We are so so so so bad on transition
-
Oscar is hopeless.
-
Kent is having a shocker.
-
We can't play both McDonald boys. They make for two pretty uncoordinated defensive players who regularly stuff it up.
-
Love ya big Maximus Gawnius!
-
Ugh. Our lack of defensive accountability is appalling.
-
Very stupid by Viney.
-
We look 'off'. Kicks not hitting targets, handballs not attacking, tackles not sticking. Theyre not playing that well but we are helping them big time with some shocking defensive transitional play.
-
Their man behind the play is completely controlling the game at the moment. We are primarily the attacking team but our i50 entries are super poor.
-
Woeful transition from attack to defence. We push up into the contest too far, allowing so much space outside the back. Game is being played on their terms at the moment.
-
Dixon and Westhoff are obviously dangerous talls, and Wingard and Gray gun smalls. Our defence is going to need to be 'on'.

From what I was told during the week, expect Strnadica to be watched closely during the national champs. Seems to be a divide btw those who see him as a top 10 and those who see him outside top 30. Draft quality is apparently pretty tough to determine currently. -
fine in theory, but i think they're going to want players who can come in and play immediately, not possibly now, or possible in two, or three, or more years. the other option is to get a third club involved, but again it involves shipping something of value of ours out to get prestia in. it's going to be a hard deal to pull off i think.

definitely agree that gold coast are going to want a pick and a player in the exchange, as they need to inject some ready made playing ability onto their list. which of our mids or ball-carriers would you be prepared to offer as a make-weight, either accompanying a 1st rounder in 2017, or second rounder in 2016 or 2017, or both? nathan jones - no christian salem - no petracca - no viney - no trengove - does he want a fresh start elsewhere? his value is impossible to measure, and i place him highly in terms of 'team spirit' brayshaw - no tyson - no oliver - no stretch - no melksham - no newton - yes michie - yes vince - no jkh - yes anb - preferably not, but he must have some value grimes - free agent, so moot point? bugg - no vandenberg - preferably not, but he must have some value harmes - no dean terlich - they'd get a laugh out of the offer matt jones - he might have some value as a make-weight, but i can't see gc17 really wanting him other than adding depth to their squad so in my opinion we don't have much value that we'd want to ship out of the club, perhaps something like 1st rounder 2017 plus anb / vandenberg might get the job done. but it's a tough call to make.

And Doug Howard in for them, meaning Trengove goes back to replace the suspended Jonas. -
alongside kent and kennedy, he's part of our triumvirate of super dangerous small forwards.

we offered a huge amount of $$ and years to hooker to cross over from peptideville. i would imagine that sort of offer has severely coloured what tommy mac thinks he's worth. for mine, i can't imagine him earning less than $550k a year for the next five years. he's a very, very good defender and is only 23, turning 24 this finals-series. he's already, arguably, in the top dozen key defenders in the competition, alongside the likes of rance, talia, hurley, hooker, taylor, gibson, frawley, tarrant, et al. we need to keep him. edit: venom denham has said on sen a four, five year deal is nearing completion, and a deal for hogan is not far away. -

didn't cale have an issue with food consumption as well, where he couldn't eat to the required level to put on the bulk required for afl-level body shape? his first two years were pretty good from what i remember, but it was the lack of muscle and then a knee injury that hurt his third year pre-season big time. -

the issue with jesse is that in order to 'land' him, freo will have to give up something that we want. they will have high end draft picks this year, at any rate, but no guarantee that they won't rise up the ladder at the end of the year to be a major contender in 2017. i don't know what young talent they really could offer for us to lose one of the most exciting kpp talents to ever emerge - jesse is doing things in his first two years that it takes 'normal' kpp forwards up to five years to start to achieve. he's a freak, and i don't know how freo could possibly satisfy our 'demands' for him. -
He can't string good quarters at AFL level together, let alone good games. He's an amazing looking athlete but he's not a good enough footballer.

his run and spread in the last fortnight has been sensational - both offensively and defensively. he has pretty much come in and played the role of matt jones as a wingman who makes space and uses it well when he gets it. the big difference is his de% and that he's only 19. exciting times ahead - like others on this thread, i've been following his career since he was a skinny little kid playing for the glenelg underage side. fantastic if we can have a father-son 'bargain' come thru like sos; it's what helped make geelong a powerhouse (ablett, hawkins, et al), and looks like being a big help for footscray too (liberatore, wallis, hunter, etc., plus more to come this year).
