  1. This is the key point. i'm not sure contractually how they stand but those on the list under pressure IMO will be: Dawes 28y/o Lumumba 30y/o this year Dunn 29y/o JKH Newton Grimes 27y/o Matt Jones 29y/o this year Terlich Trengove In reality he is 30 next year and plays a role that is easier to fill than a KP. We have to make changes. I think he will struggle.
  2. I heard on the radio this morning that Seb Ross will come under MRP scrutiny. He would be a handy omission. Been playing good footy.
  3. Remember we have traded out first round pick this year. Every win we get and position we can move up the ladder makes that a better deal.
  4. I've heard he is not very popular among the playing group. Quite aloof apparently. Might be horse [censored]
  5. WW I have high hopes for Joel Smith after watching a few Casey games. How did he look to be moving at training?
  6. Assume Dawes gets a reprieve based on what you've said WW.
  7. Thanks WW, interested to see if there are any announcements regarding debutantes.
  8. Does anyone know when Roosy actually signs off? I hope he stays around to offer advice during trade week and for drafting. His record during this critical time can't be underestimated.
  9. Out. VDB, Dawes, Jones M in. Spencer or Hulett, Grimes, Trengove
  10. How do you know this DD36? I've seen it on Demonland but not actually heard or read it on any official channels or in the mainstream media.
  11. I'm a telstra customer and can stream all our games for free - I actually stream it to my Iphone and then mirror it to the TV through my Apple TV. It's not perfect clarity but it's certainly watchable.
  12. The National Draft started in 1986 and West Coast and Brisbane were introduced in 1987. Go back and look at the success of those earlier drafts and you'll see they were pretty hit and miss, with a lot more misses than hits. Adelaide came in in 1991 and while I'll acknowledge that both Adelaide and WC received advantages of players from the local SANFL and WAFL. They received nothing like the advantages of the GWS and to a lesser extent Gold Coast. Firstly, licenses for West Coast and Adelaide were applied for by the WAFL and SANFL so the money and establishment of the club's came from something other than the governing body. Secondly, these teams were fabricated in well established AFL markets where they were going to be extremely well supported both from sponsors and supporters. Accordingly, there was no push from the governing body to make sure they were successful as it turns out they were successful and continue to be successful not because of the advantages provided by the AFL. If you look at what the GWS were given and are continue to be given it's chalk and cheese. The major issue for me is that the AFL is conflicted, they run the competition and have a major and expensive investment in the GWS. They need GWS to be successful and therefore will give them an unhealthy advantage (such as the Riverina zone and academy talent). If the GWS were made to build the club similar to the way Port Adelaide and Fremantle had to, then I would have no problem with their success. Make no mistake the advantages they have been given are extraordinary. The AFL are trying to sure up an investment club in a disinterested market. They need them to be successful early and for a sustained period to make sure they get a return on their baby. You might think that I'm sooking about the situation and being dramatic. Let's revisit in a few years and see how things have gone. At some point in time the AFL has to decide if it's running a competition that is set up to be as even and equitable as possible or if it is running a series of events in the entertainment industry to maximize profits. While they are conflicted, running the competition and only some clubs it will leave a bad taste in my mouth.
  13. Don't underestimate the impact of Riewoldt and Montagna still. In their top 4 ball winners again. They are champions. Stevens very good too. As we know better than most, they play well at Etihad...
  14. Play 1 on 1. They are soft and play so so so loose. Hit them hard at every contest.
  15. When we play the Saints. I'd like to see us physically target Riewoldt and Montagna. Really bloody hurt them. I still think they are critical to their team and I think we should target them.
  16. I'll have a crack - glass half full 1. Adelaide - No - although not impossible 2. Fremantle - Yes 3. St Kilda - Yes 4. West Coast - No 5. Gold Coast - Yes 6. Hawthorn - No - although not impossible 7. Port - No - although not impossible 8. Carlton - Yes 9. Geelong - No I'm optimistic but the way I look at it: 4 probable wins 3 losses but not impossible 2 outright no chances 5 wins would be a good result. 2014 - 4 2015 - 7 2016 - 11
  17. Based on tonight's performance, we should have little trouble beating Freo independent of where the game is played.
  18. Is the theory that it would be a loan for the second half of the season or a permanent trade?
  19. I did a ladder predictor today and we took North's spot in the 8. Admittedly we won 7 games after the bye but I'd love to make it at North's expense.
  20. This is my worst nightmare. Missing out on a flag for over 50 years and to miss out to a team fabricated out of thin air and gifted so much advantage in talent by the governing body in the name of progress. Supporters of a club that's been in existence for half a dozen years tasting the ultimate success before hardened passionate supporters who have been through so many hard times and continues to put money into the club for over 50 years. It may happen to the dogs too. It'll break my heart.
