you could also argue that jack viney fumbled the ball just prior to smith, but no-one mentions that. i don't know why smith's fumble gets so much comment. there are hundreds of similar fumbles in the game and anyway if he didn't fumble he would likely have been tackled or got off a rushed panic kick.
