  1. And pick 2 for Tyson AND Salem. Pick 21 or so for Frost. Pick 600 for Garlett. Lumumba for Judas. Newton for nudda. vandenBerg for a bag of fairy floss from a country fair.
  2. Geez we dodged a bullet on Scully. Not only did we get great compo for him, we saved a bucket load of dough in terms of our cap.
  3. And Brayshaw for Frawley. Contrast that to the Neeld period during which we effectively got nudda for Rivers and Martin. Bernie is already one of my favourite players. Roos is a dead set genius at this stuff.
  4. I thought he'd do really well at Freo. Got this one wrong. Massively. Fortunately Roos makes these decisions now.
  5. Howe's absolutely a required player. For many reasons. Hopefully paying him way 'overs' for him to stay is not however required.
  6. I'm obviously one of those 'muppets'. And I'm very happy to put my hand up as a big Watts' supporter. Let's see who's the muppet at the end of the season.
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing Bernie replicate last week's intensity. I'm absolutely pumped.
  8. One thing's for sure - Howe won't be receiving $650k a year at the Hawks. Hope he re-signs though - I don't want to see us lose any more required players, and I really like Howe.
  9. Watts is a very important player for us. Many here would probably prefer Simon Godfrey - but I want the class, vision, speed and skills that Jack possesses. That said, I don't want 22 Jack Watts' in the line up each week - although I think it's good to have one. He'd be in virtually every other club's best 22. The two drop marks weren't as a result of softness - intensity perhaps - but I just think he lost concentration about marking the ball as he was already thinking what next to do with it. And he is loyal to the MFC - I respect that.
  10. Absolutely agree. Relevantly, it seems Paul Roos and the football committee do as well. The tedious Watts' bashing here is the thing that's soft. And mindlessly predictable.
  11. Sheahan or Brown: 'Will Watts play next week?' Roos: (without any hesitation) 'ABSOLUTELY!'
  12. When does Martin's current contract end?
  13. GWS must be absolutely thrilled that they have Scully on their list eating up stacks of their cap for ever and ever with no end in sight. Shiel would obviously be a fantastic addition for us. Shiel plus Sloane or Aish or Selwood would be just unreal.
  14. We absolutely need to go hard to get him. Stef Martin too.
  15. Just checked out the Hawks website to read about Frawley's injury. I was alarmed to read that the Hawks have 69,000 members. Unbelievable turnaround given its position in the 90s. It serves to illustrate just how poorly this club has been managed prior to PJ and Roos coming on board.
  16. Pity that we didn't manage to also land Lewis Taylor. I read something here to the effect that we would've picked him with about, say, pick 12 but then on traded that pick. Can't remember the exact details now.
  17. I'm not that worried about our forward line. In my view, Dawes adds value/some balance to it. What I want to see is more midfield intensity/speed/skill/class/hardness - put simply, the recruiting of Shiel, Aish and one other really effective mid. And a really decent back up ruck/part time forward, eg, Ryder or, face palm, Stef Martin.
  18. Positives to come out of the game. 1. It revealed that we still desperately need more class/speed in the midfield; and 2. Shiel is absolutely gun. Why is '2' a positive? Well, it highlighted to the MFC how much we need him and, relevantly, he is out of contract at the end of the year. Get Aish too and we have a midfield.
  19. Needed another big and effective ruck to compete with Mumford in the second half. We simply couldn't win any clearances.
  20. We got Lumumba - he's a game changer for this club.
  21. I bloody love this. It just shows that some players still play with passion, for love of club, team mates, and that some still respect the wonderful opportunity that the game, indeed a club, can give them etc - not merely for the $$$ they receive each week.
  22. Is Yarran a free agent at the end of 2016? For the first time in living memory the Demons seem to be becoming a viable/attractive destination for players wanting to change clubs/States.
