  1. We traded picks No.2, No.20 and No.72, receiving Tyson and picks No.9 and No.53.That was on the proviso that we knew Salem would be available at 9 anyway. So in this instance GC must be confident who they want would be available still at No.6 & they would also have to provide us a pick in the region of pick 20 for Howe.
  2. The rumour is that GC will give us pick 3 & steak knives(perhaps the Bennell pick) for Howe & pick 6. We then on trade the pick to Collonwood for Kennedy or the like hypothetically.
  3. He was drafted at pick 19, since that time his value has dropped. Currently he can't get a game. I'd say at best he's worth a mid 2nd round pick to 3rd round. It's subjective of course. Is he still contracted?
  4. It isn't official yet. The speculation is based on what Mahoney & Dodoro discussed via the media, that the trade would involve a second round pick. It may be that we are asking for a pick as well as Melksham etc.
  5. Gubby Allen is a well known arrogant [censored].
  6. Surely if the MFC are considering rearranging pick 6 & 3 we would get back another pick for trading Howe & the exchange of pick 3 & 6 would be to sweeten the deal. If it was Howe & pick 6 for pick 3 as speculated the MFC is bending itself over IMO.
  7. I had a good mate pass away a couple of years back. He was only around 40 years old. His wife/widow has now moved on also, they had no marital problems & a young family. I think it is only natural for Sam to move on & to help her kids have another father influence around them. Not sure whether you need to speculate on the Stynes marriage, but if she is putting it out there in the public then I guess she has made it fair game.
  8. Agree with this, we drafted in Vince for pick 20 odd, but we also drafted in Dawes for around the same. I think the Dons win this deal if its true.
  9. Trade Radio reporting that Melksham will be a done deal for our second round pick (hope we are getting something else in this deal). Also reporting that Ben Kennedy to the Dees will be a done deal, not mentioning any picks etc.
  10. Earlier in the day they mentioned that Howe was a free agent so they obviously are very knowledgeable & across every detail!
  11. International Scouting & recruiting uses a lot of resources both monetary & personel. We simply don't have those at the moment in my opinion. The Irish experiment which resulted in recruiting Wight & Stynes was bank rolled by Rupert Murdoch & overseen by Ron Barassi. They are two assets that aren't around the club anymore. We'd need significant increases in revenue to get involved again in international recruiting.
  12. It was reported on channel 7 sport news that Howe also met this week with Roos coach Brad Scott. Not sure of the validity of the report.
  13. Work ethic, concentration, discipline & execution are also other negatives in his game. He is undoubtedly talented, but talent isn't all that counts.
  14. There's nothing stopping anyone from the club scheduling a meeting with Howe & his manager to get around that. Bit of B/S by Roos if what you are saying is true. Roos has played games through the media before so he is probably just doing the same in this instance.
  15. I would say you are right about the interested teams. Gold Coast & Collingwood have both held meetings with Howe & he was rumoured to have held discussions with a team that finished their season last weekend which could be West Coast or Hawthorn, I'd say it would be the Hawks. Dermott Brereton made a comment this week that if Howe moved to a finals side they would reprogram him by playing him in the reserves for 6-8 weeks & then he'd be ready to go in a higher placed team. I found it interesting that he had an opinion like that about Howe. It possibly shows that Hawthorn have put some work into him already. Hawthorn may think that they would have a role for him, I believe Howe is good friends with Frawley so there are a few links. GCS are hypothetically the better team to trade with if they can send a player we want our way. I'm not sure Hawthorn or Collingwood will give us value for what we are giving them in terms of a player we would want.
  16. Prestia's injury is a meniscus injury I've read. Whilst I'm not an expert, most meniscus injuries result in a full recovery. That's on the proviso that there has been no sever cartilage damage. O'Meara's injury sounds a lot more nasty. The tendinitis is one thing to get over(maybe his rest during injury has helped) but a snapped patella tendon may effect his explosiveness in the future you would think. The injuries to both players could be seen as a bargaining point from our perspective & may help us pay a lower price. There are no guarantees that any player will get over a serious injury so the club should weigh this up when they are making an offer to the Suns. It sounds like O'Meara is staying anyway but if there was actual negotiations then there is no way we should offer up the same price for O'Meara like he was fully fit. In saying all this the risk you are taking with the injury is measurable against the risk you take with someone like Harley Bennell. Sometimes the risk may be worth taking for a known quantity versus a gamble in the draft unless you were to draft an inside mid who usually develop. It was rumoured during the year that O'Meara was looking to move to Melbourne for a career move, maybe there is a slight chance we are looking at him as well as Prestia.
  17. His manager was on trade radio. Commented that Dixon only wants to go to Port & that he doesn't want to be traded to any other club. The reason he wants to be at Port is Ken Hinkley.
  18. Seeing as Dixon is being mentioned among other trade targets thought I'd bump this thread. What would a potential deal look like? Exchange of picks, players etc? Perhaps we can package Howe in this deal with pick 6 in return for Dixon & a 3rd Round pick to get it over the line.
  19. If you look at Hawthorn's line up on GF day as a template they have Roughead, Schoenmakers, Hale & Gunston as tall forward options rotating through various positions in the forward line throughout a game. We currently have Hogan & Dawes. We need a player who can replace Dawes as he is not at the adequate standard to provide something going forward, we also need a forward ruck option. We currently have Howe & Watts as forward options however I think the club would happily trade either of those two if it could net us a more reliable marking & scoring option/s. We really only have Hogan & potentially Frost that are of the adequate standard to take us up the ladder, trading in at least another tall with efficient skills & marking ability is essential for us to challenge for finals. Hogan won't be able to do it alone, even the best forwards need a sidekick. Just look at Dermie & Dunstall or Brown, Brayshaw & Lynch or last Saturday's game of Roughead, Schoenmakers, Gunston & Hale if you need convincing.
  20. He probably has more value on our list for another year as backup than getting a 4th rounder. Unless we could nab another Jeff Garlett with that type of pick.
  21. Sydney & Fremantle are both interested according to the Hun. Surely we could offer up a better trade than those clubs. It's whether he'd want to come here or not? Will Hawthorn want to trade him? I'd think his worth is a mid second round pick. He hasn't proven much but had a decent finals series. What sort of trade do you see the Hawks accepting?
  22. From memory of the game he wasn't on the end of much good work he was more a bailout option down the line. He took some strong grabs & contested hard. He is also a decent set shot. His finals series were quite good & he played his role. As a backman he looks ordinary but down forward he seems more at home.
  23. Paul Conners name is quite prevalent in that summary. Is there something more to it? Or does he just have a large stable? Connors strikes me as a bit of used car sales man or real estate agent type.
  24. Some people on Facebook that also saw the segment are saying it was reported Essendon & Freo are interested in Dawes. Not sure on that as I didn't hear it myself.
