Melbourne hopes special event will help slash debt
beelzebub replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is no doubt we made some less than admirable decisions, indeed on some occasions they were complicated and exasperated byother mitigating circumstances but that doesnt really absolve various persons from taking the rap !! Make no mistake..what is killing us now is interest..infact interest ON interest just like anyone who has debt. Its all about cashflows. If they are going into non productive areas then you are slowly going down the gurgler. If you can use them to build with, thenyou are getting somewhere. Given that we have even been able to make some steps towards paying off debt to date shows we can do things, we just need to get to the starting line. The MFC will get to play the 'joker' only once. Jimma has put it on the table and the rest of the hand will now play itself out. If we pull it off we ought to be ok.. If it falls in a heap ..well thats it !! -
10 important players going forward are in my estimation: No particular order Green Wheatley McLean Bate Wonaeamrri Garland Miller Jones Johnson (P) Davey they are known entities Others lurking: Sylvia ( stil not quite there for me ) Warnock ..encouraging Morton... up and comer Petterd...needs to get back on the track Maric... will surprise many Grimes... might just have something this kid Dunn.. Can cement a role.. needs more consistency Martin.. kid has something...just not sure what Have a lot of periphery players. Buckley, Bartram, Bell, Frawley, Johnson ©, Valenti etc We have others whose role is simply going to dimish.. even Junior.. White is near the end.. its bye bye Carroll.. das vidanya Jamar.. I cant be sure of Beamer or Rivers to include them in any serious look forward..they can hardly get on the track !!.. Bruce plays well (sometimes) is hardly elite.. and for me not important going forward, he can be replaced easily. and then theres a couple of kids still yet to see daylight. Not intended as a complet wrap up of all.. just in spirit of the 10 important. Miller is in top 10 ( cant believe Im doing that..lol ) but needs to build on what he's doing.. if its all flash in the pan..then sayonara baby !! edit: looks like I left Robbo out... oh well.....

Whoever starts the coaching at GC will only ever be warming the seat. They ought to get a Master and Apprentice set up.. Sheedy and some 2ic..with Sheeds bowing out after the new fella finds his stride. If done from the outset..theres no embarassment etc.. Probably far too much sense in all that. Still, be interesting to see what Vossy does after 2 years at Eagles and to see if he's any good more the point !!

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/kick...5658037197.html Oh dear..how sad....what a shame !!!!!!!!!!! Another wheel falls of Emperor Vlads little red wagon. All haste for little progress. Good for Voss..seems to be waking up to the realities of non playing footy after all. Its really quite obscene and insulting the way Vlad and Co are fawning over the idea of teams in 'foreign' markets at the expense of footballs heartland. Ive no problem with expansion per se..but a little decorum please gentleman...they ( AFL ) have almost got their collective flies at half mast in anticipation. Voss and the Eagles ought to do well together. Sort of says "were going to tank to get first pick to get Rich or Nui " in bold NEON doesnt it. Watts isnt a midfielder per se!! Voss isnt a nong after all !!

ahh dear...patience is not a universal commodity it seems !!

