  1. From memory Sylvia played the TAC cup as a forward because of OP and everyone had his upside as being able to move into the midfield. I don't think he was ever rated as a pure midfielder.
  2. It's a misconception because he is such a good kick. The fact he is hard as nails and wins his own ball is just a bonus.
  3. We have an easy draw We have the best culture building coach in the league who has had a season to repair us We showed massive improvement at times last year and had a couple of losses that should have really gone our way We have plenty of early draft picks as a result of the 8 years of meritocracy who are now in the right environment and are ready to go Harry O and Garlett are both great players in their own right but also play roles we desperately lacked last season Hogan won the b&f at Casey as a 17 year old power forward. That is unprecedented. I stand to be corrected but I don’t think Dermie even won the b&f as at 18 year old when he played the season in the reserves and then debuted for the Hawkes in the finals and dominated. Petracca and Brayshaw are built and skilful enough to play roles and have an immediate impact. We now have almost no “project” players taking up room on the list. There is real competition for spots. We have been terrible at winning stoppages and clearances over the last 5 years. We have addressed that and now have a stockpile of extracting / ball winning midfielders who will get it out to Salem, Watts and Toumpas Garland was in our top 3 players 2 years ago but never got going this year after having an injury interrupted pre-season and season proper. He will be like a new recruit Tyson and Viney will both improve Essendon will likely be penalised so there is one less team to contend with It is not uncommon for a team to go from near the bottom and charge right up the ladder. We did it under Daniher.
  4. The first highlights package I saw left me uninspired. Did not hit a target, Not sure who put it together like that and what the motives were.
  5. We should get Richmond's psych tester to test him before we commit.
  6. Thanks PaulRB. He hits more targets in that one than any other of the highlights I have seen.
  7. I have just watched again and he doesn't hit a target by foot in that footage bar kicking goals. I have no doubt he is a gun, however, I just haven't seen him hit targets by foot in the limited footage I have seen and the above link doesn't disprove that.
  8. How many leading goal kicking tittles and best and fairest's has McCartin won at Casey in the VFL playing against men?
  9. I just want to know what Richmond's doctor thinks of this diet.
  10. How good was Brett Lovett in the last quarter against the Bulldogs? Can't wait for his son. Stretch and Viney were pretty handy as well.
  11. The land rezoning to the benefit of Thompson is a fact.
  12. Bomber Thompson's "jackpot" after the land rezoning has been public all along. That our useless media didn't join the dots is the issue. It is has absolutely nothing to do with the state election.
  13. Hogan has won the b&f and goal kicking as a 17 year key forward at Casey. Quite happy with how it is progressing at the moment thanks.
  14. I think you are trying to disagree with me but agreeing with my point. Roads and trains. Mids and forwards (and backs). We need them all just got to make sure we get them at the right price. If you can't understand that maybe you shouldn't go there...
  15. It is not about one at the expense of the other (midfielder or forward). That is like those simpletons who argue for trains not roads. We need to improve all areas and use our resources as best we can to do that. Let's take best available and find a fix for the other problem in the most cost effective way. At the moment Roos seems to be going about getting midfielders without giving away much. Think Tyson (gun) and Michie, Pig Dog & Newton (albeit not yet proven). We will need to give away a lot more in the future to get a decent forward.
  16. I'm pretty sure I posted that in a response to something on the welcome to the MFC Frost thread.
  17. Garland has played some very good football for the red and blue. He had a bad season this year coming back from injury and without a pre-season. I hope Frost proves to be a great pick-up but there is no way he gets a spot ahead of Garland round 1. And whilst Grimes probably hasn't reached the same heights as Garland he is our co-captain and there is no way Frost gets a spot ahead of him round 1 either.
  18. Hogan won the goal kicking and best and fairest at Casey in his first year as a 17 year old. I wouldn't be betting too much on Garlett.
  19. I can as a MFC member. I am the most overoptimistic supporter / member going around but when we serve up some the rubbish the MFC has served up over the last 5 years sometimes the only solace I take during the game is who should be subbed off. It's a form of instant gratification before we drop (or fail to drop) someone the following Thursday. Otherwise, I agree it is a rubbish rule.
