  2. Yes. Can't go wrong really. Job's done.
  3. Lee Harvey? From the Book Depository building? That's a good endorsement.
  4. Lee will bounce back QueenC, you watch. After being beaten in just about every aspect of the second test, The Aussies will make sure they're ready to rumble in the 3rd Test after being humiliated. Yes!! Great start to the season....again. I did say that didn't I? I also said that it appears the "cupboard is bare" of quality spinners. They need someone to consistently bowl at one end, and dry up the runs, especially against the likes of India to increase pressure on the opposition. ie. Whether that is Beau Cassen, Krezja, Cullen or McGain - or someone we are yet to find, it remains to be seen. On Indian pitches, you need to turn the ball and take wickets much like Harbajan has in the series to date. IMO McGain is currently the best of these in terms of consistency. Effectively we agree on this 45hotgod. McGain is a quality turner IMO. He has shown enough of his weapons in both Sheffield Shield (Ie Pura Cup), and the one day format. He can turn the ball. I know what you're saying. But the selectors in the past have grabbed blokes in their late 30's, early 40's before and sometimes from obscurity for a series or two. Ie. Peter Taylor, Bob Holland, Greg Matthews (Mark II)- , Tim May. McGains 19 matches compares favourably to a Peter Taylor before National call-up. Whilst I'm not pinning my hopes on him, I would be more confident in giving him the ball at one end, to hold one end down for me, even take a wicket or two knowing that he can turn the ball.
  5. Good on you JP!!! Great story. Yes. it was unbelievable. I'll never ever forget when Todd Viney snapped truly for the first goal for Melbourne......the roar was something else...it was if the giant had awoken from its slumber.

Indeed. Absolutely wrapped to get Stef Martin last year. The Dees definitely kicked a goal there IMO.
  7. Its a good opinion QueenC . Mark Waugh did have a good point with regard to the 1st innings, it was poor on that wicket for the first day's play. The key is, and the Indians are aware of this, for Zaheer Khan said it prior to the commencement of the second test, that he believed the Aussies don't have the artillery to take 20 test wickets against India. Also, that India are confident against the current Australian attack. 20 Test wickets is required to win - that along with reasonably good batting. The hot air exchanged between Lee and Ponting is not good whichever way you look at it, regardless of how things are off-field for Lee. Having said that, I do feel for him. Might I add, I'm not in any way "solely blaming" Lee for the troubles that the Aussies now find themselves in. To do so would be insane and a little moronic, that is correct. All I stated was that he is "struggling", of which you agreed in your opening reply. It was always going to come with the retirement of legends of the game in McGrath and Warne. Arguably the best in their respective trades. Yes, good points once more, titan. With respect to a 'quality spinner', I would put to you Bryce McGain. He would of played had he not injured himself. He is quality, but his longevity in the game is minimal. Your question in relation to "youth and longevity" in the quality spinning department....well the cupboard is bare - you're quite right. It's rather an interesting problem we have considering Warne made so many people and kids so interested in the game of cricket. I would of thought new talent would of been coming through. The man was a freak with the ball. I wonder if we will ever see another quite like him. Our generation might of been blessed to watch such a cricketer apply his trade. Much like the generation that saw Bradman play.
  8. Cheers Bobby. Will certainly do.
  9. Eww I remember that one. So many key moments. The first and last quarters we were smashed. Especially the first quarter. That sickening collision did come at a crucial time. TJ disappointed me in the last quarter, because of a depleted line up we were struggling for numbers and TJ wanted to rest on the bench at a crucial time - after such a good game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. I was devastated after that game. Even though I thought the boys had a great year after 2001. I remember thinking Collingwood was the next opponent in the Prelim. Wasn't to be.

Ok...., so I take it Charlie Gardiner has got the flick then?
