well ..this is a little bit of a beath of fresh air..of sorts.. Some sense at last being discussed.. and without any undeseved knifing of the fork !! ( sorry ) Not that I thought i had any particular insight or was alone..or whatever in my thinking but am very gladdened to notice it hasnt passed all by as to exactly what Bailey is doing. Thats right its just wheat and chaff time. Said it elsewhere ..and othrs also agreed..( not that its my idea of course..lol ) but in order to rebuild...first work out what you realy have to work with. From exisitng first 22 ..youd need to be a fool or overly optimistic to say we have lots !! We have some...only some.. Bailey is simply testing and identifying them. In many ways its irrelevant whether we win 1 , 2 or 6 games this year...or inded any !! Its a learning curve. The benefit is in the knowledge ...not any premeirship points. Many Demons are just going to have to learn how to cope with that ( many of us have had years of practice ) Thats why Bails isnt concerned...he's working off a longer plan to rebuild the club...not any wave of the wand like reincarnations in 4 weeks. I will be quite open and frank to admit when Im attending any games this year its really to witness the subtle second level happenings.. the game within a game as it were. To see who's paying heed and learning.. to see who wil lbe there next year. Its almost like watchig a babe grwn with in a womb.. its not in public..but its there..you have to look. Theres the old adage...if you give a person enough rope.. well folks Im sure that just what Bails is doing.. its rope all-round !! The decisions as to who to keep..who to develop...who to remould are all being made out there before your very eyes...there..and at TBO etc. This year is a start.. its part of a longer many-year program to reinvigourate and consolidate a fighting machine . Others have said it.. and yet many dont listen... you need to weed before you sow and folks its Weedamania out there !! I disagree with teh idea that the 17-18 effect can be dismissed so lightly. Its very likely that these teams may take what would possibly be some of the better picks that may normally befall us should normal events transpire.. By that I mean..look at the picks the recent cellar dwellars have had ove last ten years. If we are in rebuild then we will undoubtedly finish low and be up for those picks. Along comes the Spider ( AFL ) and takes them off us and others and hands them on a plate as sugar coated goodies for the newbies !! Well that cant be ignored.. If you do..you must have head in sand. Bails, Cuddles.. Predergast ..Williams etc all have their work cut out..and yet strangely I have full confidence in this mob, more than other recent combos actually. Dont despair fellow Dees... more burning off is required.,.but then out of the ashes will come a team !!

Why ought Bailey be nervous. He's not failing..he has 22 other to do that for him!! I think you will find Conolly will indeed ramp up his efforts...but they will like all others now involved with the club be to build..not cause dissent. Im not sure JR that you have any clue what this club is about.

I cant speak for anyone else...so I'll just do it for me. In theory we can beat anyone.. the ground may open up and swallow the oppostion or the Demons might grow some skills and competitiveness overnight..either works for me .. dont really care. I dont accept failure; not for anything. It's grossly unpalatable and not part of my personal creed. What I HAVE come to accept is reality. I work within realities and attempt to expand them to meet my dreams. If I want to learn to swim the channel I must first acept that water is wet, it is formidable and will sap my very being's worth of strength lest I prepare for it. I can only prepare for it if I acknowledge what Im dealing with. So I'll tell you what I accept about Melbourne; and by accept I would have you understand that these are truths I can not change, not for the present. I accept we have a very ordinary list at present . It consists of some aging champions of the club. It consists of some players who are/were never what they claimed to be. It consists of some players who seems devoid of the very basics in skillsets that would have any outsider to consider them as footballers at any level let alone elite. It consists of thieves in dsguise. You may recognise them from time to time steathally parading the sporting fortresses of this city. I also accept we have resources that curently put us behind the 8 ball. I accept that the Mighty Demons will probably for many years have a smaller following than many a club for this is historically so and until such times as the club's fortunes and attractiveness to growing generations increases this will be our lot. I also accept that the winds of change are indeed collecting abou tthe club. 'Tis only a breeze at the moment but all indications are we should prepare for some stormy weather, clearing before a fine change !! These and others I accept. How can I not ..for only a fool doesnt recognise their environment before attempting change. We have played 4 games..and probably only really 'contested about 6 quarters..and won only 1 !! I accept that. How can you not. I probably wouldnt accept that this is the desire or intent of the MFc. That we will probably in all reality lose next week to Carlton I reluctantly accept. But do I accept failure. No....Never. So please dont acuse me of that.. <_<

My only concern is I think youre a tad over optimistic regarding Sylvia. Apply your own uncompromising litmus test to him and he's no better. As to the rest..its a sad commnetary isnt it. There are some genuine lights at the end of the tunnel but will require time and utter uncompromising reality come years end. Very interested to see what teh hyped end of round 6 decisions are.

