Ok.. this may sound incredulous. But Ive never actaully been to the Dome.. why would I bother.. I normally get to about 5-6 games a year.. I have MFC membership.. I go to the G like all true devils !! Alas my wayward daughter defected some years back to the Saints. A sort of annual outing to this game has now seen me needing to go to the dome. My daughter is only 12 ( bit with a typical girls big mouth!! ) Id like some help please. What are good places most likely general admission Id guess ) to sit. Is best method via ticket master or lob up?? thanks in advance. . as i sheepishly slink away ..lol ( just curious..am I alone in not going to the dome ? )

as an aside.. given that the Bluebaggers have a good 14000 more than us they only managed 8500 more to their freo game . So much for any lack of passion from us Demons !! ( per capita/club)

yep.. for that we get nothing.. 20-25 we get peanuts. we're actually looking at the scenario where insomeinstances we would make far more with 10-12 at a less than top billing game than we would say at even the G yesterday
-
Absolutely.. what is.. is. And there was a substantial gorund at K P to start with..and they've built on it. Thats one situation from my view. Another is developing an all together different assett at Casey. Whilst no real physical similarity of instances there is a opportunistic one. They redeveloped KP to get 30 thou into int..stil a tad short for that place realy..bu [censored] works. We dont need to fit 30 thou in at Casey..30 thou will work at teh G. As Graz shows us there are half a dozen instances where interstaters will be the fodder for us. An altogether reality is , in very much the same vogue as Geelongs reasoning to develop, is that Melbourne will need to substantiate a desire and a call for such a venue. No one is going to ring up teh Construction boys, or Hollands..etc and start teh Grollo trcuks backing into Casey anytime soon. Its an ideal that might eventuate in a few years time. The spending of money is all about a buiness case. Theres one for training defintiely..other things..well. the momentum is gathering. What is most defintiely for mine the pleasing aspect of al lthis is as Cuddles puts it..we at least have some options.. We havent had hardly any for a long time.

Its ( K-P ) now been developed as a greater capacity than "suburban" but it wasnt always that way. Until fairly recently ( by modern standards0 it was only a 50-50 type ground.. i.e half seated.. half terraces in the old vernacular. Granted today it resembles littel of the past. We could quite happily exist with ground as it ( KP) was. Yep.. Geelong is a 'different " place in many regards But again its really only recent times they re-took the bull by the horns and re-identified as a stand alone location. Before it was just that far away bit of teh VFL.. Now its a "regional" team !! All very clever really and I take my hat off to them. Signs of a forward and progressive organisation. It is no mistake that MFC were after its ( geelongs) brain. "" and the club needs to satisfy members from both Geelong and Melbourne "" I'll take liberties here and suggest a backward engineering of this premise. If we keep whatever supporter base that currently exists for Melb in its more inner suburban and country locales and ADDS to this a particular 'locality" folowing much in teh way that indeed Geelong has then this migh tpave teh way forward to indeed have that magical 30000 plus membership we desperately need. I must confess I rather like the idea of a "another" team having to run the gauntlet of a terribly one-sided parochial crowd at Casey, even if for only a small handful of games a year. Lets refrain from the hand of friendship and make it as cold and unhospitable a place for any visiting team.
-
not baiting..just asking.. what is Kardinia if not other than the only surviving VFL boutique ground ? This is a strength for Geelong having that facility. Im not conversant with any plans to seat 20000 at Casey in the near future. I believe ideas abound for about 10000 seating with 'other ' public areas available. This is at the heart of the problem. Its unlikely that we will garner anything larger than 10-15000 crowds at the Melb v non-descript teams.

Thanks..this concisely adds persepctive to all the snippets from the various journals etc there is also ( cant quite place finger on it ) a submission I beleive to the AFL for some extra special funding for this. This would be external to the equalisation funding that we're currently recipient to. Two figures Ive seen bandied around were 1M and 1.5 mill. This is not the same as the Gov is kicking in combined with context: Many seem to be of the slightly askew immpression that its ALL being done for us. Whilst we as a club would benefit immensely its the notion of the council that they are creating a premier sporting facility for the greater community at large. It serves both parties ( MFC & Casey ) to have each other as partners.