  11. That in itself is pure gold pantaloons. Who would of thought? Quite right Pantaloons, and as you say Gardiner would clearly not legitimately aid us in our premiership quest after being rejected by not 1 club, but two clubs. Why some 'people' are even contemplating Gardiner is bizarre, given their thoughts prior to trade week, demanding more picks and upgrading of picks. I would've thought they would rather fill our list via the national draft than have Charlie "freakin" Gardiner! What the Charlie Gardiner cheer squad?...No Goose. You should know that because it seems there is only two members...and you're one of them. I hope for your sake, you can interpret this quote of yours....because I can't decipher this for the life of me!
  12. Nothing wrong with load time at all. Yes I agree. I'm leaning to Schoenmakers for pick 17 ahead of Zaharkis at 19. You're quite right as "long as we got the best available mids with one of the pics." I'd be very happy, as we all should be if we land Watts and Schoenmakers. Nov 29 cannot come soon enough.
  13. I just had another deja vu.
  14. That's because RR was replying to Freak, you Goose.
  15. Crikey Charlie!! No thankyou!!
  16. May I add, "KEEP CLEAR - TOW AWAY ZONE"
  17. OBSERVATION: The Aussies whilst struggling with the bat in this test - has a problem or two with the bowling. It's easy to say the two problems are no Warne and no McGrath. But the problem is there is no quality spinner to hold down one end. That and the fact the Aussies aren't working at the ball in the field between balls, the Indians are. There is no reverse swing or swing at all. The indians are just picking them off at will. Brett Lee is struggling. First solution: - FFS Work on the ball alot more (one one side) - enable it for the quicks to get 'some' swing and uncertainty for the Indian batsman. Second solution: - Get a quality spinner into the line-up, drop White. Third: - Occupy the crease with the bat and FFS concentrate. Fourth: - Don't bowl too short too often. Fifth: - Siddle give that slower delivery the arse. They're just waiting for it.
  18. I don't think we're 2 years away from finals. I think we could expect a little more pain next year. Before seeing improvement in 2010. Should be clawing our way back up the ladder in 2011-12. 3-4 years IMO.
  19. Yes it was a positive statement and I would of liked to read Mike Tyler's response from City of Casey. He didn't return calls. Is he that busy? Or has a muzzle been put on him
  20. Smoke & Mirrors people, Smoke & Mirrors. But honestly, it would be very neglectful of the club if they didn't do all of their research which includes meeting them again.
  21. Settle down Nugget.. I said TBC (to be confirmed - if you want me to spell it out for you, in other words I'll get back to it..) So here it is after a little more research: - 1. Watts 17. Schoenmakers 19. Zaharkis 35. Redden 51. This pick is open slather, as a guess - would be used based on the clubs needs. Ie Ruckman? will be influenced at what we got at 17,19,35. PSD1 - Who is out of contract? Tom Lonergan? Marc Murphy? I would be very happy with the above four picks. Highly unlikely I know as 16 clubs are involved. But I think these four are around the mark at these numbers - but it wouldn't surprise me if Schoenmakers or Zaharkis went earlier than 17 and 19. But, we'll see. I would of had Blease in at 17, but I think he will go earlier to another club.
  22. Yes, lets cross promote the Grand Prix and the NM v Melb game. The players can drive in the celebrity race before the Grand Prix, Whilst Webber, Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen & Co. can toss the coin for the start of the AFL game, and officiate the game!
  23. Hypothetical Question: How would Sean Wight at his peak have gone playing on Buddy?
  24. Also, why is this a thread?
  25. 1987, Rd 22 Western Oval (then). Closely followed by Elimination Final v Nth Melb, 1987. Also, Semi Final v Sydney, 1987. Others: *Shaun Smith's Mark Of the Century, Gabba, 1995. *Allen Jackovich's 11 goals v Nth Melb, G, 1991. *G.Lyon's 10 goals v Bulldogs Semi-Final, 1994. *Farmer's and Woey's Goals on the run. *Demons smashing Carlton by over 100 points. (take note danny G) *Newton's mark of the year. * Dees beating Hawks in rd22 and Elimination Final, 1990. (2 weeks running) Dermie & Dunstall well held by Campbell & Rohde. edit: PS calabrese boy, that win over Carlton in 1994 was a Qualifying Final (2 v 7). Not elimination Final.