Those that religiously go week in week out..... good for you Those that go every now and then.......... good for you Those that manage maybe a game or two a year.........good for you Those that maybe get to a game every year or so....good for you Those that cant attend but provide in other manners...good for you Those that are members...good for you Those that arent members but still love the red and blue....goon inya Those that realy couldnt give a rats arse what any one else thinks and has a life and does what they want..and barracks for Melbourne.....good for you as well !! I think another way of looking at al this is that in order to carry out what Baileys ideally wants the team to play he needs players who have : 1) Ability and skills 2) fitness 3) commitment and competitiveness its not a case of 2 out of three aint bad !!..The game needs all 3 !! from all players. What we are now seeing is who passes and who's failing that bar !!

Then change the resources !! The clever pig figured that one out !! lol As some of the kids get more time under belts and show something ..the whaet will sort itself from the chaff. Bailey will gradually get more and better resources. end of year.. another chance to upgrade resources.

This is definitely a danger game for the Blubaggers.... without trying too hard they'll probably win and use up one of their games they can win and stil lget a prize !! They'll be sweating on this one !!

D666.. some of us lay no particular claim to any favoritism.. and have asked "the question " of many players over the years..including Neeta. But apparently some players are off limits. Its a preciptous path one treads when you start placing any player as out of bounds or beyond critique.. Whilst David has been a wonderful player for the club he is handsomely compensated for his outings. No one ought get money for jam !! Quite simply..the club doesnt exist for him ( or anyone ) ..he plays for the club. Well...he used to !!

This is illogical..as for all we have seen is one.. so where are ALL these plans he's using ?? What you are actually seeing is a number of differing efforts to try and get ONE plan to work with differig results.

What self respecting captain..or stalwart of a club...wants to be "carried" ??..He simply needs to do something.... If he does nothing then then let alone the club but he does himself no favour . Sharpen your arrows..or aim your barbs...I just dont see much leaderhsip going on...anywhere..but the focus is naturally on he who ought to lead !!

Oh ye that have no vision !!! I do believe Jaded ( and few others ) are onto the dilemma. Quite simply we are mismatched as to players and plan. Oh how obvious you marvellous Bub some deride...but wait..there's more. The real dilemma is that Bails CAN see where the game is going. Even if he could manage to get a coupel of the nongs out there to meld togethre for 5 mins long enough for a few wins' we'd actually be going backewards as the game would be rocketing passed us still !! Bails, I think , is attempting to instill into the club a game style that wil lset us up for the next 5-10 years. Its a quicker game.. a more possession game. A couple of fudged wins will atually acomplish very little. Anyone with half an eye will realise that only a handful of the current crop will still be around in a few years when we become really competitive. So ..we chnage our sourse to suit what we have now..and end up beaching the boat eventually..or we continue along and get the crew to do the job. I know this sounds liek heresy but winnig is irrelevent as such at the moment ...its about getting things right.. about attitude, about following team rules..about aplying for 100% of a game.. These are the foundations upon which any plan is based.. we arent doing too much of any of it.. we arent competitive enough to worry anyone. Bails has set a task for the Dees.. who can listen ? who can apply ?.. those that pass muster will be there next year.. others will go. You might as well get used to it some of you..we will win very few if any games this year. What would you prefer..a couple of wins this year with no gain going forward as a team.. or to get it right !! There's an expression...look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves... well.. If we look after the basics..and get them right...the wins will look after themselves. Its not Bails.. its the clowns in red and blue !!...get more clowns..

Food for thought.. If he is the great leader we've all come to believe.. he would show true leadership.. AND DROP HIMSELF !! SO I take it many of you have finally woken up !! welcome aboard I have no malice towards Neeta..but either youre there to DO something..or go find form...or move up the other end.. ..actually...just do SOMETHING !!

Am I missing something here.. what club wants to recruit a 30 yo ??..especially when youre building a side with realistic aspirations no closer than 2-3 years hence ??

By all accounts our players have no problems training with vigour.. so I see no gain in having his ilk in attendance !! At 30 odd....yep the ideal recuit !! He's gaaaaaaaaaaawnnnn !!.....not interested

not in a month of blue sundays !! There's better ways to bring 'speed' to our midfield !!
