Farewell Jesse Hogan
Almost positive that Hogan played CHF his underage All-oz year but was NAMED at CHB...in much the same way that one year Pavlich played forward all year but was named at FB He’s a natural CHF, roaming up and down the ground, using his endurance to best effect

Andrew Gaff
Lycett will be at Port next year

Farewell Jesse Hogan
no to trading, no to playing him in the backline he's the best forward we've had in twenty years

As if we’re going to let either of them go other than for massive overs Frost would be depth at most finals-bound clubs and for the moment has guaranteed himself, injury-permitting, in finals football in 2018 Weed is a young developing key forward who has played bugger all football as a junior and there’s no way we’ll let him go He was fantastic today, really attacking the ball and kicking it beautifully He was cooked by midway through the third term but buttered up at the contest time and time again Saw three of his junior games and still think he’ll be the pick of the key forwards of his draft year...Curnow or no Curnow Kid has what it takes to be a serious, serious footballer

$1.2m per annum over 6 would gaff a very rich cousin...

Andrew Gaff
it would go nowhere near getting it done - it would be daylight robbery for us if he's leaving meth coke, it's as a free agent, not in a trade
-
Andrew Gaff
Seeing as Gaff has been clear he's not meeting with any clubs whilst in Melbourne, there's no way he met with Woosha in the last fortnight The link to the Peptides does make some sense nevertheless, given the pharmacist connection

Farewell Jesse Hogan
i just can't fathom trading a 23 year old key forward who should be about to enter the prime of his career he's got better every full season that he's played he is clearly a confidence player who needs to work very hard and his mental calmness on field to settle down, take the set shot in a familiar way, and then not get increasingly flustered and clearly apprehensive ABOUT kicking for goal despite seemingly buggering his ankle in the second quarter so far he has had: shoulder injury against the dogs hip flexor impact injury against the cats sickness before match against the crows, a game in which he was clearly hampered despite all this he still got: 19 possessions 4 marks 1 tackle 1 goal 3 before the emergence of plugger mac, he's clearly been the best forward we've had since neitz the notion of trading him seems utterly absurd to me

with multiple clubs now also interested in similarly restricted free agent lycett, it'll be interesting to see meth coke's approach and priorities

Andrew Gaff
He’s worth it And I want him

Andrew Gaff
nah, it's owned by stokes same same but different

Eight weeks, meth coke knocked out in straight sets in the finals, Gaff to the Dees, misses round one and two before debuting in Round 3 against...Freo at the new Perth Stadium?

$1m a year is not a huge imposition for one of the best mids in the game imo he'd not even be 31 and a half when a 5 year deal would expire
-
Andrew Gaff
no worries - 5 x $1m > 6 x $800k

2018 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
speaking to a stats boffin yesterday, he said he was amazed fritsch was allowed to slide into the (early) 30s i guess the likes of he and tim kelly have shown that if you are talented and dedicated you can pick the eyes out of the draft with any pick at any level

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AUSTIN BRADTKE
perhaps this is part of the reason we and a bunch of other clubs were so keen on him: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-07-31/lack-of-ruckmen-could-leave-clubs-short

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
may is a liability because he gets suspended at least once a year 5 weeks last year, from memory, and already a couple this year he's a thug, yet a thug that will cost a team high picks: moore - from pies to sydney for pick 10ish may - from gc17 to pies for pick 10, second rounder pick 2 - from gc17 to adelaide for a fringe player, pick 8 and whatever our pick ends up being (say pick 12-14ish) lynch - to richmond as a free agent, gc17 get pick 2 as compo carlton will pick walsh with pick 1 and crows will get lukosious with pick 2 gc17 will hold picks 2, 8, 10, and pick 12-14ish and be granted a compo at the end of their first round for being appalling (brisbane got previously; afl will always protect their northern states investments) as well as two second round picks - they already traded their own to freo as part of the weller trade they're in complete re-build mode
-
Andrew Gaff
Ah, righto - I thought you intimating he was finished at afl level Whats he worth? Fourth rounder?
-
Andrew Gaff
No one willing to give him a second chance?

2018 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
it's weird that at the same time that there's all this talk about how the afl must raise the player draft age that they're doing nothing to encourage the likes of the next kelly and fritsch et al to these glorified testing camps

Mark Neeld
meh massive mistake moving on...

i don't think west coast would want tyson or garlett, and i doubt picks that we will be able to offer them (e.g. this year's second rounders that we hold) will do them much good they'll either keep gaff or let him walk and use the compo pick, either as a trade or as an actual pick the general story today seems to be that they're keeping him and mcgovern and lycett, which seems remarkable - some speculation is that most of nic nat's 2019 payments can go into the injury payments, so they get some salary cap relief there, and then he's only contracted til end of 2020 i believe, and obviously won't be paid at the same ratio as current as he'll have missed three prime years of his football life with knee knacks - i'm sure he'll still be on $1m or thereabouts, but in terms of 2021-24 pay that'll be lower portion of cap to his current remuneration
