  1. It's true, the neck is the dangerous part, helmets in contact sports make you feel safer and use your head as a battering ram, helmets hard or soft aren't going to protect your neck. There's a saying in NFL "See what you hit"
  2. I'm a Jetta fan too, but don't see how he and Bate are in any way comparable or in competition. There's no need for Bate to 'warm up' at Casey (unless the coaching staff see he needs a message about defensive efforts). He's contributing to our scoreboard and is only just getting some fitness up. He's also the type that'll kick 5 out of the blue. He hasn't even been that bad. When was the last time you saw Miller or Newton repeatedly lead, take the mark, turn around and hit up a pass in a continuous motion? Never. Bate does it every week.
  3. I agree, reminds me a lot of the old Col Sylvia, after burners when he's got the ball, SFA when he hasn't. Think I've seen him run down a player just once, when he used Clint Young's face as a lawnmower. I'm a Bate fan though, and find it funny that supporters don't realise how dangerous he is when he gets warmed up. He's an offensive weapon and always has a hand in goal assists, that's too important to leave out of this side. He needs to switch on defensively to be a real part of this team, and get more physical. Bailey will get it out of him.
  4. I'm surprised his thighs aren't covered in blisters due to the amount of rubbing they receive. Looks to be going at 3/4 pace to me, was very good last week, good this week, but I reckon he's feeling something and doesn't wanna blow a hammy. His skills are sublime, let him try what he wants.
  5. Just don't sit near the back of the lower level of the southern stand. The standing Richmond supporters = feral central.
  6. haha the producers of that show have ruined TV for everybody.
  7. He's hardly going to come out and say "well we're not doing much training this week, the Tigers are a rabble and we waltz in, belt them for 3 quarters, leave the MCG at 3 quarter time to rest up for the Lions and still win by 12 goals" More like "We're training hard, we know they're under the pump and will come out fighting so we're not taking them lightly."
  8. Richmond's disposal under minimal pressure has been woeful this season. So against us it should be hell for them as our tackling and relentless pressure has brought 2 much better teams down to our level. We MUST continue that to get up. If we do lose this, it'll be the most disappointing loss in recent memory, I'm not sure I could deal with it.
  9. I voted Grimes, although it's a ridiculously hard question. We should trade some of them for lesser players to make matters a bit easier.
  10. He was on it last year.
  11. He got us off to a very good start on Saturday, he faded, but he's obviously not fit. He looked sharp in the first quarter. He's very frustrating though, the gulf between his best and worst is huge. He's a bit like Ricky, I wouldn't drop him just for the fact that he could suddenly snag 3 or 4 and assist 2 or 3 more. As HT says, who would replace him? Miller has done his dash. I like a Sylvia, Bate, Petterd HFL.
  12. The guy is a scumbag. As mentioned above, other players donated and some looked uncomfortable when asked about it. Not Brock, he'd tell anyone that would listen. He's a bit of [censored] that thinks he's a bit of a hero. Having said all that, I am laying off him.

  14. I liked it all. He believes what he's saying, what we're trying to do, there's no hesitation (apart from the Watts question) he has a plan and it's what we'll stick to. High quality kids growing and playing together. Interestingly on One Week at a Time they asked Nick Reiwoldt about us and compared us to the saints with their batch of top draft picks, Nick agreed that it is the way to go and has no doubt we're on the way to being a good team. With Trengove, Scully, Grimes, McKenzie and Jurrah to work with, plus our defence, only a complete donkey will fail with this list.
  15. One thing pretty much won me over life on Saturday. Scully backed into the hole with a rather large unit called Roughead storming towards him. I'd soil myself just thinking about it, he goes out and does it in game 1. Size doesn't matter Mr Newman. Bennell should take note.
  16. Miller out will be a huge kick in the teeth if true. No forwards at all, and he gets dropped. - and rightly so. It's about time. It's a shame that Newton is the replacement, but even he'd probably be more useful than Miller if he was given the same amount of chances. Cheney should get a game, which ever small forward Bennell lines up on will kick 7.
  17. Peep Show is the best. Also a fan of I'm Alan Partridge, The Office, Extras, The Young Ones and Bottom
  18. Spot on. This sport is fast becoming a joke. Willy nilly rules and rule changes, appalling umpiring, the tribunal has always been inconsistent but the last 2 years it's 'avvin a laugh. The new teams and their draft concessions... It's just one questionable event after another.
  19. Deluded? What garbage. People have been going to the footy for years and clap them off after every game no matter what. They're deluded now? Kids clap them off, players family clap them off. Some people would've clapped off Scully, Trengove, Jordie and Grimes, and you don't think they'd deserve it? Deluded... what an idiotic call. I didn't clap, and wouldn't clap, but I left before it finished. Was busy looking in bins. anyone wants a scarf, 5 bucks.
  20. Forget packs... If Jamar or Miller smash Hodge standing in a "hole" early on, give them the B&F after the match.
  21. I thought the umpiring was good for the first time in a lonnnng time, and I was going for Richmond. The Betts mark was an easy mistake, umpire was on the wrong side and even I thought Eddie took a ripper in real time. I can only dream that our game is umpired to that standard, because I agree, for a struggling team, bad decisions put a huge dent in any momentum you're desperately trying to build.
  22. 98% of the football world haven't seen it, so we'll refer to you as to whether or not they're consistent in the future. And LOL @ being consistent, why would they start now?
  23. He'll have a better beard than Grimes, who still wouldn't have started shaving yet. Although, he can let his football skills draw attention. zing.
