  1. Had a quick look over their website. They released a record company profit or around 70mil this year & a record turnover also.
  2. From there website it appears they offer vehicle servicing. Perhaps they will be looking to gain exposure is this area, as well as their car financing for everyday consumers? Just a guess.
  3. Point Gaurd for Australia under 18's I believe?
  4. Yes Tyson mentioned he has spoken to Misson already in his interview on the MFC site. May do some initial sessions to see where he is at with his knee, but overall he is ready for a full preseason. He played the last two games of the season for GWS.
  5. Kennedy is a top 20 player in the comp & would be a steal for pick 9 & Howe.
  6. Channel 10 didn't say anything about the PSD just that he would be signing up with Melbourne subject to a medical next week.
  7. Channel 10 saying it's a done deal subject to a medical next week
  8. If he can get back to his best form of 09 we will have an elite midfielder. On the other hand if he continues his current form of the last 2-3 seasons we have at the very least a midfielder capable of complimenting Nate Jones & will give us an extra 20 possessions per game. Either way its a win IMO.
  9. 94 & 112 are also still in play if the club want to upgrade Clisby or make a trade like the Rodan trade last year.
  10. From the MFC website: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-10-18/vince-flys-from-crows-to-dees
  11. Bernie Vince apparently may be on the move to the Dees. Adelaide's Bernie Vince meets with Demons
  12. Again I will disagree with you. A club can collapse when a manager is sacked or retires you only have to look at the fortunes of Liverpool in the last 25 odd years. The fortunes of a premier league club or European Football club are tied to the performance of the manager which is why so many are sacked. I will add that Sir Alex Ferguson said one of his most important skills was the ability to learn how to delegate. The selection of all his staff was on his watch, not from a president or CEO as you suggest they just carried out the recommendations that he made to them. The sports are different, but to suggest the role of football manager is an unimportant role is pretty naive. I believe David Parkin's pillars of football are the players, coach, football dept manager, CEO & Board. If you have one missing link then the club can't expect to have any success.
  13. Pfft, managers in European Soccer run the whole football side of the business, hence why they are called managers. They aren't just the head coach, they are responsible for overseeing everything that happens at their club from a physical performance perspective including players, scouts, recruiting, coaches, gameday, training. Considering you've followed Everton for over 50 years you haven't learnt much.
  14. Who brings the people together to select the players & the team involved to develope them? The players don't select themselves nor do the coaching staff. In Australian sport a lot is made of the position of coach. However in European football the biggest position is the manager. How do you think clubs like Man Utd, Liverpool, Celtic etc have become so large? Because they had iconic managers that did all the things that you find insignifican exceptionally well to create eras of dominance.
  15. Without the administrators setting standards & direction, coaches have little chance of succeeding. The club needs a good President, Board, Admin & staff to succeed. The reason we are in the current on field position we are in is because we never appointed someone such as Walsh to oversee the direction of the FD. For the last 6 years the club rebuilt on the failed CS blueprint. Whilst the GMFO will never kick a ball, he will manage the Footy Department & allow the coaches & players to do what they are employed to do more efficiently & effectively. The position is probably the most important in terms of the future of the FD.
  16. Agree with all of the above. I believe Lyon wasn't that happy about a diminished role in list management after Pelchen had arrived also.
  17. http://m.watoday.com.au/afl/afl-news/lyon-fends-off-criticism-of-new-role-20110916-1kd9v.html Taken from the article: "Lyon said he was in the business of trying to win premierships but would not comment on reports that he would become the AFL's highest paid coach and earn up to $1.5 million per year at Fremantle." Why would he leave the Saints, burn his manager & players just to earn the same amount he was on at the Saints ?
  18. I agree McQueen, where there's smoke there's fire. This story has been going round for almost 5 months now. If he's not interested in the job why does the speculation continue? My take is that he is interested but only if the conditions suit him & that includes the AFL assistance package as well as the board & FD. Until all these issues are sorted I think the speculation will continue. He may not coach us but there has definitely been some level of negotiations held.
  19. For the most part the effort has been there. Some of our players being overwhelmed with the physical side of Geelongs game, too many strong bodies in midfield. Also Craig allowed the Cats to sit a player behind the ball for the most part of the first half making it very difficult to move the ball forward in these conditions. Our defense is holding up relatively well. We have one two many Talls up forward making it hard to compete at ground level & lock the ball inside forward 50 as well as compete through the midfield. As one poster noted Fitzy will most likely be subbed as he is ineffective at the moment due to the conditions.
  20. Well if we were playing well I'm pretty sure the club could have absorbed the 500k hit. We've had moderate profits over the last couple of seasons.
  21. It was in the media recently. Under Schwab we increased FD spending. It is only because of our on field performance this year we are in a hole again, things were tracking well financially until this season.
  22. We are spending the same as Hawthorn, I believe around 17mil.
  23. Yarran was touted as a match winning forward who could run through the midfield when he was drafted. Instead of using pick 6 in his draft to trade O'keefe they used it on Yarran. There's no doubt he is the most talented out of himself , Betts & Garlett. If Carlton is willing to do a trade, I think the club should look at it & if the deal suits both parties the new FD should back itself in to develope Yarran into the A-grader many thought he'd become. If Yarran was at Geelong for example he'd probably be just as good if not better than Stokes because of how they develope players.
