2 years ago, people would have hoped that 5/6ths of that forward line would have been pushing us towards the finals. Funny and depressing how things turn out!
-
Very happy with the changes. All of a sudden Watts, Green, Jurrah, Blease pushing for selection. Plenty of competition for spots. Sellar may never play again IMO. He has had 4 weeks to show something and has given bugger all. One day he'll wake up and realize his football career is over and he'll have to I've with the fact that he probably didn't do everything he could have. I tipped Hawthorn by 60 points but I think it'll be closer than that now that I've seen the team.

Generally means they'll play terribly and get thumped. Every time I watch them on the TV they get beaten!

I think if someone went back and checked previous seasons i think the trend would be just as strong. I've thought for the past couple of years it seemed to be that a lot of Rising Star nominations were awarded to players after playing Melbourne. If anyone's got time gt back and check. I'd be interested in knowing whether my hunch was founded. Certainly seems to have been this year.

Be almost worth getting there early. Looking forward to hearing the report.

Patrick Dangerfield ... Let's get him!

Agreed would love him in the red and blue -
Was a moving interview and report. What a great man! Just another Demon legend...

About to start...
-
Spends a lot of time barking orders and never seems to have an opponent. Part of the problem, not part of the solution IMO. Sadly we don't have suitable replacements.
-
Agreed. Brings nothing of value to the side.

Also very proud of the two captains and their handling of what must have been a very tough interview. -

Port Adelaide v Melbourne NAB Cup Week 4

I've seen this one before. Down by 70 to 80 at three quarter time. Outscore in last to lose by 50 to 60. Prove me wrong Melbourne. It may be NAB Cup but have some pride in your performance and jumper! -

Yet another horrible start by a Melbourne team in Adelaide. Sick of this club. -

Refuse to listen to this station. I would prefer to check the updates on Demonland. Whenever I listen to 5AAs coverage I inevitably end up smashing something of value. -
To be honest Dr Who I'm sick to death of "waiting" for draft picks to come along. I want the team on the park to start to bloody compete. This team has been sitting on potential for 2 years and I know the change of coach may have slowed us a little but losses like that against the Hawks last weekend shouldn't still be happening. Anyone else feel that in most neutral supporters eyes Richmond have gone past us. Makes me sick I'm really worried about this year to be honest. The start of 2011 I'd have said pushing for the 8 this year then definite finalists in 2012. I hope I'm wrong but I feel bottom 4 again. Maybe its the Hawks loss compounded by the Jurrah and FOJ issues but my opinion of the club is as low going into this season as it has been in the past 5 seasons. Hells

I haven't signed up yet and I had a call last week. Told them that I would sign up in the next month when my cash flow problem was resolved. The lady was very polite and understanding.

I'm a firm believer that pre season form should not be underestimated. A good run in the pre-season is generally a very good indication of the form of a team for the first 6-8 games of the season proper. If we play well and win the majority of the opening 6-8 games of the season you're a change to make finals for the rest of the year. You lose the majority of these games, people are talking about draft picks by round 8. I never underestimate the form of the pre-season, although the mickey mouse round robin comp makes it more difficult to judge.

This game needs some really good sportswriters
hells bells replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
John Harms is a really good sports writer. Tragic cats fan! His book 'play on' is a great read, a compilaion of three books, one about growing up as a cats fan in country Queensland during the 80's, another about horse racing and the nags they had running around the bush and the third is about following the Ashes Tour around the country in a beat up Camira. Humorous and heartwarming. Other than that Martin Flanagan and then daylight... -

Phil Scully offered GWS gig in November 2010!
hells bells replied to bing181's topic in Melbourne Demons
The most disappointing comment in this saga comes from Demetriou, who if quoted correctly has said that he "thought it was a stroke of genius" for the Giants to offer Scully's father a contract. Someone should ask him what's the point of the established 16 team competitions competing between 2014-18 when the organising body has so obvoiusly modified the rules to ensure that the 2 teams they need to be succesful will be. How will the supporters of existing teams feel when they are dudded by the governing body, whose role should be ensuring that the competition is as fair as practically possible. The whole thing stinks -
I don't know if it's just the yearly off season feel good kicking in, but I have to say I'm liking the smell of what's cooking at the club at the moment. Fingers crossed the meal turns out as good as the smell wafting from the kitchen.

Convince me Jack Fitzpatrick will make it
hells bells replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not sure he'll make it either, but I'm reminded of Garland's first game, I'm reminded of Frawley's first game and I'm reminded of Jack Watts' first game. All have showed a bit since then after being touted as duds. He may not make it, but it's way too early to make that call. Revisit in two years time.
