  1. disagree on trengove, his tackling is vital to our pressure around the ball. he's deceptive and gets more of it that you'd expect.
  2. oh, how i wish howe had held that! well done davey.
  3. toumpas cannot go with hanley. watts' second effort - or lack thereof - that saw the ball come zooming out of defence was disgraceful. frawley is in rare form. new contract soon please.
  4. Viney, Fitz and Frawley excellent so far. Viney is just a class above everyone else in our midfield Interesting that Grimes has a tagging role tonight on Rich. Doing it well too
  5. Agree with Derm as well - Chip's last three weeks have been excellent
  6. Lack of defensive intensity costing us already. Players are blowing hard - Sylvia standing with hands on knees huffing and puffing.
  7. My usually fairly accurate source who said he was as good as signed two weeks ago is now saying its west coast all the way. I guess we shall see! If true, Scott Burns will definitely be available as an assistant back east.
  8. I'm actually thinking entirely out of the AFL coaching world. There's a massive difference btw teaching the NSW juniors and overseas imports how to kick, mark, and handball and working with experienced players and implementing tactics etc.
  9. With the sheer talent on their list, GWS should be a powerhouse by 2016. Of course, I recall plenty of commentators saying the same about the MFC in 2011...
  10. I think we will know more about 845pm on Monday. The question will no doubt come again from Shehean. If he categorically rules himself out of coaching, out of coaching the MFC, or if he pulls put the whole at the moment line we might have a greater understanding of his intentions. Of course, we might not... The other thing to bear in mind is that 2014 might be his last opportunity to become a senior coach again - another two or three years out of the system may rule him out forever. Compare it to Eade and Choco, who have remained involved in coaching.
  11. morton's first season was arguably much more impressive than what we have seen of toumpas so far. i remain confident that jimmy will not end up where morton has some six years into his career. and i'm not even a massive wrap for the kid!
  12. quality journalism lives on at the age: Roos set to reject 'attractive' Demons coaching job Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/roos-set-to-reject-attractive-demons-coaching-job-20130716-2q0sm.html#ixzz2ZASeszTF not only do they not have any direct quotes, they simply regurgitate what was said otc and fc last night, none of which could be remotely described as definitive.
  13. Don't go there old dee. Every time I are the Eagles play I cringe. What a disaster our drafting and development has been.
  14. blame the manager not gws, I believe.
  15. had one kick since coming on midway through the third. I can't get over how skinny he is. looks miles off the pace, as you'd expect in a derby - frenetic game.
  16. Micky O is the one I've heard talk about as an assistant.
  17. no, a strong coach wouldn't. a strong coach would work with him to get the best out of him. that's the sort of negative feedback that mark neeld goes in for. the leading teams worldview has a hell of a lot to answer for; if implemented correctly it can work well, but if it's done poorly...
  18. It is not atrocious, that's a fallacy.
  19. his ball use was excellent. but he missed an opportunity to take a mark in defence in the second quarter because he was scared of the hit - had an 'uncontested spoil' instead. once he backs himself to take those grabs he'll be good. we desperately need the likes of viney and [insert draft pick(s) here] to get the ball on his hands. he's a lovely kick.
  20. he's also soft as day old butter left out in the adelaide summer sun.
  21. we are still woefully soft. but the effort is there, as it has been since craig took over. gotta sign gawn up, for such big bloke he just is so capable, and he has the best underwear on the ground. lovely goal by byrnes.
  22. We are trying to be far too clever for wet weather football.
  23. Trenners' speed - or lack thereof - will be negated if the interchange cap comes in, especially if its at an extreme number like 80 - it's likely to be 100 I would wager. Players with elite endurance will benefit enormously.