Melbourne hopes special event will help slash debt

warning: reading this may polarise views As a Demon I feel associated with the Devil and his ways of advocacy and so I begin. This might seem a little left field. I will temper my remarks with this prelude. Ive been following this gerat game and my chosen team for over 44 years. Ive seen a bit, been around a few tracks and had a few things of life thrown my way. This has taught me that not often is anything what it seems at first glance . seldom is a person teh book he presents and sometimes only an experience can offer you the vantage of enlightenment. And so here we go. This is an interesting time we find ourselves experiencing at Melbourne. Some see it as deaths door others as the exit from purgatory itself ( somewhat ironic given who we are ) . How you may see it or decribe it, what it is is an opportunity to recreate ourselves in our own image, as the Melbourne Demons, to be here for a long while and be successful. In order to be allowed time to do this we must erase our debt and build a solid foundation for future efforts.. To do so a rallying cry is echoing around the land...for money. One port of call is the littel man in the street, the week in week out barracker in the stands who invaribaly despite his/her die hard attitudes wil probably have the smallest of posckets. But did they will and dig fervently. Despite their best and combined efforts its unlikely any sum wil ldo much more than dent teh machine that seks to eliminate us. A hefty dent it might be bit no killer punch. The next lot are the more well to do lot, often seen amongst the names of coterie etc. Those who are more successful creatures in the big bad world, those whose lifestyles are paid in terms that add zeros to that experinced by most of us. They too will dig into their lined pockets and undoubtedly cough up a similar amount ( for far fewer people) This is another dent into the nasty beast of debt. They wil do it for the same motives invariably. to help the team they love, a team that brings occasional pleasure and must sufferance but THEIR team none the less..Again all noble acts with much satisfaction resulting. Then we have the corporate world where businesses and people mix and make better their lot all the whiles under the guise of sponsors etc. There is nothing wrong with any of this and I hope my descriptoin do only that and not denegrate any. But there is another group. When Institutions as revered as oursleves often come under the pump then the call to the old school tie goes out. Yes..spotlight on the Alumni if you would maestro !! Who would be the Alumni of the MFC ? Well for starters all its players toggether with their illustrous mentors and coaches etc. A lot of people have made a lot of money playing for Melbourne. Some still are or are because of their promotions in life afforded them by way of notoreity or accomplishments on the field.. Maybe even the current band of merry devils could contribute in a fashion...possibly some salary sacrifice through the foundation. Sort of giving without hurting ( too much )..call it an investment in their (own ) futures !! So hypothetcially you might get 5000 Average folk ( most likely members ) donating say $50.... eqautes to $ 250,000 2500 """ """ "" " "" " "" "" " " " " " " " " "" " "" " " "" " " " ""$100.''''"''' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' $ 250,000 1000 not so average folk " "" " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " "$1,000 "" " " " " " "$1,000,000 200 even less average folk ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' $5,000 ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' $ 1,000,000 50 folk...lovley people..salt of the earth.,. yada yada yada $10,000 ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '$ 500,000 25 even lovelier ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' $25,000 ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '$ 625,000 add to this 100 past and current players/coaches etc kicking in 10,000' ' ' ' ' '$1,000,000 not quite there at $ 4,625,000....but close......if that was 15 grand each from the alumni we're there we can do this people ) -

I feel its probably an aside to this.. but is possibly fundamental to its success , is that the momentum is swinging back towards the MFC taking control of its history. I cant for the life of me understand why teh club allowed the AFL to run as much as it has with OUR 150th. Whehter its been a great year or not..is besides the point..its OUR celebration. The eforts of the club, and Ill tip me hat to the man , as a result of Stynes coming on board ( well assuming the helm) certainly seem to have galvanised a lot of groundswell and turned it into momentum. There must have been a lot more angst behind the scenes than I realised. This seems to be in the process of relegatoin to history. One hopes time wil consummate this. Were turning from psuedo victims to masters of our own destiny, be that good or bad,,,its OURS !! The Titanic is turning.. it does so slowly.. after all its a juggernaut...but once it lines up its new course.. ..look out. The DEMONS are coming My pockets arent huge.. but am sure we'll all dig into them as we can in August. All the whiles this is generating good and POSITVE publicity. People like to see this. Many might even consider a membership where as in the past they may have thought us a lost cause. Its amazig often what6 positive thinking can accomplish . Good onya Foxtel also. Might this be the start of new Sponsors coming to the club ?? -
Melbourne hopes special event will help slash debt

None of us really want to rely upon it but I sure as hell hope theres some out there. I also agree that we 'shouldnt' have to..but what is...is. we need bucket loads..and we need bloody big buckets at that. My little bucket and spade wil only get me, let alone anyone else so far. If we can get some of the sporting world's philanthropists to get all warm and fuzzy about us.. go DEES !! Some may see a perverse romance in the notion that it would be so wonderful if tens of thousands of us wee little folk kicked in to save the club.... bugger that.. 3 wise men with oodles of gold and such...Im all for that :) -

Like many I dont hink its great practice to rely on the richy rich's of this world to absolve our debt, emphasis on RELY !! Even more foolhardly for mine is to IGNORE them. We're not exactly in a postion to get oo high on horse etc abou thow we do al lthis.. It just has to be done. All appeals to al quarters ..let the wind disperse the seeds of hope and lets see what comes back as a yield. Know it as absolute ..its the interest on our debt thats killing us. Get rid of that an we are more than capable of surviving. Good luck with any aideas and efforts..put them altogether and we might just get out of the poo yet I might have to pass on the 6000 grand dinner though -
Actually the best thing out of this...you got a reply in 20 mins !! Things must be changing !! Seriously..thats good...bodes well
-
I was going to say...fancy not putting Wonaeamirri in the top ten going forward !! Unless Jared gets 100% fit then he has no place in our top ten.. Id consider "options" for Rivers if he cant be servicable more than 75% of a season. Many wont like that..still ..a lot of people thought the earth flat once too

West Coast rest Kerr again!!! AND I WON $530...

