I dont mind 3 or 4 Sunday games. ( I'll still not get to them all but thats another thing ) Its all about some sort of balance in all this rather than what seems our permanent booking as the 7th day eventists !! I dont recall Gardner or anyone going out of their way to request Sundays, more that as a populace we would have adopt it and make of it what we can if that was to be our lot for the year. There are what 5 effective game times , with the Mondays being less opportune, but we have one We ought to play a few late Sat games when interstate and then really it ought to be a balance of whats left. That of course will not happen for some time., not until our stocks as a team and preople magnet rise along with our "broadcastability" We have a disproportionate amount of Sunday games. The only real chance is for more of the good ol' Sat ones. One caveat about al this is.. I personally dont mind if most of the Sunday Games are the interstate ones, that doesnt penalise us in Vic.

To be quite up front I couldnt care less if we were 'tanking'. Season prepping seems quite reasonable to me. It amounts to jockeying for position when they hand out the lollies !! Only a fool wouldnt. As long as the competition benefits contestants in such a manner that they need to adopt this stance in order to replenish then boyu thats what you do and to not admit this as a tactic is in all reality foolhardy. False magnificence and bravado of self denial will do nothing. We dopnt make the rules, we simply try to work within them to advantage, call it a tactical retreat if you wish. Theres a time to stand and fight and a time to recoup and gather yourself. Win tomorrow ?? doubt it... Should we ?? doubt it. Should we go out to lose.. ? NO . Dont have to. Bailey is developing for next year. You cant do that without trying things. He ( DB ) has signalled that what was...was. Player pecking order will no longer be based upon what yo might have done but what you may be able to do tempered with what you are showing on the track and any opportunities to back it up in the big show. I will state my position simply.. I dont want to see another win for the year. There is no sense in doing so. What I want to see is intelligent experimentation by the powers that be together with a competive tilt by those entrusted to develop. Im more concerned at the moment that the players hone their game in preference to harming the scoreboard. I want to see the little things signed off on rather than any singular moment heroics. I want to see players imposing themselves in a manner that creates a consistency of resolve with ability. Call it live training if you will. There is a changing of the guard...theres bound to be stuff ups.. thats why you practice. Thats what were doing.. practicing and building...but theres no sense winning right now..To win is to lose' only an idiot doesnt get this !!

What we are now witnessing is the long awaited ( and wished for ) evolution of the list. Hurrah !! Hooray !! Many have wondered about how to play Jeff next year. Ive always been under theimpression ( and there was a quip, cooment somewhere by him ) that its indeed unlikley he will even go around next year. We all say...get a few games into people....let some assume the mantle they desire or caveat. This is it. The future of this team is not the Yzes, the Robbos, the Whites or Carrolls...not even the Jnrs !! Certain folk such as Bruce might want to have a good look over his shoulder. Just being on teh ground getting a kic inst good enough.. you have to contribute in a way that warrants yo being out there...that is ..you..and no another player. Bailey has the opportunity and indeed the mandate to find out what some of these guys can do..then slot them back into the magoos... and run the season out protecting the future talent. This is going to be one hell of a trade and draft this year Going to be very interesting come 1.10 on Sunday to see who is actually where and on whom.

Junior wouldnt need to be part of any formal group to be a leader...he just goes out and leads by example anyway. I can see him playing out his twilight as a "regular' bloke though.It would be very "him"

This is something most wont likel..You will need to temper lofty expectatins with the reality that if youre( as a club ) are a bit uss ) then quite rationally others will be too. Again we come back to the 'weighting 'of all things. We have to weigh his value ( and others ) we have to weigh teh offer..and we have to weigh teh 'loading " any offer has in view of the reality this is the last fair and open draft for some years. Without doubt some serious cranial crunching of variables. None of which I could see satisfying teh most ardent of Rivers supporter. Its whats best for the club, not whats best for him...its a cruel world as Flaco would say !! A third round pick on its own probably wont hold sway... Another aspect to al this...The nautre of the foot traffic that will use the new facilites is just what the doctor ordered regarding a target demographic for potential members. If the Melb boys get it right 'our' presence wil be duly reflected.. The more and more people see those emblellishments the more its indoctrinated into the pysche. A bit like product placement.... in fact..exactly like product placement A clever club would make sure that whomever is responsible for marketing etc would ensure that every retailer of sporting paraphanalia would have good access to Melbourne product in the environs of Casey and nearby

CASEY FIELDS EARMARKED FOR 'WORLD CLASS' SPORT STADIUM This is very much a side to things many may not be aware. Much of what is to happen at Casey Fileds is/was going to happen anyways. All part of the Master Plan. see: Casey Fields Master Plan Casey were in the market for a Development partner. Whether this was to add prestige or clout to the project is arguably subjective. With St Kilda being the affiliated they were the natural first port of call. Linton Ave had other agendas and anyone whos ever hung around Linton Ave...they have some strange thinkings at times...makes us look like geniuses!! With the "Flinders St ..all change" goings on re Melb/St's Sandy and Casey it fell to the incumbents of the project to sound us out. Common sense would suggest that's a natural path. Indeed events to date seem to reflect this. Melbournes role possibly from a Casey standpoint is to help Headline the development. To put it on the map. Observers of all things Casey ...they like maps..and them on it !! Casey is not shy to think laterally... and personally I think as things have transpired we may indeed offer Casey far more than teh Sainters ever could. Our Heritage ( theres that bloody thing again ..lol ) is suggestive ( if nothingelse ) of longevity and substance. These are qualites the project might like to take on board. Our financial position?? well..... lets gloss over here for the moment.. Beleive it or not we actually bring some serious street creed class to teh place . Not to diminish any legitimacy that CF has anyway.
