  1. If we clean up our decision making, disposal & forward line structure we most likely would have won that game. Forward 50 entries is what Roos must focus on as well as forward 50 pressure. We are getting enough of the ball I50 based on last night, but to only have 1 mark inside 50 in the first half tells a sorry tale for how effective we were going forward I50.
  2. I found this segment from the article interesting: No stand-out traits: Although Neal-Bullen is sound in all facets of the game and he has no glaring weaknesses, he also has no outstanding strengths to his game that will put him a level above in the AFL. His clearance work comes close, but as a smaller player it is unlikely hell retain the same dominance at the contest in the AFL. It's possible that whilst ANB was a steady performer this year other clubs perhaps didn't see lots of upside or scope for improvement on what he is already producing? Let's hope that he continues to develop & that his fitness is one particular area which he can use to his advantage at AFL level. We don't have too many gut running mids & he could definitely add something to our side from that perspective. Edit: spelling
  3. How are ya GTB? Well the Scorpions name was from the previous Springvale football club. In my opinion they should do whatever it takes to make it work in the area. If that means a re-branding to Casey Demons so be it. However I don't think the naming is the real issue. Local competitions would be a good idea. I know that when I was a junior we had similar lightning premiership Under 9's but it was through the DDJFL (Dandenong Districts Junior Football League). Casey could endeavour to do the same on the grounds they have available at Casey Fields if available. I think a large issue is that Casey is standing alone & apart from the junior clubs. Once a youth prospect gets to around 18 they would be just as likely to leave their junior club & to try out with say Box Hill, Frankston or Sandringham as they would with Casey. I think they should pay some close attention to this & make it evident that there is a pathway to develop through playing at Casey & that they have just as good prospects there than anywhere else. Perhaps this is something both Casey & Melbourne could put some money into. An important thing to remember is there are so many kids in the area. I know through a friend that takes their kid to Auskick that they didn't bother taking their kid to Casey fields for Auskick as there was something like 400 kids participating & it was too over crowded. Too many kids participate & it effected how their own child participated in Auskick. They had to take their child to Narre Warren where there were less numbers. There are another 3 Auskick clinics in Cranbourne so I guess you can get an idea of the growth in the area & why it is in my opinion really important for Casey & the MFC to work on this relationship. We have a small supporter base in numbers & we will only improve this by doing similar to what Hawthorn did in the 80's - 90's. They built relationships in the Sth East & focused in on the growth areas & winning flags helped a lot of course. I think for the alignment to work, Casey & MFC need to be likeable. I know that sounds simplistic but that is the reality of it. The club has been spending a lot of time in the local schools, perhaps they need to start looking at doing the same at the local footy clubs. They have to continue building relationships with all stakeholders, actively participate in the community, schools, local footy & start to play some football that people want to watch.
  4. Sorry Jack but that is a bad idea. Changing the name to cranbourne or associating with only cranbourne will cause them to lose following from other areas. There are many strong junior & senior clubs in the area including narre warren, berwick, hallam, hampton park, endeavour hills, lynbrook etc etc. The problem is that all areas associate with their own local teams & not so much with Casey. Perhaps the scorpions need to have a bigger presence at the local clubs & start using these local clubs as a feeder system. I don't think there is a problem with the overall structure but more the way they interact with the local community. Another issue is that springvale folded & became casey. Casey is not the local football team. As you know before that we had the dandenong redlegs who folded. I think you will find most locals would identify more with the redlegs than casey or springvale. Perhaps they should rebrand themselves as the redlegs or merge with the dandenong stingrays as this is where all the local talent ends up playing their junior footy. There is a disconnect between junior footy & casey. I think aligning themselves with the stingrays would be a good idea & create a closer bond with junior footy.
  5. They both played at the stingrays but I wouldn't regard either as dandy boys, just saying. Mt.eliza & Seaford is a bit of travel to Dandy.
  6. Interesting that Kane Lucas got picked up by WCE.
  7. I believe the new recruits will begin training today mate.
  8. Very happy to have this young fella at the club. If he works very hard,is looked after & developed properly by the club, the sky is the limit for him. I'd say he could play a few good games on a half forward flank for us next year & hopefully push into the midfield later on if he starts to develop his aerobic fitness.