I wonder who we can get to miss a plane..miss a train.. miss a bus next week !! and put themselves down to the magoos ?? :D Maybe some can come down with ari sickness and take the bus instead.. shame if they missed the game Maybe best the whole team hire a tour bus to go to these games, better to keep an eye on everyone!! Be terrible if it just drove round in the wilderness for a month !! By time it finds its way back to the G for the last round they'sdall be buggered.. Oh well..always next season eh!! Honest mr Vlad...we werent tanking..in fact we didnt even know where the tank was...if we did we could have filled it up at the servo -
Hmmmm !!! Very left field this. Others have noted he is an unlikley actual caption but the showing of some such traits is to be applauded. What is to be more applauded is you're not stupid enough to do it in the first place <_<

Does anyone actually take into conderation the nature of the game. Its easy to say a draw is crook or whatever "AFTER" some teams do well. If they didnt and things turned out differently then the take on the draw ( fisture) would be markedly different. You can only play the opposition that presents on the day. Sometimes it might work for you..sometimes it migh not. More the point..are we ( MFC ) going to be able to change it any time soon ? I doubt it If you're any good..it doesnt matter

How many consecutive years you have been a member?
beelzebub replied to LeBron James's topic in Melbourne Demons
well done Scorp..welcome to the fold.. Scorps been a member for a year..some are big-noting that they have been here for yonks.. In itself..fantastic. Could be taken otherwise. Been following the red and blue for over 44 years..been a member off and on.. works out about 50/50 Yes folks some years and eras Ive been that [censored] off with this club I thought it better to drink the money than give it to a bunch of idiots..and trust me this club has had its share. ( fortunately not a StKilda..lol ) Its great if youve been here a while.. I personally think its marvelelous if youve just come aboard as this is truly an exciting time. Many think this is empty rhetoric but I can really feel a groundswell. ..as others animate there's a disturbance in the force. Whilst some may take deserved glory in length of membership..It also ought to be welcome any and all that want to share the ride...fasten your seatbelts !!!..Happy to welcome aboard anote few thousdand 1 or 2 year consecutive members Go Dees -
Brilliant...just Brilliant. Oh you have to applaud the geniuses at the Junction Oval. I mean theres only so many "illnesses" a player can have.. so many footy flu's etc.. What do you do when you want to "REST" a player..especially going into a game you might do ok in..and the percentage is creeping up ?? A noble serf falls on his sword. Oh for its inventiveness its worth a Logie.. No an Emmy.. no bugger it..give the man an Oscar. Simply brilliant !! Oh there re be amongst you some who dont see the humour or the cynicism ?? Please pay attention: The Sherman school of footy, class 101 !! Keep your eye on the prize Its Ok Bails... I wont spill...lol :D

he's picking "players" the niks are some form of a player's name..hes not picking posters..he's picking players !!..Well thats what it looks like..lol
-
The training facilities will be part of the extended pavillion . Training may or may not take part on that oval. A number of other ovals are being upgraded. Its actually quite a massive complex with much to offer

lol.....snap....pmsl !!!!

The Force is strong with this one .......

In the end Annakin had redeaming qualities..Vlad has none !!

Bravo...hear hear..etc etc.. Chris puts a couple of games together in a fashion that might have us thinking he's actually a handy player and all of a sudden he's a Trapper??. ..I'll have whatever they are !! Johnson has a long long way to go yet to convince me that he's really the goods. He has always shown glimpses of soemthing but never really had the package. If he can cobble together something week in week out then he starts being useful otherwise he's just another hair-tearing-frustrating imposter. He does seem to have the appearance of makign anattempt at stepping up. I hope he does. He actually has some qualities I like...but its getting it allto happen at AFL level that has been his problem. Id actually persist with him for the rest of the year. If he can crack it..we hae a winner.. if he doesnt..he's either trade foddder...or just plain fodder !!

Meesen was acquired with a view to developing into a KPP...been a raging success so far ne c'est pas ??
