clinical.. well son..its like this !! I fully believe that Bailey had his own ideas about where some were but had to give them the opportunity to prove him wrong..and some to show his respect of belief. The honeymoon is over. Im sure Bailey is under no misaprehension that he really has all the cattle he needs. He just needed to know who really was what. It dumbfounds me that some are either that stupid or egotistcial to think they could play as they have and expect mercies. It would be marvellous is some knife would sycthe through the team excising the incompetence and ushering in new bodies full of abilty overnight. it wont happen. There is still much of the year left to be suffered in pain. Bailey announced there would be a review. I await it with anticipation, just not with any expectation of quick fixes.

http://www.worldfootynews.com/article.php/20080410123933894 ****....................Testament to his athleticism is that he could have represented Fiji in the Beijing Olympics, after qualifying for the high jump with a leap of 2 metres. ***** well apparently now 18..he's currently 198 cm !! Certainly worth looking at for sure!!

What can we do to get pick 2 ? Nothing !! It wont be available , especially in light of changed drafting to come. Get over it..learn to live with it. Some of you either need to get realistic..or grow up..or both.. I'll leave it to yourselves to decide which !! <_<
-
well if they want to do a mark...there's the mark of all time..Shaun Smiths's..!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Of course you could also look at it as ...we will have the best dip at the last fair dinkum draft for a while !! With a reasonable expectation of a modicum of improvement next year we ought not finish with only 4 wins anyway. other than West Syd and the Gold Coasters.. all teams will be in same boat.....get used to it.

I will buck the trend here and confess that should it be IMPOSSIBLE to win a premiership...that we were NEVER to hold it ahigh again then my enthusiasm for the game would mellow. I have better things to do with my life than follow an IMPOSSIBLE pursuit. And this is the tenet of the original hypothetical.. that we CANT win it !! This is dramatically different from what we go through al the time of having a hard job of doing it. For in this there is always the hope..as others allude..the carrot. No carrot, not a lot of point. If Melbourne still existed I would still follow them...but in a passing fashion. Im a realist..lifes too short !!

well done Stylus... one of the few I think to pick up the real qualification of the question. Its not so much worded badly..as very precisely. Thats the whole point.. if there is NO chance of success..who wil still support them. Or more the point...invest money !!

Im not that annoyed. .just seems a tad wussy.. But I can see a method in their madness. It wil serve a pupose and thats fine. just not my flavour..thats all

just strikes me as a claytons decision... but thats just me

just remember the real motto of the club : exspecto tunc annus

hmm.. I dont like the idea of co-captains. <_< Personally it was Junior for me. . ah well, Its done.
-
H.. if he got some real form back.. id find the pen myself.. But he just seems a couple of paces off and not nearly as sharp. Hope he can recover fully from injury as he can play vrey well. I personally havent seen it this year...could be my eyes though !!
-
cheers Mousey.. Seems Martin might actually turn into a useful lad.. thats good. patience will be needed. Magic and Juice cant be too far off.. Good to see the youngens coming along too ..means we'll get another wave in a yer or so.. just in time me thinks.

Fevola out of contract- and not happy with Blues offer
beelzebub replied to Golden Monkey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Happy to be corrected here but think Riewoldt has this and another two years to run now. I think we're al in for a bit of brutal change in the manner of drafting and trading in a few years time. I agree...certainly hope the club is lookig at this with seriousness. Those who plan for this will probably catch those who havent ( or done poorly ) on the hop!! -
addendum.. if you going to build a TEAM.. yo want to get some mileage from them..as a team. Not a lot of point either persevering with the near/ or at 30 crowd !! Limited future, limited returns.

tend to agree. Wheels better days seem to be past him. Shame..but that's what is !!

the 50's.. yeah.. 55, 56, 57 and 59.... be terrible huh !!

actually you c13 raise an interesting side note to all this; Free Agency. It wil come. if in a limited fashion. But with clubs staring the barel of losing some miffed stars in the next couple of years they ( clubs) might be tempted to hedge bets by shoring up some players NOW before they can walk for nix. This will be where Brown is going to exact a hefty sum..either sign him or he can wander in a few years. Carlton may well take a similar route. Fev will get a better contract than he's offered now but it wil have "many" clauses for sure. -
though at times youd think there was Valium in the drinks bottles !!

Robbo is 30 this year.. and still contracted for next year.

Fevola out of contract- and not happy with Blues offer
beelzebub replied to Golden Monkey's topic in Melbourne Demons
The biggest problem with Fev is his attention span. He can wax and wain. He has days where he only wants to argue wthe decision whilst the game has continued around him. His focus isnt necessarily a fixed entity !!.On his day he's a very good forward.. on his day !! You just not sure what day it might be with him though -
The actual problem for Tassie is that its ALREADY footy mad !! No need to convert them or win a market share.. its done already.

Isnt this exactly what this is..a quick fix. Just getting a Brown or a Fev isnt the key to a total solution going forward. You need a TEAM thats working together. Piecemeal adhoc implants arent going to win a premiership
