  1. Surely in that game in which Vandenberg picked up 800 or so touches for Ainslie, he was playing in the midfield?
  2. The reports as to his brilliance at training and in the interclub excite the hell out of me. Stoked we picked him up. And for what seems to be an absolute bargain too. There was a reason he was a bargain though. It's now up to the MFC (coaching and leadership groups) to return his off-field behaviour to where it needs to be.
  3. I think it's time to admit that I have been proven absolutely, incontrovertibly, 150% wrong on Sylvia. I love Bernie though.
  4. Perhaps under Mark Neeld they would ...
  5. Was thinking exactly the same thing reading these reports ...
  6. I'm perfectly calm. If you read this thread, objectively, as I do - you will see that there's a little brigade of posters who continually disagree with whatever Saty posts and then they furiously 'like' one anothers posts to the extent that they express a contrary (albeit at times a completely legitimate and relevant) view. I have not met one other regular poster on this site in person. I do not particularly care to meet anyone either. That said, I really enjoy reading the content here. I just find it annoying when posters attack each other - it's simply unnecessary and, for most others I expect, boring. If people want to attack others over the net, log onto BomberBlitz and wreak some havoc over there. Don't terrorise the Demons community.
  7. It's really disappointing that certain posters here seem entirely incapable of keeping it to the training reports and continually play the man instead of the ball. First of all, it's bloody tedious to read. Second, it's genuinely pathetic. We all support the same club. And, for me at least, Saty is possibly the most important poster on this site - he continually provides information that I find interesting and relevant.
  8. Absolutely agree. Some of the 'debates' here are absolutely petty in the extreme.
  9. Paul Roos is actually the messiah. He really is.
  10. I met the ex-wife of a very well known former MFC player and board member in Bali recently. She was very candid about things - historically and currently. She reported that, finally, the consensus is that the Demons have really got it together. As we all know, it's been an absolutely hopeless club for literally ages. That is no longer the case. Expect serious success from now on.
  11. Not the same type of players it seems, although it's possible that these two will be absolutely bargain picks for the club - a bit like Rory Sloane for the Crows. Sloane, according to comments I've heard made by Paul Roos previously (before he joined the Dees), had all the characteristics of a decent, hard at it, junior - was a bit slight etc, but the underlying attributes were all there. That said, no club was ever going to invest a first rounder on him - too slight, too much of a risk for a high pick, but was nonetheless always going to be a good AFL player. I reckon Stretch and ANB are a bit the same. They will make it, but no club was going to bid a first rounder for them, essentially for similar reasons. But, ironically, I think they will make it as very effective, long term AFL players and people will eventually say, 'how did these guys slide to picks in the 40s?' Perhaps it's the lack of obvious physical or star attributes as juniors?
  12. Friggin!
  13. I actually thought Clisby was okay.
  14. Possibly also the Pies and the Dogs. We seem more stable in terms of our coaching staff and team morale. Find it amazing that I'm even typing this. Thank you PJ and Paul Roos.
  15. Just read this. Really, really good news. Despite Petracca's devastating injury, this club is without doubt now on the right track. I feel positive about everything - just annoyed that I don't get to see Christian in action in 2015. JKH, Kent and Gartlett will be exciting in the forward line this year.
  16. Matt Jones is seriously underrated IMO. As was Dunn. And Jetta. I remember reading an article a while back in which Shannon Byrnes and David Rodan both said that Matt Jones was really evasive and had good skills - in short, a nice find. I reckon he'll get a lot of game time this year.
  17. And, relevantly, three of our more skilled players who probably don't require the skills training as much as some others on our list. It's genuinely hard to nail our best 22 without omitting some required players. Have to go back to about 10 years since we were last in this situation. I'm pumped.
  18. Good on you Saty - thanks for posting the training reports again: a decision that I expect the absolutely overwhelming majority of people here would be very happy about. I, for one, really appreciate it.
  19. TDI - which rookie, in your view, is most likely to get elevated? It seems Vandenberg may have been an absolutely inspired selection. Effectively another player to add to the midfield mix for the entire season.
  20. Would absolutely support a change of logo. I like that MFC logo which appears on the New Balance training guernseys and gear generally. The one that looks a bit like Carlton's.
