For all the high draft picks we've wasted over the years, it feels so sweet to absolutely nail a left field rookie pick like this. He already looks like a top 5 draft pick.

Which player positively suprised you against GC
Ron Burgundy replied to Henrietta Lumbago's topic in Melbourne Demons
The game plan. And, perhaps moreso, the ability of the whole team to actually execute it. For 120 mins. -
Spot on about the contested possession aspect Ron. And spot on re Jack Watts too. He's an asset. New favourites Lumumba, Gartlett and vandenBerg. And Newton. And Brayshaw. And Frost. And the future king of the club - Jesse. I am in a good mood.

I'm worried about this game. Need to keep the Suns in check on the contested possessions count. Will be interesting to see how we go in the clearances - this will be key to a win IMO. Want to see 10 plus tackles each from all of our mids today.

I really like this bloke. Absolutely awesome pick up for the club.

For what it's worth, I heard this from Sheedy himself. GWS was absolutely stoked to land Kelly. He was also laughing at us trading Kelly for Tyson (not to forget Salem). Sheeeeeeds appears to have underestimated Tyson. Our conversation was about round 2 last year. In fairness, he didn't say bad things about Tyson - just that Kelly is going to be a superstar. Don't reckon GWS will be letting Kelly go anytime soon.
-
GWS love Kelly.

I really like Trengove and hope he makes a full recovery and plays his entire career at this club. But he is so bloody boring in his interviews - he speaks too slowly. I find it painful to listen to.

I love Paul Roos.

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
Ron Burgundy replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
And, relevantly, Essendon has clearly been punished for what appears to be extremley poor governance. Lost draft picks, coach suspended, stripped of finals appearance etc. How this investigation has taken so long without any proper evidence is simply amazing to me. I actually think ASADA should be investigated. Stunning incompetence. -
THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
Ron Burgundy replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The entire thing has been handled in an unbelievably amateurish way.I don't have any affection for Essendon, although it seems to me that many of the views expressed here are based more on emotion and bias, rather than critical thinking or evidence-based analysis. -
PS - I plainly have no idea what he'll do or what he's thinking. No inside scoop from this particular iPad.

What if we're actually in the finals under Paul Roos?

THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
Ron Burgundy replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hope ASADA doesn't appeal and everyone can now move on. Lessons have been learnt. Carrying on with this will prove/achieve nothing. Also - it's just boring. I'd like the AFL community to get back to discussing the footy, not this stuff. -
Very good. I was determined to hate it before it started. And couldn't.

Hey Steve - I don't know if it's a no brainer to be fair. If McKenzie can effectively shut Ablett down, I'd be very happy with that. Particularly if it also enables Jones to get 30 disposals.

I'll defer to the football department on this one. Based in the reports I've read here, he certainly seems to have shown enough to be named. But I want the club develop him into the 300 gamer for this club (not hyperbole this time) that I reckon he might become. Round one, whilst tempting, is only one very small step on that journey. His development is key.

Brayshaw could very well be on track to be our first 500 gamer. -

Top post. The GWS approach for Howe last year - was it legitimate, or was it merely intended to be disruptive? Pick 7 or so would've been okay for him. In fact, Nakia Cockatoo would've been an attractive option for Howe IF Howe is entertaining leaving at the end of this season. That said, he strikes me as the loyal type. Hope he re-signs. -

Thanks - appreciate it. -
Best single post I have read in a long time Watchtheeyes - 10 out of 10. Positives out of last night: Gartlett, Vandenberg and Lumumba. Stoked we have these guys. What was Carlton thinking?!

I love Jeffy. Dead set, he's worth a top 10 draft pick. Got him for nudda. Freakin bargain of the century. -
