  1. There is a massive difference in how concussion is dealt with today. Back in Frawley's playing days you get concussed you spend some time to regain your head then went straight back to playing. Most likely you would sink 10 to 20 pots after the game as well. Unless you were severely knocked out you wouldn't go off and if you did you most likely came back on.
  2. There ha to be something wrong with his body, can't accelerate, can't turn and can't jump. His biggest asset was his running capacity, getting up and back, thats why he worked well with Hogan, both had really good running capacity so one worked up and created space behind.
  3. Sydney yep but Collingwood touch and go, hopefully someone bids.
  4. I don't understand, Goodwin's comments Jack is Red and Blue, we want him. If that is the case with a little over 1 month before trade week starts why haven't we agreed to terms. You always will have negotiation take place MFC offer a lower amount, Jack wants higher and somewhere in the middle is the actual amount. Is the MFC offer to low or Jack's management think he is worth a lot more than MFC. Or like many players/clubs in the past what is said during the season is fluff and he is already out the door. The only other delay, has the AFL set player salary cap for 2021? I'm hoping the last question is the reason, but really how can other clubs be approaching player management if they don't know what they have to spend.
  5. GWS played pagans paddock for Cameron, he basically had the entire 50m arc to himself. Can't compare old school forwards to today, they basically played one on one or at worse had 1 player drop back in the hole. Also they had ownership of the forward 50m arc everyone else out. I'm not against bringing in a key forward, I am against bringing in one that will take 1mil+ out of your cap, we just aren't ready for that at this time
  6. Just need Adelaide and North to bid on the NGA and F/S picks so at least the best of the rest will still be in the draft. I thought Adelaide had a F/S that was pretty highly rated as will. Need to limit clubs to using their first round picks and not handing them a first round pick and using later picks for these NGA players. Gives those clubs with top end kids the opportunity to be super aggressive at trade week. Really the dogs/Syd/Pies will trade out their first round pick don't need it guaranteed player all they need is a points to cover through second and third round, worse case for them the get a club like us to trade our 2021 first pick for their 2020 pick. I don't think clubs will like future trading 2021 picks though with the NGA's gone
  7. The early ones yes, not so sure about Gysberts, Tapscott, Blease, Maric and Strauss never seen a collective group of top 25 picks that where so bad, Cook and Toumpas we just completely stuffed that up
  8. Agree we need another forward, I would rather go to the draft to get one, let Jackson develop and have another developing getting ready for when Gawn is done and Jackson takes No1 ruck spot. I don't think players mid 20 can improve their kicks, in fact if you don't have the correct motor skills by about 15 yo it is near on impossible to change. They can improve decision making and composure with the ball which will help but I don't think they can get to the level we need. Issue we have you can carry a few poor kickers we have an entire midfield of bad kicks.
  9. So he can stand there take his 1.2mil per season with arms in the air frustrated by the players missing him by 3-5m or kicking to him when it is 3 on 1. Spend that money on players who can hit a forward, we can kick enough goals if we can hit a target. It is chicken and egg spend all that money on a forward but get the same delivery which severely effects his performance or improve the delivery first. For that price tag we want to make sure we aren't going to flush it down the toilet and I think with current delivery it will be wasted money. I also think Weiderman can be a 50-60 goal a year forward if we could kick to him properly
  10. Still has to identify and pick the players. We have had a lot of draft picks from 2007, pretty much failed on most of them until Taylor joined us Lets change our draft choices only top 25 picks for 2007,08,09 players that should be peaking now, we have none on our list only 2 still in AFL system but not for much longer 2007 Morton-Dangerfield Grimes-Rance Maric- Scott Selwood 2008 Watts-Nic Nat Blease-Shuey Strauss- Hannebery 2009 Scully-Martin Trengove-Brad Sheppard Gysberts-Lewis Jetta Tapscott-Fyfe Add in our first round picks from 2010 Lucas Cook, 2012 Jimmy Toumpas, please giving first round 2011 pick for Mitch Clark, we couldn't stuff up a 6 years of picks and trading any more. What a midfield group Nic Nat, Danger, Martin, Shuey, Fyfe, Hannebary, Selwood Instead we got nothing to show for this period, Jason Taylor is like a Ferrari compared to our recruitment team through this period. That is the reason we are in the position we are now
  11. Depends on the fitness of Hibberd, if fit he comes in for Jetta. Bennell for ANB but that won't happen more likely Sparrow for ANB or ANB will stay in. Sparrow as it gives us a midfield option that isn't AVB or Melksham and Sparrow is OK as resting mid up forward. Bennell doubt they would consider him
  12. No point targeting key forwards until we can get the players that can deliver the ball. We could have Tony Lockett in our forward line and he would struggle
  13. Seen enough from Rivers, Jackson and Pickett to think we have 3 serious players add in Langdon we have had a pretty good draft trade period in 2019
  14. Turned anb shot on goal, we from there started turning the ball over, short handballs
  15. I thought that is was what Demonland was a group of supporters catching up to talk about football. I just assumed everyone above 18yo like me drinks 6 to 10 beers when watching to dees. What was the pub that put on drinks when we won. There has been 2 one down at south wharf and the one in the city
  16. What was the stat last night the WCE have made the finals 26 out of 34 seasons since they entered the competition and I think Geelong is next on the list 23 times over the same period. We had a good run of finals from 87-2006, but 1 appearance since then is pretty hard to take. Pretty similar from 65-86 don't think we made the finals through that period.
