  1. My highlight of the day was Bennel's run down tackle, I don't think I've ever yelled out BAAAAAAAALL louder in my life... Davey is the only person that should be allowed to kick the ball in our team, as AFL footballers our footskills are a complete farce.
  2. I'm going for Casey now, but have a big soft spot for the Zebs, went to quite a few of their games and I bought a guernsey too lol so I kind of feel a little obligated to follow them still + their song is awesome haha
  3. If you guys are interested in learning a bit more about where Liam comes from, check out: http://www.youtube.com/user/AboriginalRules its a series of videos from the DVD Aboriginal Rules that a friend of mine - Liam Campbell together with the Warlpiri Media Association made about football in Central Australia and follows the journey of the Yuendumu Magpies season of 2007 (...or maybe 2008 not sure entirely) its pretty inspiring stuff. Liam Jurrah features in snippets of the videos, but I would suggest you watch them more to see the difference in the living environment in Yuendumu compared to Melbourne cos it sure makes you appreciate the transition Liam Jurrah is making! RudeBoy, are you from Yuendumu also? I'm proud to say that I'm a Jungarayi too - my dad travels to Yuendumu every year when our school stays there as part of their Central Australia trip in yr 10 and he was given the skin name Japaljarri back before I was born so when I went up there in '04 I already knew mine before all the other students got theirs haha.
  4. My school travels to Yuendumu every year as part of our Central Australia trip we do in year 10. We've got close ties with their community. My bro was just speaking to one of our ex-students who works in Yuendumu now and Liam Jurrah was with him while they were talking haha! Not sure when he comes down to train yet, hopefully I can find out... This is so exciting for me, having seen the living conditions in Yuendumu... its great that someone from their town can be represented in the AFL. they are a football-mad town you have no idea and the best news is that they'll all probably go for Melbourne now because of Jurrah and not Collingwood like they all do atm. (They're team is called Yuendumu Magpies so they love Collingwood)
  5. I spotted the demon at Hungry Jacks last week, he was wearing a trench coat and sun glasses and a big hat, but you could tell it was him, I hope he accepts Jimmy's request to put the red and blue jumper back on for 09' lol
  6. that could work... not a bad idea. I would just be a bit worried about what's going on with a potential Tassie team forming in the next 5 years... but short term I think it is a good idea
  7. Fair points. I'd love to see us play our one 'home' away game each year in Darwin, rather than Canberra though... that'd be cool - Wheels, Davey and Wona would all be get Brownlow votes for that game atleast
  8. No, because I think he's leadership will be just as valuable to our up-and-comings than having an extra player, although if pick 16 is supposed to be a good pick given the draft I guess I wouldn't be too disappointed...
  9. If Green goes to Collingwood I'll probably throw up...
  10. I agree get rid of him regardless, there's no worth in him playing for Casey next year we may as well open up a spot for another player on the list and cop the 250k pay out if we have to I reckon
  11. yeah, they're all interesting points I reckon. We've never really ever had that 'Superstar' player like a Judd, Franklin, Goodes who can just break apart a match of footy - and the frustrating thing is we've still had the lows that Hawks, West Coast and others had where we were in the box seat to get a gun footballer but we just never capitalized... Let's hope we get it right with Watts... fingers crossed.
  12. Yeah I went there earlier this year for a couple of weeks (I'm not calling myself a local by any means) but it was interesting to see the media coverage in the papers with AFL and NRL - seemed about 50-50 to me. But I definitely think there could be a future up there. I'd love for Melbourne to send some talent scouts up there... I reckon its a gold mine, let's just recruit all of Davey's, Whelan's, Wona's and Cyril Rioli's cousins haha
  13. haha that's game! I'd be up for that... not sure how it would work with Tassie looking to get a team up and running in the next 5 years though... I'd love to have some home games in Darwin, I don't think a NT territory team would ever be realistic though purely on their climate (their footy season is about to start now!) but in terms of population Darwin is the same as Launceston (100k) so it couldn't be all that bad...?
  14. lol. as much as I hate bad decisions as the next person, its beyond me as to how footy supporters think umpires are actually biased to certain football sides.
  15. lol I loved waverly (mainly cos i lived right near it) I like the idea of Punt road being done up!
  16. Man he was awful (amongst many others of course) yesterday with his kicking... I loved the fact that he broke the lines and took them on, a great sign indeed.. but man his disposals made me cringe! If he can work on his disposal he will add some serious excitement to Melbourne's game.
  17. hate to shoot you down here, but I disagree, I'm pretty sure any supporter would be hopping with joy if their team ended the game like that... But the crowd was nice and vocal I must say.
  18. I took the mark in the 3rd level stands - came straight to me lol!!! Awesome moment
  19. 3. Celebrate our Irish connection by letting the players get trashed with fans on St Paddy's day - Valenti* to be a Lapricorn.
  20. Anyone hear the "Bristol" (Brian Taylor) on Triple M afterwards? "Wonna-meeeeeeeeeeerreeeeeeeee!" everytime he referred to him, even after the game in the interview haha!!!
