I think the Hawks are about 1 year off having a North Melbournesque fall. O'Meara is one player, they need to replace 4-5 champions. It's not going to happen.

They won't get 2 first round picks. This is their starting point. It's like any deal, the two parties start at opposite ends of the spectrum and then work toward an agreed middle ground. My guess is, if he is traded, it'll end up being a 1st round and a second, or a first round and a third. No club will risk 2 first round picks on someone with such a question mark on fitness. Imagine Rocket came out and said, we're only looking for a 2nd round pick for Jaeger. It's all just media games at this stage.

Watched the Port replay a couple of times, I thought Harmes was pretty average again. Missed targets and was caught a few times. Needs a spell in my opinion.

Those saying we shouldn't make finals, because it'll give us the desire next year are crazy. We've had a great run of injuries this year. There is no guarantees that next year will be the same. Imagine what it would do for the club: memberships, sponsorship, exposure, fixturing next year if we are seen as an improving, exciting team. If we make it there will be teams worried about us. I think i read that Brereton even said that if we make it there will be 7 other teams worried about playing us. He also said that he thinks we're playing as well as any other team in the comp at the moment.

There is blood in the water, these boys are hungry. I expect another good win.

I posted on another thread that I thought he was the one we should go after provided we can be comfortable with his medical. I think the list is good and deep enough that we can take a bit of a risk, depending on what GC want in trade. He hasn't played in 2 years so they can't expect a Treloar style trade.

My ladder predictor had the Swans finishing top and playing GWS first round of finals. Without getting into conspiracy theories wouldn't that just suit the AFL perfectly. It will guarantee 3 finals in Sydney nicely spread over the first 3 weeks.

IMO the guy who has been the most impressive and consistent of our youngsters missed out on eligibility by 1 game. Billy Stretch looks like he's played 100 games already.

Mills does look like a very solid prospect. And will no doubt be a great player. I just don't think we've seen anything near Jayden Hunt's ceiling yet. Extreme pace is such a weapon.

If you had to choose 1 player out of Hunt, Daniel or Mills who would you pick?

Obviously dependent on a medical. Can't see Martin, Kelly or Smith being available.

I reckon the list is very balanced and strong enough to make a bit of a gamble. i'd like to see them have a crack at O'Meara. We still lack outside polish. If he can get his knee right he would be the perfect addition. I remember when the Hawks picked up Burgoyne everyone worried that his knee was wrecked. Look how that worked out.

Harmes is the only one that I thought stood out as being likely to miss out. Hogan was obviously off but he should get another chance, get back to basics.

Playing in a losing side has in the past made it harder to get nominated.

I reckon these players have a taste for blood. They are hard, tough and Committed and they want to win and they know they are a chance to play finals. I'm expecting a very strong performance this week. 50+ point win.