  17. I think so, we need to see what he offers, essentially he is our midfield depth. If Preuss isn't going to ruck 30% of the time not sure why you would play him, the question is will Brown or Tmac offer more. My side Hibbard May Lever Rivers Tomlinson Salem Langdon Oliver Sparrow Bennell TMac Fritsch Pickett Weiderman Melksham Gawn Petracca Viney Smith AVB Bedford Baker Out Hunt, Pruess, ANB IN Tmac, Bennell, Sparrow
  18. Ruthless is a pure mind set, starts with a lot of hard work be ruthless on the expectations at training, then that flows into how you play the execution of your game plan with no exceptions, then finishing off a team you have on the ropes. If the players bring this and we still offer up poor performances, club needs to be ruthless in addressing the reasons why such as Coach, Footy manager what ever it takes to improve. As soon as you accept excuses for not performing to the level required your club goes backwards. You accept circumstances that may effect the result but not the level of effort or execution of game plan like all good clubs a player comes in and knows the role they need to play
  19. The other interesting thing from last night was we tried to get him, offered $5000 cash as signing bonus another sliding door moment for the club.
  20. Clean players that can kick and a ruck that hits the ball to dangerous spots, that was the difference
  21. Tim Kelly the one man midfield for wce it unbelievable by foot and clean, this is type of player we need
  22. Why wouldn't you pack up the family and move down to Barwon Heads, Torquay. Great life style, great for a young family. That is what it will come down for Jack, what is best call for his family.
  23. The game evolved since we formulated our current plan. Teams that have the ability to control the football and tempo of the game are the good sides. We haven't recruited players for this, we are all about winning the ball at the contest and surge it forward, more like the Dogs game style when then won the flag. Clubs still us this through out games but also lock at keeping the footy once they have it, looking sideways, switching play, it isn't about the out number at the contest anymore they almost play a tradition 6/6/6 and are happy for sides to push a forward into the middle that creates an out number down back. We can't hit targets enough to play the style we want. We can't allow an out number in our forward line. Our back 6 are strong back them to win the contest, don't play a loose defender unless our opponent plays a 4-5 man forward line. If they do, we just sit back and attack of half back with over lap like teams do against us. Forward 6 play up to a line ahead of the example HFF/CHF push to HBF/CHB, full forward line push up to half forward don't get any higher unless to are presenting for the ball. We get beaten when we push our half forwards to the midfield contest and allow our opposition 1-2 spare players that just sit back and wait for long bomb/turnover kick. We work so hard to win the footy at the contest, when it turns over in our forward 50m we just can't defend the lose defender and the fast switch. If we can't keep to ball inside 50m for longer to allow our mids/defenders to set up the quick exit will always kill us. By pushing the out number to the contest it always looks congested and our players always gravitate to the ball and not hold for the the fast break, this is why we continue to have the 1m handballing, we don't have a player holding outside for the 2-5m handball release. The other big issue we don't have anyone running for a handball receive, that is either lack of confidence in the teams ability not to turn the ball over, defenders don't want to run off for their opponent to get the easy out the back from a turnover and also which was evident V fremantle we didn't dish it of, just simple no risk footy down the line. Starting point would be hold our forward 6, don't push HFF into the midfield, back mids and backs to win the footy and have players in place to try and keep the ball inside our forward 50m arc for longer periods. It the ball keeps pinging out of there at the current speed we have no chance to set defensive structure.
  24. Then who
  25. This is pretty depressing to read, we dont really have any midfield depth at all and banking on a first year player to hold down chf and a bloke that has played a handful of games and can't get his body right as either key forward or back
