One good thing about losing today is I think we'll pump the lions now. Beat the dogs and I'd be really worried we'd drop the game to the lions.

The way the dogs drop into tackles and throw the ball out of congestion is amazing. Cannot believe there hasn't been a league enquiry. It's so plain to see them do this over and over again every week.

Seriously think these guys could become our Brereton and Dunstall over the next half dozen years. Both are quick, very strong marks, have such sublime skills and smart footy brains. That Hogan pass to Jones in Q4 was just so smart because he saw him on the far flank then faked like he was going to kick to watts which pulled the defenders away from Jones. The way the game is moving with the interchange cap really suits them both too as they are likely to get more space to work in. They are becoming a really exciting 1-2 act and if the weed comes on like we hope our tall forward line could be the envy of the competition soon.

Agree with the OP. This weekend and following two weeks really will decide the season. I think that we will beat collingwood by 40 points and then beat Richmond by a similar margin, but I think the Saints will get us.

Watts basically kicked three of our first four goals (if you include the hands to hogan), which led to us turning around a 42 point deficit. He was the catalyst, dragged us back into the game, and you want to drop him?? Wow, glad your not picking the team.

Two things have changed in Jack Watts game as far as I can tell. 1) He is fitter, much fitter. The allows him to produce a much greater effort and has eliminated those moments where it appears he isn't trying just because he's completely spent. 2) He believes in himself now. I credit the current coaching staff with this. I'll never forget Neeld putting Watts down in his very first press conference, before he'd even taken over as coach. What a difference coaching makes. He also has a pretty decent frame now too, which is helping him hold his own in contests.

Around 100-150 memberships were sold on family day fyi (can't remember exact number). Was surprised how little, but person from the club who told me thought that was pretty good.

Danger with this game is that over the past 5-6 years, we generally play well below our ability when we have something to lose, when we are not the underdogs, when we are expected to win. This is caused by the psychological scars of the past, but hopefully this is the year we move past the "oh [censored] we couldn't lose this game could we" mentality that brought on such [censored] poor performances as essendon and Carlton last year, Brisbane the year before, etc. Hopefully this is the year we bury our demons once and for all and learn how to use confidence and concentration to dominate our opponents. I'll be at the g in round 2. Wouldn't miss it for the world.
