  1. Essendon looks certain to not play finals as negotiations between the AFL and the club moved swiftly towards a resolution of the crisis that has engulfed the game. http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/bombers-set-to-miss-finals-20130823-2sh01.html
  2. there was nothing sly about the afl releasing the charges. they were clear that this was coming within a week of it being given to essendon, and so it proved to be.
  3. can play ruck and go forward to kick a goal, or play forward and relieve in the ruck. is still young, and very agile for a big bloke. very happy to have him signed up.
  4. the players were never in the clear in the first place. asada's report is ongoing, and remains as such. the interim report was exactly that; interim.
  5. robert champion de crespigny is a name long-associated with the mfc. was partnered with gutnick as part of the takeover of grand central mining.
  6. Will miss him. Was at that game against Kangas in Canberra where he turned it on in the pre-season and we all realised we needed to do something to get him upgraded on the list. He was fantastic to watch when at his best. Now, how many boys does he have???
  7. that lack of effort on hill had me sitting up and applauding. thought he'd cleared the space beautifully to allow his teammate to run straight through it. he'll look terrific in purple.
  8. Based on his performance today, he has no interest in playing for us. He can go. We won't get much for him.
  9. Beautiful shepherd by Watts to allow Hill to run into goal unchecked. He has no interest in representing our club whatsoever.
  10. Calling it right now - Jack Viney will never be 'Melbourned'. Kid is a gun. His attack on the ball is Selwood-like.
  11. such is the joys of playing footy. fingers crossed it's nothing serious.
  12. I see yr Maric and Brent 'the original Watts' Grgic and raise you Darren 'Moo' Kowal! My cousin tells a story that apparently he ran off as part of an interchange and I stood up and hollered 'and keep running!!'.
  13. there's no guarantee that any senior coach - be it roos, eade, or choco - will want him at the club on the basis of his performances over the last five years.
  14. Freo supporter I know rates him extremely highly.
  15. They want pick 1 to on-trade it, no doubt.
  16. No. Adams is a very good player, GWS will want significantly more than we can offer for him. In my ideal world we'd get pick 1 as a priority pick, trade it to GWS for pick 2 and Adams. Would love to try to get their pick 10-ish too in the deal.
  17. it's turning into a massacre. we really are woeful.
  18. that's rubbish, right there, that's what that is.
  19. we are ruining a perfectly good game by being shocking at football.
  20. I thought 08 was pretty woeful, probably the worst year I've seen us play since I started following the club in the mid 1980s. But this year is worse than that for mine.
  21. if it's choc, then craig will walk. if craig stays, choc won't come. it's roos or eade for mine.
  22. i don't care what anyone says - as someone who used to go see the swans on a regular basis at the scg and stadium australia during roos' tenure they were incredibly exciting to watch. quick ball movement off half back through the run and dare of the likes of barry, kennelly, et al, a big power forward in hall, a smart mid-sized forward in o'loughlin, and in adam goodes one of the best players of the era. they had a blue-collar midfield who worked incredibly hard for one another. this is why i want roos; i believe he instils a real team ethic in a group of average players to the point where they were able to win their first premiership in 72 years. as i've said before, i also think he brings a 'whole of club' mentality; people i know who worked at the swans say that he was a brilliant communicator with all levels of the business.