pretty funny stuff mate.. so sorry I cant abide your cronology. You went to great lengths to ridicule the idea at first.. and now you're onboard ??..well congratulations. Call me all the names you like. I really couldnt care less. Again I apologise ahead ..should this not fit in with YOU !!
-
OMR..I do.. more chance of me getting to a Sat game for sure. ( for me) as to yesterday..took family member to Hospital. ( pre arranged) somehow I think that trumps footy dontya think peeps !!
-
Only got to watch this today..( as previously mentioned unfotunately lesser happy things to do yesterday). Doggo Im with you. A practised eye will show up Bruce as one of the disguised Clanger kings of this club. For all his good..he delivers twice as much "woeful" going into the trenches Id want him on the OTHER side !! its just a viewpoint !! As much as it pains me Miller is changing his game. For one he's kicking it.. This really is taking some getting used to. Brad..keep it up mate.. Just be a little more consistent..and thoughtful where you do indeed kick it to..but its a vast improvement. The old McLean is re-emerging..tgft !! Beamer.. posibbly too one dimensional. Bartram Dutchy..love the guy..if more of us could play with his endeavour and comiitement. Hes not the sharpest tool in the war chest but he plays hard, he gives 110% of what he has. I like this guy..more should be the same player wise Morton.. feed him.. stick him in the gym. good value Aussie...ya not letting my initial thinking of you down !! go go go !! Small point.. sometimes it IS better to kick forwards...lol. need to rewatch the game again
-
You plainly dont get it !! You are viewing this whole thing froma very narrow perspective...and Id suggest a veryselfish one. That is to say..how it affects YOU. I think it might be very suggestible to a great many people that a trip to Cranny 3-4 times a year isnt to omuch of an ask. Again its a damn site closer than Carrara or Manuka !! By all means do us all a favour and go to Bendigo. AFL park..whilst having its short comings was able to pull a reasonable , smaller crowd week in week out. Yes Arctic park was a bit closer than Cranny, but is almost a carbon copy ( or rather the prototype for thinking ) in the case of Casey Fileds. Waverly Park was in the sticks.. middle of nowhere realtively to any tansport also. There is a much much larger probablility that Crnabourne East will be serviced by rail than Waverly ever was going to be. In terms of backing arguments. As were talking generalities re Cranny I think Ive shown a probabnly argument for going. Ive actually yet to see anything from you. Please enlighten us. I for one am always happy to learn.
-
St Kilda is moving to Frankston.. thats a bit more South than South East !!.. and what relevance is it that the G is 50 k from cranny..were you intending to go there first ??
-
yep your dead right.. lets just wave that magical wand and suddenly , despite no precedent existing..we will suddenly jump to 35000 members in 2 years. with all due respect..youre dreaming if you think this is the order of things. We need to try other avenues in ORDER to get his interest and galvanise a new generation into thinking the dees are at least a worthy choice... As they say..we have to take the mountain to Mohomed..coz he sure as [censored] aint coming to us under the present set up !! Its this semi heads in sand..denial denial denial or otherwise 'no idea" approach that has this club stagnated for years. Now a couple of , dare I say , mavericks have it in their heads to attempt to try something and the dizzy ones complain that we are abandoning our roots.. ..WE HAVE NONE !! Thats the great con. whilst all these other clubs grew from particular suburbs..we didnt. We developed a general and non psecific following. Then a supposedly mythical creature being the skiing ttractor drivving toof apparently emerged from its yeti like disguise to be the patron saint of all demons. But its a ruse. We had a great following from the start..and generations followed us ..but they were from all over the place. Then many in teh MCC sor tof adopted us as were were after all the cricketing mobs footy dept. So we got them by default. But hey were never really us either..as we now know theyd rather stay MCC then be MFC ..Ever since we were slowly shoe horned from what we thought of as our rightful home we have become the dispossed. We are all but the the AFL version of a generic..The Nomadic Generics...thats us. We thought we were of the city..but the city abandoned us. So we need some roots somewhere. West of the city...nup.. Dogs own that. North.. Essendon..and Tiges have eyes for it too. The money avenues.. nup.. Carlton and Collingwood..the nouveau rich!!. South.. Saints land. SW ?? Not corio -land..its blue and white there. The Tassie Squacks have teh East ...Only teh South East left ! suprise suprise SUPRISE then that MAcca, Gardner and Cuddles have their GPS's set down the Princess. This is the new fronteir. This is the new land of riches..and actually the only one left for us. We dont have time to scratch our collective arses and "WAIT" for things to get better, we have to do something. At long last it seems the club has the will for it too. Thank god for that!!
-
