  1. Past rentings or supposedly homes for training venues such as the Junction Oval have only been really temporary until a decision on a long term future home base with state of the art facilities, which still is in process unfortunately. I would have thought latest development decisions are based on the benefits for the club - long term.
  2. I was hoping to put my name down for the first time for this game, & get a kick for the mighty red & blue or help out at least. Unfortunately Dec 7 is my daughters 4th B-day, weak excuse I know...would of loved to share the linement with the boys for this one. Hope you smash Saintsational. Hoping the date changes, if not look fwd to the next one. Would love to team up with the array of stars we have at D'Land & Ology.
  3. Your hitting the right keys there WYL: - Demons plan to turn MCG into elite facility
  4. Relax Schtak. You'll be happy with this one.
  5. I agree, some people within Casey will choose Melbournefc as their club of choice as a result of the foothold in Casey. If Melbournefc doesn't believe this, they wouldn't be making this bold move in this region.
  6. The answers for you Nugget, are in the link provided. Under the proposal, Melbourne would continue to train in the precinct — probably at Gosch's Paddock. - from link provided Schwab said the Demons were proposing in the short term to take over the two Great Southern Stand changing rooms with a view to becoming a major tenant in terms of administration and football operations - from link provided
  7. I agree with your observation on Birchall. Not a bad suggestion with regard to Davey, as we are lacking in that department. I would however rather use him in attack at half forward or bursts on the ball at times, and find another alternative down back if there is one. Certainly worth some thought, though, even worth a try next season to see how he goes. As Dappa alludes to, we definitely have room for a player to fit this department. If Smith fits this criteria, as it appears he does, I won't be disappointed if selected.
  8. Quite right. It is unfortunate. I agree with that Neita. Like you, I prefer Watts but I won't be disappointed either way, I will back our recruiting department and their knowledge of the draftees. Indeed D32, although IMO Watts is a M16 and Naitanui a pistol.
  9. What great news, I have everything crossed for this to come to fruition. Interesting to read there is not enough office space for the entire mfc at Bubbledome. The following quotes from Schwabby were music to my ears..... "We clearly have to be great for the MCC and we need them to be great for us. In 2009, 300,000 people are expected to go through the MCG outside of match days and if you look at an elite sporting club with a football team operating out of it we believe we can bring the stadium to life." Schwab said yesterday: "If this is the paddock that grew, then we are the people that cultivated it." We have no suburb to hang our hats on the way clubs like Collingwood and Richmond do. We want our relationship with the MCG to be reflected in everything we do." At the end of the day it is clear as crystal. The MCG is a symbol of Melbourne... It is our birth site IT IS MELBOURNE. By all means we should get a foot hold and stake our claim, or 'base camp' in Casey as a development region for the Melbournefc. The MCG is our summit. Our home. 2009 - A new dawn.
  10. What the? Mark Williams was announced midfield coach, you are not mistaken. That's a curly one. Strange....
  11. Yes, she said the club is prepared to look far and wide in search for memberships, including the dash to SEN studio's to sign up the crew. Jen did communicate well with the Crew, despite the conversation lasting less than a minute. Good to hear the memberships are up on same time last year. With the SUMMIT approaching as well as the exposure on our National draft picks come Nov 29th, I would expect the membership numbers to swell to well above the figure posted the same time last year. Go Demons!
  12. Indeed. If anyone did get the impression of a definitive pick in the national draft through Schwabs comments on SEN this morning, ... they're barking up the wrong tree.

    TOM HISLOP

Perhaps a "Powerpoint presentation" will secure him WJ?
  14. Correct. An excellent KPF and natural leader we are crying out for. Jeff White was a No.1 draft pick for the record. We have other picks available for the ruck department IMO.
  15. Correct. Bubbledome is for the Melbourne Storm & Melbourne Victory primarily and special events if warranted. What the MFC would have is state-of-the-art facilities used for weight sessions, recovery sessions. Which has been what the club has been after for years. Perhaps some drills on the turf occassionally.
  16. Nice try. Lets see your 22 Swampfox, many others have put their names to their best 22 at present. Deflecting or dismissing the exercise as amusing and futile is simply comical on your behalf.
  17. I get your drift Roost it, and you do think BIG. But 143,000? I take it 43,000 are sitting on the roof with harness's and following the strict Occ. Health & Safety Rules... Seriously though, the MCG is our home. Geelong has only recently been making money on its venue on the back of good management and improved crowd numbers due to its form. Prior to that Geelong were in the basket case and millions in debt. Casey is a step in the right direction for improved numbers, this will be enhanced once the form of the team turns and quality football is produced.
  18. It is a promising sign. Surely you cannot assume most people in Casey have no idea Melbournefc are grabbing a foothold in Casey. One would assume the people of Casey would be well aware of proceedings happening in their own backyard, through their local news. Melburnians love their sport. They would already be well aware of Casey Fields and the Casey Football Club. They would know of the split between Casey & St.Kilda. Also, would be well aware current proceedings at Casey involving the Melbourne Football Club as well as projects undertaken by Casey Council. Underestimate the residents of Casey at your peril.
  19. I would like to see these examples. I wouldn't say there are alot of MCC members here. As Rogue pointed out, there are more non-members.
  20. Walk the Plank?......You think he deserves to lose the captaincy over this WYL? I certainly don't think so, he has credits for me. The 2nd most successful captain behind Steve Waugh. Sure, he deserves some criticism for trying to fix the slow over rate by introducing part timers, but he went to White who got carted by Harbhajan and Dhoni to all parts of the park, so he then made another change in Hussey. What he should have done, and I'm sure he'd have his time over, is go for the win. Should have brought on a frontline bowler.
  21. You reckon! Wouldn't have thought that in a million years dandeeman. Not Goose, surely.
  22. Might not be there one hour after lunch. Disgraceful. Why on earth Katich has come out in that intention is . There should be the likes of Hayden, Ponting and Watson playing in that manner. But the likes of Katich, Hussey perhaps Clarke should be to occupy and tick it over. edit: The run rate is at around 6 an over, so the Aussies are going for it.
  23. 1/ Debt Demolition 2/ Advancements on Casey project with Casey Council (ongoing) 3/ New appointments 4/ Whilst there are no announcements...behind the scenes work for sponsors ...to name a few. edit: - He was quoted as saying "we have achieved much in a short time", rather than "much has been done". Jim acknowledges in his email to members, "...however there is still plenty of work to do and we all look forward to taking on those challenges in 2009."
  24. A long way to the total for a win. However, the first 3 overs has produced another 15 runs for no loss. 0/28 after 5 overs as I type this. Requiring another 354 runs with all (10) wickets in hand. Go Aussies...
  25. Yes. There hasn't been a suggestion yet, that an election 'should not ' happen. Jim and his board should be given more time. Ie/ Re-elected.
