That's insightful Dalrot. -
You have a difference of opinion to Wisbey's report on Hislop....

Probably because its another well used cliche used by many footballers, Nugget. edit: He's looking forward to putting all the surgery & rehabilitation behind him and playing footy. -
Prior to me being an MCC member, I never felt like a 2nd class citizen, I could imagine some would for whatever reason - maybe it's just the dress code, who knows? But because its a "club", there will always be an opinion like this from non-members.
-
Yes, I missed that one last night. An absolute sitter if ever there was one.
-
You can say that again. However there are more kids available in ABC Learning Centres (100,000+) than NQR's in the PSD.
-
Is that right? By all reports he is definitely not slow. And did the club really say that they preferred an "untried youngster ahead of a reject" or did you just dream that one up? IMO, Hislop is definitely an option, I'm sure the club will do their due diligence in the lead up to the PSD.
-
First of all, the "your" MCC member viewpoint of being a "wealthier supporter demographic" - is absolute 'cods wallop' ol' chum! I wish and certainly I wish for my MCC mates that we were silvertails with Range Rovers. That view we are not. Secondly, what email addresses of the club have you been using to send your emails to? Fwiw, I am an MCC and MFC member and have received replies to some, and not others. Persistence will get you there I have found. To say the club has a silvertail culture is nonsense. However, improving their communication to members and supporters remains an issue. 'Thirdly', the club is after a new demographic or an additional demographic, hence stepping foot in Casey in an attempt to 'plant a seed there and make it grow.' If the club and community get together and assist each other such as 45hotgods suggestion in raising funds for a local hospital, the move can be embraced and be a real positive for the football club in many aspects such as membership, finance, marketing opportunities and sponsorship.

I agree we are on the same page, as are nearly all the other posters. C'mon Bails, you know it is inevitable. (Bails reads these forums ). Why wait a year when Chook can take the reigns in '09. The club administration has had a new look change, we're in for a new sponsor, new summer training base, new look clash jumper, new ideas courtesy of the summit to come. May as well have a new look leadership group, and fresh new Captain! Go Demons! -
Correct. The indians wanted to unsettle him early, perhaps damage his confidence. 5/311 at stumps. Would of preferred perhaps Dhoni's wicket before stumps were drawn. Tomorrows first session is now critical if the Aussies were to make inroads for a win in this test. Tendulkar's wicket by Mitchell Johnson was a pearler, Billy Bowden made a good correct decision for lbw. It was taking middle, with height the only issue, but he got it right after all. Hawkeye supported his decision. Good on him. Good umpire. The wicket was very important in the scheme of things, Ponting however would of hoped Brett Lee hadn't dropped him earlier, but it was a tough chance for a catch, running back with the flight. Still, we have seen them take those chances before. Overall evenly poised it would seem, but India do have the runs on the board with 311. I'd put India in front at this stage. Early wickets tomorrow morning of Ganguly and Dhoni will ensure a swing of the pendulum Australia's way.

Narrow mindedness. Good post Rogue. Quite correct. Perhaps some narrow minded people want a big name such as Gary Ayres? Does Gary Ayres fit your criteria Rugolo?
-
Agree. In addition, CJ didn't want Mfc's 2 year offer, and wanted elsewhere. Well, he's made his own bed now. May pick 51 turn out to be a great acquisition for the team. On some threads with relevant links you will find 'experts' quoting the first two rounds to provide quality picks this year. Its been touted as running deeper this year than previous drafts all season, we've you been Eastie?
-
Gambhir out, that is a relief. Good to see Krejza playing. Happy with his selection. We need runs and more runs, and we need one or two bowlers to take a bag full of wickets. Fingers crossed.
-
Maybe those Viagra pushing posters of late on these forums could sponsor the club, no need to scare the older folk...
-
Its good to get other views on board, other opinions. You raise good points Golgothan. The more information that comes to hand I believe, the more those roadblocks become speed humps.
-
Good point about Brad Hogg. India's stance is ridiculously unbelievable. It's time the ICC made a stand. If Gambhir takes to the crease, Ponting should bring it to the umpires attention first. It the umpire decides to play on and let the ICC deal with it. The ICC needs to be strong here and make the correct decision for the games sake. India's stance is further eveidence of unsportsmanlike behaviour and is definitely not in the spirit of cricket. The decision was handed down by the match referee, they should abide by the rules of the game.

Your apology is accepted on posting a negative. I understand your thought process on being last to the ball alot in the last 2 years. However, the picture is not really indicative of last to the ball approach in the centre. Its about positioning themselves to the advantage in relation to the hit out. How do you know where the tap is going to melbman? That is if White even got the tap out in the contested ruck.
-
There is nothing wrong with changing your view Schtaker. Especially when the goal posts are shifted. Ie In this case THE FIXTURE, as you pointed out in that first sentence of yours also. Really was just making light of it. However, I don't agree with your assumption that you have no doubt that the AFL are willing and "happy for us to die." Based on the fixture.
-
May as well try something with Krejza. IMO they should play him. I understand it's a 50-50 too. But let's take a look at him.
-
Good concept Nugget. And as The Shaft said it is aesthetically pleasing on the eye.

Are you satisfied with Bailey at the moment?
H_T replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
So, Mo, did you cringe when ND tried to adopt the "run & carry" game plan towards the end of his tenure too? We didn't quite have the sort of players that could make it work under ND either. I cringed, when Daniher announced this. I knew our players were unaccustomed to the game style also. As season 2008 has also shown with the inexperienced and youthful side we have, it will take getting used to and much tweaking is still to be done with personnel in the team by Bailey & Co.. -
Appreciating your good work Nasher and to other admins and Moderators, you're all doing a great job. Hmm. Funny that. 4 months, 8 days. Another sledge my way perhaps deanox? Still finding the time to keep count are we? :D PS. If it is me, its 4 months , 9 days. 31 days in July. deanox, you seem to have your finger on the pulse of who's posted and who hasn't. Who posts more and who doesn't. (Is that really relevant anyway?) Are you studying to be a statistician or something at Uni? PS. Hope you did well in your exams. If you still have more to go, all the best.
-
Very surprising. Its is plain as the zinc on their faces for the Aussies. If they're to win, they must take 20 wickets. I can't see the Aussies winning based on their recent two tests. They definitely will not win if India make 500+ in their first innings.
-
I can bring that up Rogue if you are not invited? I agree with that. I received the email invitation from the club. Looking forward to this brainstorming session. Me. I too, understand your frustration. Have made a note of suggestions on this thread as well as my own views (which are shared by others... ie logo, clash jumper, communication, blueprint, etc) Any others feel free to express them, or email the club your concerns if you do not want them aired here at [email protected]