I do. Were only talking about 3 or so games a year in all likely hood. ..well Season proper games.( though Cuddles I think want to play al lpre season ones there) Would we be better to play them in Tassie... Canberra.. Gold Coast.. all of which last time I looked were a tad more inconvenient to pretty much all except Martians than Cranbourne !!..yes probably a bit thick with sarcasm..but thats the choice.. its not the G or Cranny..its "other " places!! As to the notion from where ever that people already have allegiances so lets play in Brunswick!! What a nonsensical scribble; are you counter suggesting they WOULD ( collingwood supporters) watch us play Freo at the G?? Youve missed the point entirely..go back and read all the threads I suggest !! The point is theres a new gen coming through.. they DONT have allegiances yet. They develop them from who they come in contact with at school.. at the local footy oval etc etc. Its how most of us came to choose a team. Cranbourne is generational in context. Its not a quick fix for next week etc. Its a foundation stone and must be looked upon in that light. If we have heance to get practically ALL the gate at Casey..how can we NOT make money ?? Only Geelong in Vic has this sort of deal. We cant do what we have..its sent us broke!! on more than one occasion !!
-
youre right mate...lets just keep on losing money hand over fist...what was I thinking !!
-
Neitz, Yze, White, Holland - retirements will free up $1.5 million
beelzebub replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why ?? they may be thinking of it.. but all "mail" has them both retiring at end of season.. Some serious whispering is that Jeff WONT go around again -
I think many seem to be missing a few blatantly obvious parts to this eqaution. We essentially arent paying for this Stadium !! In terms of equity , assetts and costing its not a big investment!! We make nothing ..it costs us to have any less than 20000 at the G..even if we get 25000 there its peanuts to us. The only games worth us beiug there are for games attracting approx 40000 Where in gods name does this stereotyping happen that all Demons come from the bloody inner bayside and eastern suburbs ?? An Yes VANLO if you make a sweeping statement that its going to inconvenience most of us to go to Casey..substantiaye it please.. just be nice to know how you arrive at it?? Keep in ming the vast majority of Melbournians live south and east of the CBD..only approx 1/3 live to all other points of the compass combined. New groth IS expected North and NW of the CBD but it'll be smal fry compared to the MILLION expected to grow in outer South East..Governments figures..not mine !! The Cranbourne line WILL be extended sometime in next 2 election periods..more likely inside of 3-4 years. Who says a Stadium has to be profitable to the community to make it useful for US ??? its a multipurpose ..multi user assett, thats its value. Casey are bending over backwards to get us there.. lets not be so stupid as to dismiss the gift horse . if we are to survive we need to become smarter, better at business..more savvy.. we need to become the NEW Melbourne Demons to a new generation. People you need to think a little more than the next 5 mins here
-
with al lrespect Vanlo..the decision wont be based upon the you's or I's... it wil be based upon projected economics !! We can make money at CF playing the non-drawing foreign teams...and we can still play the bigger games at the G. Just too much sense really. [vanlo]""but for the majority of melbourne it wouldn't be"" ??? you'll need to justify that argument..little water holds !! This is about growing a NEW future..coz our current "present' is just a tad precarious!!
-
Why would it be THAT expensive...relatively speaking. The right of way goes right past the facility after all !! This is the same Casey ( council ) thats spruiiking a bloody monorail elsewhere. The proposed Cranbourne East station is only 500 m from the Fields !!. A shorter walk than from Richmond to the G !! all things are possible...esp if Jeff isnt premier !!
-
Who the F*** wants to go to Princess Park..ever ?? its not the same. There a re a lot of people for whom Casey is actually closer than the G..me for One. A reality is with the new teams comingin..we cant afford to have smal lturnouts at the G..but we would actually MAKE money playing at Casey...its really a no-brainer..surely!! A Case of..play at a venue like that..or we get Jeffed !!
-
NO..its a very costly thing to have a multipurpose venue. The designs for Bubbledome is locked in now. Part of the idea of a 2nd venue at Casey is to build a following..thats still a problem for us. But if we suddenly jumped to 30-35000 strong..then look out AFL !!
-
http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/dees...1183110808.html This isnt really news to many of us following the events etc unveiling with the Casey dealings but it does , to me , make a lot of sense. One thing we dont reallycontrol at present is either the "Gate' or advertising. Playing some games.. maybe 3,4,5, whatever at a smaller venue will return millions..( yes foks..Millions ) to us. Not only give us money but help stem the haemoraging tothe purse when these games are held at the G. Just Like Geelong it would give us a TRUE home ground advantage.. A move like this ISNT abandoning the MCG. It will always be our true spiritual home but havind a secondary venue means we can have our cake AND eat it too!! Double bonus.. a lot closer than Tasmania huh Jeff !! I must admit one part of the article soert of grabbed me.. not too sure what to make of it.. "Why wouldn't Melbourne Cricket Club have a boutique stadium? They could do that.". Im not sure what but there is realy something afoot with this club !! Dont change that Bat channel viewers..stay tuned !! All in all I think the AFL will back this !! I like it.

there's a poll on the Huns footy page too... a bit close at the moment too <_< get voting !!
