  1. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this. It was reported on channel 7 news that we are looking to trade Chris Dawes & that Toumpas has requested a trade back to SA.
  2. If he was an unrestricted free agent that would be the case. Because he is a "restricted free agent" & Geelong have matched the contract offer the destination club & Adelaide need to agree to an adequate compensation price.I'm not sure if Adelaide would be able to match our contract offer though & what the rules are there. It may throw a spanner in the works for Adelaide? I don't see why just because Adelaide have matched the Geelong offer that they are able to just deal in a normal trade scenario with all clubs. If he's a free agent & there are other contract offers that are higher surely all contract offers need to be reviewed before any trade takes place?
  3. Exactly & they are probably quite happy to have him hooking himself round as he is one of the only players on our list who has trade value to other clubs but is expendable in terms of impact on our list.
  4. From what Roos has spoke of the club haven't officially put any contract to him as it was Howe's decision to test the market first.
  5. I doubt Prestia would be the only player targeted when Bennell, Gorringe, O'Meara & Dixon are supposed to be leaving the Suns. It may be that Gold Coast are willing to move other players on & the same could be said for Port Adelaide if they are serious about acquiring Dixon. Roos has been forward in letting everyone know we want to improve our list, I presume we would try & get involved in facilitating as many trades as possible to change our list.
  6. So we effectively give up pick 7 for Bennel & GC give us 24 for Howe. Seems fair on the face of it but I don't know if GC can demand such a high price for a guy that has off field issues. Perhaps we'd be over paying on that deal at the moment?
  7. Slobbo asked Roos directly whether Watts would be at Melbourne next year & whether he would be traded. Roos basically didn't deny it but went around the question by saying that we need to improve the list & all players are traceable. He says this has always been his approach to list building from his time at Sydney to now.
  8. They're conceding easy opportunities in transition from attack to defence. The crows have had too much space to run into behind the Dogs defence. The Crows seem pretty happy to sit players behind the ball & hit the Dogs on the counter attack.
  9. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-trade-period-2015-jake-melksham-to-be-either-at-essendon-or-melbourne-in-2016-20150912-gjl0ka.html From the article it says that a contract hasn't been put on the table by the MFC but that Goodwin is interested. Hopefully if this goes further it is not for anything more than a 3rd or 4th rounder. Judging by our trading in the last few years we wouldn't give too much up for him(fingers crossed we wouldn't). Essendon have a history of being more than awkward to deal with at the trade table. It may be likely that the price we want to pay & what Essendon expect are a fair way apart. All speculative of course.
  10. 4 on the match committee give the votes. Not sure how the votes are allocated & how many they allocate etc.
  11. I disagree with this on a couple of points. I think Roos sees Howe for what he is, talented but inconsistent & error prone. You say Roos shows loyalty towards all players, Roos is an expert at showing external parties what he wants them to see. It's obvious that as a club we were prepared to let Frawley & Howe leave if it helps build our list. Roos sees most players in that light hence why almost all of our players are tradeable. In terms of the salary cap I'd say we'd have close to a million to throw at Dangerfield for example so we can't be that tight with the salary cap.
  12. Would allow Gawn to play resting Ruck forward which would be a tough match up for any team. With the new interchange rules coming into place having two capable ruckman on the ground who can both play forward will be a big advantage. Whilst his injury record is poor its not a big gamble as he will come at no cost in terms of draft picks. Hopefully we can also bring in a free agent midfielder.
  13. Garry Lyon has been very confident all year that Prestia will be playing in Melbourne next year. You would think he has some inside info about it. It wouldn't surprise me if we have used Watts as trade bait as part of a deal for Prestia & perhaps even in enquiries about Bennell. In a dream trade we could offer Watts, Howe & our first rounder for Bennell & Prestia or something similar. Regarding the Facebook rumour, judging by the source I see no reason for her to lie about it being the daughter of a well known Demon personality. I don't agree with her telling the world about it though. Like another poster said maybe naive & probably stupid.
  14. This is also the issue for me. I realise there has been improvement this year & in general I would say we are tracking in the right direction. Currently the playing group seem to switch off before & during games. The performances have been like a yo-yo all season. The mentality of the playing group & process of becoming winners is just as big an issue as the poor kicking skills & speed of the list. Supporters shouldn't have to accept being belted 8 goals to 1 in the first quarter to a bottom of the ladder team. If the club don't like the negativity of the supporters when we put the heat on them they need to harden up. Ultimately we will always be the stakeholders of the club & they are accountable to us, not themselves. In my opinion one of our biggest failings as a supporter base isn't that we are negative its that we have been to accepting of the [censored] dished up to us by the people in charge of the club. Maybe the wheel is finally turning & supporters have had enough, about time I say. It's time to raise the standards & expectations of what we accept as a supporter base. If the club keep dishing up crap like they have in the last few weeks what more can they expect from loyal fans who are invested in the club but anger?
  15. At least 7 goals against were from turnovers. Viv Michies having a crack, must be the only bloke with something to play for. The rest of them are collecting a pay cheque but have already clocked off according to Roos. Get some players in that actually give a [censored] about the club & have some pride in their performance. This is a disgrace.
  16. There was one occasion where he turned back into trouble & ducked his head so the free kick wasn't paid. There was also another occasion where he was running sideways inside the centre square, took too long to get rid of it & ducked into the incoming tackle from the side. The umpiring in general & rules make the game hard to tolerate, they need to simplify it & go back to the basics of footy, it's really not that complicated. Regarding keeping Grimes on the list I'm currently torn. He was a Melbourne supporter growing up & he has invested heavily into the club & has put the club first. On the other hand he may have some trade value & help us build our list, I'm not sure how much value he'd have, but he played some good footy early in his career which other clubs may remember. Time will tell I guess.
  17. From my observations Grimes got caught with the ball regularly (at least 5 times). He lacks awareness or was having an off day. He did make some contributions defensively, but like I said he got caught too often. In the first quarter he also turned the ball over a couple of times. I like Grimes, he seems like a good bloke, a good professional & great club man. I hope he can succeed in footy for his own sake but I'm beginning to wonder if he is too limited at the top level. Hope I'm wrong.
  18. I don't know whether it's lack of speed, endurance, effort, too many talls or most likely all of them. But at times this year we have ran out of legs in games(the GWS, Adelaide, Saints, Port & WC game come to mind). It's a major concern that we just seem to stop in games. If we bring intent & effort with a determined positive mindset in to games it seems like we are able to compete with most teams. Its getting that on a consistent basis that is lacking, which is very frustrating. I'd like to see the club address the fitness levels as well as athleticism of the list in general. We definitely need some quicker types through the midfield to become a more dynamic & higher scoring team.
  19. Our delivery inside 50 is not AFL standard. I don't blame Hogan if he has bad attitude, if I was a forward having to deal with that [censored] delivery every week I'd be disinterested too. Forward structures & our poor use of the ball are costing us games.
  20. The radar is looking pretty evil at the moment. It looks like it the main band of weather will get to the MCG around 1pm.
  21. Petracca & Trengove are both LTI's, surely the rule would be we can upgrade more than one rookie?
  22. In comparison to our performance against Geelong we weren't winning hit outs or stoppages which was a big factor in our last win. We also struggled to maintain any semblance of forward pressure for the whole game. Yes the Eagles skills were better than ours but it didn't help that they were streaming through the middle of the ground loose because we didn't have enough runners. Losing Brayshaw was a killer, I think with the selection of talls it was always going to be hard to go with them for the full 120 minutes. Hopefully we get H back next week, debut Harmes & drop Bail & Jones.
  23. Anyone know if you can listen to the game via online radio?
