Good suggestion. Next thing you'll be mixing it with Robbo & Sheahan.
I'd imagine, now that Amelia has covered this story in the HUN, will she be following up with the SUMMIT on Sunday at the 'G' for another article on Monday, Mick?
More positive publicity for the club will certainly help the club IMO. Re; Memberships, Sponsorship.
Yes the other names were halfback flankers (Buckley, Bell, Petterd & Grimes) , but IMO are candidates to form part of the back six.
Bell can play on different sized opponents and is flexible, even though sometimes considered NQR among some Melbourne supporters due to his awareness and peripheral vision in and out of traffic, of which I am one, who has criticised him on occassions.
Fair enough.
:D
There is still 3 weeks to go, they would still be finalising the No 1 pick..
All in good time, Goose. I would be very surprised and disappointed in the club if the 'select few' in the recruiting department would let their knowledge or 'decision" slip out to find its way to you 3 weeks before the ND.
Time will tell if you are right or woefully wrong.
Good on you Mick, good idea too.
edit: -
Having given more thought to it. Perhaps the "Melbourne" connection with the Melbourne City Council, would entice the Council to cover the cost of the memberships for new Australian Citizens, in support of the Mfc.
JIM STYNES OPEN TO IDEAS - DEMON SUMMIT
P.S. Jimmy Stynes has implored those that have ideas to send them in, he WILL read them. "I can guarantee that" - J.Stynes
Rivers, Garland, Frawley, Whelan, Martin, Warnock, Petterd, Grimes, Bell, Buckley - (10) are all candidates for the backline. Having now lost Carroll and CJ, you may have a case. However, if there is a better option than Dawson available in the PSD#1, we'll take it.
True. But what McGrath had was a better consistency of stump to stump bowling and not giving the batsmen much width. Often frustrating the Indians to produce rash shot selections and getting out. Often put in the odd good short ball, which Clark lacks.
Is a shame about Oram. He does well against the Aussies for the Kiwi's.
Good point actually about tying up other end for Krezja to take scalps. He just lacks variety on those pitches imo. I suppose most bowlers do though in india. Once back on Aussie soil, he should do much better.
Either that or he's had a good spell in the paddock, leaving nothing left on his plate.
But seriously, I agree with WJ haven't we already got enough defenders, and do we really need to pick up another defender who is NQR?
The boys wouldn't of trained much that week, surely. That certainly was ridiculous and a big oversight by the AFL. The players Assoc. would be up in arms today.
Ever seen the movie Sting with Paul Newman or Robert Redford? The right index finger to the nose.
There are also signals we use such as the signals in baseball with the Phillies. If you see three touches to the left shoulder and a right eye twitch, that means 45 hotgod needs to go and relieve himself...
Sorry 45hd...couldn't resist.
It may be a joke, but wouldn't you want to select a player that had no qualms about playing for Melbourne, in fact, someone who couldn't wait to get to Melbourne and don the Red & Blue? Rather than selecting someone who doesn't such as Cousins, Warnock or Judd.
India finally all out. Aussies off to a flyer, 13 runs from the over. Requiring 380 -odd off 90 overs tomorrow. Unlikey, but you never know. Krezja chimed in with 4/143. 12 wickets in his first test. Averaging about 30 with the ball. Better than most others.
Watson also ended up with 4 wickets. He was getting great reverse swing which was good to see.
Dhoni and Harbahjan took the game away from the Aussies in the last session with a 100 run partnership. Fingers Crossed for tomorrow. History says they can't do it. The pitch will turn big tomorrow on the last day.
IMO, Pontings captaincy of this tour has been average at best.
Hayden, Lee, Clark have struggled on this tour. Hayden needs a big one tomorrow. Otherwise he may find himself under pressure come the Aussie Summer. With Jacques to return.
