So, where to from here with pick 2?
whatwhat say what replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
So what do you want to accept? All of these guesses are speculative and not trying to be too outlandish... Adelaide - Rory Sloane and David McKay Brisbane - Tom Rockliff, James Polkinghorne and their first pick for 2 and 20 Carlton - no idea Collingwood - Sidebottom, their Thomas compo and their second rounder for pick 2 and 20 Essendon - no idea Footscray - Wallis and their first rounder Freo - Mundy and their first round pick Geelong - Duncan, Smedts and their first round pick GC17 - Swallow and their first rounder for 2 and 20 GWS - Adams / Shiel / Tyson and their mid round 1 banked compo pick for 2 and 20 Hawthorn - Lewis, Savage and their first rounder for 2 and 20 North - no idea Port - Wines (ha!) Richmond - Ellis and Vlastuin St Kilda - no idea Sydney - Kennedy and first rounder West coast - Gaff and their first round pick for 2 and 20 Sydney is probably the most likely which is laughable. Surely they have to free up some cap space! -

I really hope he comes through for us, and turns into a star. Used to love watching his dad take hangers -

I can see the headlines now... Highly rated #4 draft pick in 'getting better' shock -
and by two picks i mean their pick and another. barrett's theory is that hawks offer to match the deal, and then engage in trading - swap mummy and swans' 1st rounder for buddy and something else, presumably. i'd tell hawks they could keep him then if i was sydney, cos you'd want to trade mumford as per yr wishes rather than be forced to trade him to the swans.
-
deal is done. buddy to the swans as a free agent. their ability to get deals done is extraordinary. they're going to trade white and mumford and end up with at least two picks in the first round as well.

Hope Swans land Buddy. Eddie's head might just explode over the cola. Swans have had a host of players retire, might lose Mumford, no wonder they've got cap room. -
crackers keenan said on mondayitis that scott burns is looking increasingly likely as the man. interesting, cos i was told on the weekend that he'd been told he was out of the running, and was likely to be at the pies next season! (ahead of taking over from figjam when there's a putsch on mcguire in 2014, and then buckley, in 2015, haha.)

2013 Player Review - # 31 Jack Grimes
whatwhat say what replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
i hope he is the sole captain in 2014. an excellent leader of men, speaks brilliantly in both a casual and corporate environment, and i think he's under-rated as a footballer. -
this. 10kg of muscle should see him maintain his mobility but be a tough fella to move off the line. if he can maintain fitness and we can build a midfield around him, we'll be right.

2013 Player Review - # 20 Colin Garland

Thought he was our best player this year. Imagine him in a side not copping so much ball in the defensive 50. -
2013 Player Review - # 19 James Strauss

What did he poll in the Casey best and fairest? Lots of people raved about his games at VFL level, but I seem to recall he didn't make the top 10 in the votes - does anyone know how he polled? -
2013 Player Review - # 21 Cam Pedersen

He's like a poor man's Dunn. - too slow for smaller match-ups - too short for key position match-ups - not skilled enough - not strong enough - has a big kick on him - regularly fails to hit targets Echoing what everyone else is saying on here, but three years was a disgrace. -
I think our only must-holds are: N Jones Watts (by dint of the fact that we signed him to a new deal) Dawes Viney Frawley Clark Garland McDonald (although that would change if Chip signed an extension to his current deal) Gawn Unfortunately, they are more likely than not the players with the greatest currency on our list.
-
McDonald's defensive actions are superb, and with Chip an RFA next year there's no way that they'd look at trading him I don't think. We'd be left with Garland and Dunn as our only talls in the backline. On Howe, I envisage he and Watts alternating from half-forward to wing, where one will always push defensively. He definitely needs to work harder on his game when not in possession, but he seems to have the application and desire to do so. Our biggest issue at the moment for this trading period is that we don't have a lot of currency to work with.
-
Sadly true Django.
-
Please, Strauss wouldn't ave any currency. He's 5 years into the system and can't get a game for one of the worst teams in the competition.
-
One of the big advantages of Adams and 10 for 2 is that it allows GWS to effectively swap two players for one. They need to start pruning their list back to normal levels, as we've seen with GC17, and still being able to being in top-end talent could play a big part that.

dew has played under first john cahill, then mark williams and alistair clarkson as coach, been an assistant to the latter (i think), and longmire as well. not a bad cv. scott burns credentials are solid - norwood boy, under macintosh as a skipper leading the way, then malthouse as a coach, followed by being an assistant to woosha, yes? who's simpson been under?

Jack Watts signs new 3-year deal
whatwhat say what replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
i'm really pleased he's signed, we can't lose what little talent we have, and there's no doubt he has talent. i really hope he can prove me wrong and become the player that we NEED him to be - a star. i have my doubts. i'm not sure how he'll go as a mid. my biggest complaint against him is that he's lazy; both to work hard enough to be in a position to influence a contest, and also defensively. those one-armed tackles are nothing short of pathetic. but it's great he's signed. as gerard whately said mid-year during the season and reiterated on 360 tonight - it's YOU jack, it's YOU. -
adl's story rings a bell - whether i've read it here or elsewhere i am unsure.

When Do We Find Out About the Priority Pick?
whatwhat say what replied to Grimseyisgod's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah, nice theory, not gonna happen. We are being conditioned by afl leaks to the media that we aren't going to get one. As I said to a hawthorn-supporting mate last night, it's not a question of 'deserves' it's a question of 'qualifies for' and 'requires'. If Melbourne don't qualify after 7 years of abject failure, who does? Essentially, i don't believe anyone should ever get one again if Melbourne doesn't. -
he'd be very big for a midfielder in the afl - what's his pace like? can he run all day?
-
very small though, yes?
