1964 VFL Grand Final - 60 Years Ago Today
layzie replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our last flag on the hallowed turf. I've said it more times than I can remember but that 2 mins of newsreel footage was played to death by me growing up being the only video evidence of us winning a flag. Maybe one day AI can re-create a behind the goal video of Crompton kicking the winner! -
Good on ya Kev, always appreciated 😀

Essendon in disarray - culture questioned
layzie replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Culture problems.. -
It was a moral decision that I am proud that we made. However the elephant in the room was always going to be how we would replace that revenue. Just five years earlier we needed serious AFL help and serious involvement from them in getting our club back on track. Without knowing the club's balance sheet that well I do know that as controversial as pokies were, they brought in consistent $$. I'm proud to support a club that leads the way in many social initiatives but I'd also like as to have a strong asset base.

I'm with you. Independent of the Red Bull stuff Pre Season is closer than we think. Up until now he hasn't been allowed to get the heart rate up high and he will likely need every minute of this off season to get himself right. If this is a beneficial investment of time then blow the B&F night.

Working in office fitouts you get to see the many ways that companies try to build morale in the workplace and make their office the 'place to be' especially after COVID. One office's claim to fame was having a Big Buck Hunter arcade machine and parading it round as a big point of difference over working in a place with a boring pool or table tennis table..

That's right, and especially relevant in Victoria so something to think about.

We need Allan Pease to dissect the body language in this video 😀

I sort of feel like Spargo's only chance to make it back into this team is as a high HFF essentially the Nibbler role. Like you I'd love to be able to utilise his kicking into the 50 ability but I just feel like he gets a bit lost when he's deployed on a wing. Stanger things happen though, didn't think Gus had any business out wide before we tried it.

If Finn Callaghan is even a bee's diaphragm chance of being available I'd be going full bore.

Better get to work then!

Any smile is a good one from him right now.

It's great news. I'm sure most in here are happy.

One step closer, good news. If we can get about 10 of what is in that render then we're set.

More cutting edge in front of goal, I see what you mean.

It never ceases to amaze me how few QBs actually know how to slide properly. I used to think it was a basic fundamental of being a QB but there are quite a lot who don't do it well consistently. Guys like Russell Wilson or Kyler Murray are naturals but it almost seems like if you didn’t play baseball as a kid or in college it’s just something you have to learn on the fly. I get it that players are competitive and want those extra yards but you’ve got the slide rule to help you, why risk it? As Aaron Rodgers once said: “Slide, you’re too damn talented.”

Texans Lions Chiefs No tipping the Niners again this week, another shock upset would be trouble but Gorg hanging it on me would be double.

Love a good 'lifehack'.

I just love the name, it sounds made up.

Yeah but Schache and Spargo were tied at no.4 in that stat so it's not the most reliable reference. Not saying it's wrong but just not enough data. In the few times I've seen Owies closely I thought he did make pressure acts but it's sounding like that's not his forte. If we're going to bring in another small forward then I want elite ability in one of these areas: - Speed - Defensive pressure - Ground work and crumbing - Goal sense and ability to split the sticks out of half chances regularly Any less than these isn't worth chasing IMO as we have enough 'nearly men' in our small forward stocks. As mentioned you guys have probably watched him a bit closer so if you think he can help with one of these then maybe it is worth it at the right price, just treading with caution
