    Jamar

Why would we give up a player (Jamar) and 2nd round pick for a player who is in and out of a side that cant even make the 8? Fair enough Boak & Salopek have talent. But going on last years draft Geelong only received a 3rd round pick for Prismall, I think this would be a fairer deal. We should only trade when the deal suits us not the other way around. If Boak or Salopek are out of contract at the end of this year then we hold the aces, if not its a no deal for me.
  2. Casey Fields Athletics Track Casey/MFC agreement and related articles including plans The second link you will find a link at the bottom of the page to view the preliminary plans for our new facility at Casey. There may be other articles on the Casey website you wish to browse through also.
  3. I'de delist or trade Miller & Bartram, they add nothing while they have possession of the ball and skills and footy smarts is the area we are falling down predominantly. If we can get any sort of trade I'de be happy, if they go through to the Pre-Season draft so be it. Also does anyone think that Hawthorn would be interested in a trade for Jared Rivers and Paul Johnson for their 1st rnd pick and a later pick say rnd 4? Only reason I say this is Hawthorn are short a backman due to Croad being crocked and they have also lost faith in all of their ruckman. I would have thought they would be pretty interested in Rivers at least however Johnson is more doubtful. I'de also like to get opinions on the market value for Brock McLean at the moment, if he hasn't been injured this year I'de be very worried as his disposal has been terrible throughout. The other reason is we have two many slow mid-fielders at the moment. Having too many slow mids appears to be a liability the way AFL is played currently.
  4. In the first quarter I don't think there was much Chip could have done to stop Buddy, the ball was coming in that quick. Players like Scarlett etc would have struggled to contain him.
  5. Apart from the continuing pattern that we are continuously beaten with speed through the midfield (especially after clearances) I was pretty happy with the performance. We have no players in our midfield with explosive pace, it really hurt us early on when the Hawks were winning the clearances and spreading/running hard into space.
  6. Your missing the point, by being a loud mouth and acting like a tool in the media he has compromised his own principles and the clubs. I am seriously beginning to wonder about what Melbourne supporters believe is most important for the club. Grand standing and nit picking or the greater good of the club. Whether Coglin is a top bloke or not is totally irrelevant and what Stynes has said is irrelevant. Going to the press has brought the club into the gutter, something I think the club should be above. Taking a stance that is unified is most important, hopefully all parties can realise this.
  7. No it's not a joke. If you know anything about being part of a successful organization you know when to toe the party line. Jim's the leader of the club and Coglin is breeding disrespect towards him. There's quite a few reasons why Stynes would decline to discuss the matter, one of them being it would have been in a public forum when a private setting would have been more appropriate. I guess Coglin wouldn't know about decorum or appropriate behaviour. Even if what Jim Stynes said was wrong, Coglin has taken the remarks as a personal vendetta. If he loves the club he should retract his comments and discuss his differences with Stynes in a private setting instead of trying to divide the club.
  8. You don't get it do you, if he loved the club he wouldn't be airing dirty laundry to the whole world. These things should be dealt with in house. It makes the club look dis-functional at a time when the club has to be exactly the opposite. He has put his own agenda ahead of the clubs. There's a way to try and resolve all problems and if he wasn't happy with the response he got from Stynes during his one way conversation at the ground why didn't he try another form of correspondence the next day or in a manner that wasn't going to cause publicity? He wasn't forced to do anything in the media, if he was a humble man he would have accepted Jim's opinion and tried all ways to resolve or understand what Jim was trying to say and then resolve his issue with Stynes or the club in another way. We will never know the truth of what exactly happened when Coglin spoke to Stynes unless you were an eye witness, this is another reason it shouldn't have been spoken about in the media. It allows people to form ill informed negative opinions of people at the club. He has attempted to damage Stynes reputation through the media and in effect hurt the club and also in my opinion damaged his own image. It hasn't helped the club so why would you bother? My answer is because he's a selfish individual and not a team player.
  9. There was one interesting stat from yesterdays game against West Coast, Sylvia had four contested marks. An interesting stat in terms of todays uncontested footy.
  10. Up the escalators next to the Presidents Club, can't say I've had a beer at ground level in the Northern for a while.
  11. I've got reserved seating on level 1 olympic/northern stand, the alcohol free zone is news to me, was having a beer there the other day.
  12. I've read a lot of your posts, most of them are delusional whether that's deliberate or not I'm not too sure. This post would have to be one of your best. Keep it up.
  13. Great thread mate, I can definitely see the improvement in comparison to last year. I think some of the ball movement out of the backline by foot and hand was very good at times. The rebuild is taking place and there is a lot of improvement to come.
  14. I disagree that Essenscum are ahead of us at the moment. They have key players coming to the end of their careers that will need to be replaced. eg Fletcher, Lloyd, Lucas. IMO Lloyd was Essenscums best on Saturday night. They don't appear to have anyone earmarked to replace these players as there are doubts over Gumbleton and Rider. I guess I am questioning the quality of the rebuilding taking place. Our defense appears to be sorted and will develop more with the experience gained. The midfield is the biggest worry to me, we have players that are all one paced and similar types (inside ball winners) we need to recruit well in this area in this years draft. Tom Sculley would be one player we need and also another player who can gut run would be very handy. Perhaps we can trade one of our slow mids when the time is right to trade. In attack we will have Watts, Maric, Wonna, Miller (as a 3rd tall), Sylvia(or any other from say Petterd, Bate, Jurrah etc) and then there is the matter of a second key target to play alongside Watts from this years draft. So in summary with players from the last two years drafts not playing at the moment(Watts, Blease, Strauss, Grimes, Maric & Jurrah) and say 3 quick mids to add from this years draft along with a key tall and a ruckman I think the rebuild is really taking place. We could expect to see some real development and improvement this yearr and in the next year even more so. I would rather be in our position than say teams like Richmond, Sydney, Kangaroos and perhaps even Collingwood as I can't see there list developing to be premiership contenders.
  15. The deal with Hankook is worth 0.7 mil a yr or 2.1mil over 3yrs, the deal with Kaspersky is worth just under 1mil a year or 2.9-3mil over 3yrs. The combined sponsorship/joint sponsorship is said to be 5mil over 3years. Demons announce new sponsor
  16. Your funding breakdown is correct, MFC will pay 500k in a join venture with Casey and the VFL/Vic government if approved to upgrade the pavilion so it is an appropriate AFL training facility. The club will receive no asset in return however has been given the option of using the ground for up to 30 years. Obviously I don't have the legal contracts however this was all stated in the notes for the Casey Council meeting I think around August. This 500k may also be a payment in regards to a lease agreement, however I'm not sure so don't take my word. The agreement seems to have changed since that meeting I attended, however I haven't heard anything about the funding for the proposed works changing. The only changes I am aware of is the changes to the community program which hasn't been disclosed by the club or Casey Council yet.
  17. At the start of the summit Jim Stynes mentioned that the AFL had given approval for the MFC to wear red and blue as its away guernsey next year, that was one of the things i picked up on that i didnt already know before this morning.
  18. he looks pretty good in close and has good hands, bit suspect by foot. Im only going by this you tube clip. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXvvrWJyKpI strauss looks very good by foot, something MFC really needs at the moment is good foot skills IMO. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCfk8EHDDko&...feature=related
