WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
He was apparently good mates with Sam Blease.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
I, for one, will desperately miss Chip's well intentioned, country boy loyalty.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Brayshaw and Petracca would be unbelievable for this club. Would be very happy with Brayshaw and McCartin too. In some respects, having picks 2 and 3 is probably as good as having picks 1 & 2 in this draft.

Melbourne considering shifting its base to MCG
Would be a positive move.

The Ollie Whines Lounge
Who do you think Port would've selected with pick 4 in that draft, picket? Anyone have the inside scoop for that matter?

The Ollie Whines Lounge
Posted this on the 'trades' thread but perhaps more relevant to this one. ... I agree. Toumpas looks okay to me. His greatest crime appears to have been in being selected ahead of Ollie Wines. Hardly his fault, and not the only player in that draft to be selected above him. In fact, it'd be interesting to know who Port would've selected with pick 4 if they were in our position. As we all know, all the clubs had Toumpas going ahead of Wines on draft day. That Wines would now be selected ahead of most in the league is a completely different issue.

Jack Watts
I suggest that all the Jack Watts detractors here, all of whom say the same stuff week in week out, listen to the last section of the Bernie Vince interview on the official website. I'll back Bernie's views over the repetitive keyboard warrior criticism that I continually read here about Watts. Watts clearly brings a lot more to this list, on and off field, than many here care/bother to recognise. Fortunately, I reckon the likes of Paul Roos get this though.

Find of 2014
Reckon Riley should've been included in that list. I reckon he'll prove to be the 'find' that Adelaide didn't see coming and which they may very we'll live to regret. Vince, Michie, Cross and Tyson are our best recruits IMO, but (with the possible exception of Michie) I hardly think any of them are 'finds' as such. Probably a battle between JKH and Georgiou for the 'find' of 2014. On a needs basis, probably Georgiou.

WELCOME BACK TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - NEVILLE JETTA
Really like the bloke. Might as well have my Mum on the list instead though. They'll play a commensurate amount of games for the club going forward.

Jack Watts
BH, I regard you as one of the best posters on this site. It's possible, however, that your assessment of Watts is not entirely on the money. Surely you should reassess your view on Watts given Roos assessment of him, particularly given that you clearly rate Roos.

Jack Watts
I'd like to see a term incorporated into Watts' new MFC contract that he be obliged to sack Connors as player agent and retain the services of someone with a brain. I will be very, very happy to see Watts and Sylvia re-commit to this club. Fingers crossed.

Jimmy Toumpas
It's turnovers that have been absolutely KILLING us. We need more draftees like Jimmy Toumpas, not less. Like everyone here, I really like Wines - but he has the likes of Boak and Hartlett running alongside him. Big difference.
-
Jimmy Toumpas
I'm not worried about Toumpas. At all. We've certainly made some astonishingly bad draft decisions in recent years, but Toumpas isn't one of them.
-
Jimmy Toumpas
I'm not worried about Toumpas. He'll be a classy long term player for this club.

Jimmy Toumpas
I have absolutely no doubts about this kid. Great character too. Quite frankly, I can't believe we got him at pick 4. I'd love Ollie Wines as well. But it's not really about Toumpas v Wines IMO - they are different players, and, in any event, we picked the more highly rated one of the two.
- Anyone for cricket?
-
Jimmy Toumpas
Toumpas will be a gun. I have absolutely no doubt about that. Wines is already a gun. I'd say most clubs in the competition would want both of them, particularly because they have different, albeit complimentary, offerings. Port and the MFC will seek to lock in each player for a very long time.
-
Jimmy Toumpas
Toumpas was a no brainer at pick 4. Astonishing that he was still available in fact.
-
Jack Watts
I had thought we let Rivers go because Watts was going to perform his role. Seems as though we're a bit all over the shop here. Also, I don't see Gawn as a player aggrieved with Neeld - it's the older players who seem to have an issue with him. PS. I get that Rivers was a free agent and 'decided' to leave.
-
Jack Watts
Bloody hell. If this is true, I am absolutely in the camp of retaining Frawley, Watts and Sylvia over Neeld. These signatures are a litmus test for Neeld IMO.

Josh Caddy
Hope we implement and then strictly enforce the Swans' no d1ckhead policy. It works.

North could be the smokey here. I think they have pick 14.

Ben Cousins arrested on drug charges
Having read this thread, it is clear to me that a lot of people have very strong views on the issue of drug regulation (as does most of the community). Unfortunately it also seems to me that many of those views appear not to be based on any detailed knowledge/understanding of the underlying facts/evidence in relation to the issue. The whole issue is neatly summarised by this week's Rear Vision. The attached podcast is not related to Ben Cousins, but I recommend that anyone who is interested in this issue should listen to this podcast: http://www.abc.net.a...l-drugs/3894358 The program does not express a view in itself, rather it interrogates the issues from different perspectives and covers the various approaches to the issue adopted by different countries, to varying degrees of success. As an aside, for those of you who are not aware of Rear Vision, it is essentially a history program that is produced by ABC's Radio National each week. It is one of the most intelligent radio programs that this country produces. And that's saying something, given that the overall quality of Australian media is simply astonishingly bad.

Neeld pours heat on Demons
Neeld + Misson + Craig = massive credibility. None of the senior players will be able to complain or patronise or whinge or about a negative message being delivered to them by this coaching panel. If any of these guys make a negative comment about a player's performance, it has massive weight underlying it. And the players know that. Exciting stuff. Sylvia could win the Brownlow in 2012 - even though I think suspending him sends completely the correct message, I also wish he could get the three votes in round 1. I think he will absolutely flourish under Neeld (as will many others). Some could struggle though.

CYCLING
I had tears watching him win the yellow jacket and then speaking after the time trial - he is just a total legend.