  9. I'll be interested to see how Gore's career turns out at Geelong. A few demonlanders were pushing his name I believe at our later picks?
  10. RIP Phil Hughes Phil was struck in the neck by a bouncer. The ball struck an artery on his spine leading to his brain. The artery split & caused major bleeding into the brain. Unfortunately they were not able to bring him back to consciousness & he passed away this afternoon 48 hours after the initial injury. This is tragic & terribly sad news for his family, friends & cricket australia family. A good & very talented young man gone far too soon.
  11. It works, the main thing that helps with dropping weight is cutting out the processed foods which slow your digestive system & cutting out sugar & processed wheat/complex carbs. They say these foods are not good for the body & can be hard for the digestive system to break down. As long as they are keeping protein in their diet they will maintain their muscle mass & lose fat.
  12. I don't believe that Lever can be considered a similar player to Morton or Watts. Lever is an underage boxing prodigy & I'd expect him to be just as hard at it as someone like Luke Hodge or our own Neville Jetta, who also has experience in Boxing. Morton & Watts are very timid & there is no evidence to suggest that Lever will play anything like that. If anything Lever will be the opposite.
  13. I'm pretty sure Harmes isn't among that list.
  14. It was mentioned on channel 7 news that some of the players were training today & that Jake Batchelor was among the group. Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't believe he has been delisted by Richmond.
  15. I believe its a matter of having enough money to attract senior level VFL players. Like KC said, there isn't much down there at the moment & they lost players last season also. Young players were drafted in to replace the players that left & it didn't work out, which is understandable. Has anyone heard if this situation is being rectified or will it be more of the same for this upcoming season?
  16. To anyone that has seen Lever play, what is his contested ball wining ability like at ground level? Also does he have clean hands & composure in congested areas? He is obviously extremely talented, can take a contested mark & provide run & carry. From what I can tell the doubts or knocks are his kicking & ability to run through the midfield due to not playing there & his knee injury. Is he the type of player that Hawthorn or Geelong would take? They seem to have a pre-requisite for clean handling & efficient ball use under pressure & I'm wondering if Lever is that type of player?
  17. Jay Clark broke the Trengove news on Friday. I'm not saying he is the best source, but it's possible he does know something.
  18. Surely there is more to the deal than what is being proposed.
  19. It was mentioned on fox sports news last night that Cameron was spotted in Adelaide yesterday. Cameron denied it saying he was playing golf in Sydney. Did anyone else hear this rumour?
  20. I would be extremely disappointed if the club offered a second rounder for a 30year old with 2 years left in him who can leave for nothing. The compensation to sydney via free agency wouldnt be great. I'd assume he's worth no more than a 3rd or 4th rounder. Sydney are only offering a 1 year contract from what I have heard so he can't be that valuable to them All Australian or not.
  21. As previous posters have said. It's most likely Frawley was given an offer in January to consider by Hawthorn possibly even earlier, much like franklin when he left the Hawks. The statements issued by clubs & players to the media are all lies & propaganda to appease the masses & play the game of posturing for position, when in reality chip has most likely been gone for 9 months in his heart & mind. I've heard lots of rumours, some saying that he didn't even look at our offer to now Chip being upset that we had moved on. From a MFC loyalist perspective I'm sure privately Roos had moved on early in the year which is part of the reason why we played chip in the forwardline. If Chip had his heart still at melbourne he would be a valuable member of the team, as it stands he doesn't & getting pick 3 for him serves us better as we can use it to rebuild the midfield. No hard feelings as we should get good compensation for a bloke who didn't want to be here most of the year.
  22. For some strange reason I started following the dees during this great mans last game. On the same day today I've had to say farewell to a lifetime friend & my best mates dad. Sometimes there aren't enough words. Rest in peace Gaz & Robbie.
  23. Agreed, also Bomber is a terrible liar. He's off to the Gold Coast. He was clearly uncomfortable answering the question.
  24. The swans shat themselves & couldn't handle the persistent pressure. Hawthorns attack on the player & at the ball was the difference. That's how they were able to open sydney up with their skills, the war was won on the inside & hawthorn could then control the game. Once hawthorn had control of the inside game the swans had no answer. The result may have been closer if there was more wind but it wouldn't have changed the fact that hawthorn had 22 contributors throughout the whole game who were willing to play their role & the swans only had 5-7.
