  1. so i've heard... (bout the weather that is) I went to Mindil Beach Sunset market tonight and it was cancelled from the rain! Sick sunset though... Question... Why is the bloody NRL footy show on up here instead of the better one?! It's a disgrace lol
  2. Another update... Just reading the NT paper, apparently the team will be doing promo stuff at Casuarina Sq. from 3-4 tomoro...
  3. I'm at Monsoon's on Mitchell St. They do a good pizza... We just had a bit of rain just before... Nothing too heavy, but pretty refreshing with the humidity! It's been pretty random this week though and they dont' reckon it'll be gne until about Monday or Tuesday so it looks like it will make for pretty tough conditions come Saturday night... I also rang AFL NT before and have been told that training is at 19:15-20:00 (pretty short session!) at TIO Stadium Friday night, so once again, if anyone's keen, I'll be there, drop me a line on D.L. So pumped for the game, my mate works up here for a local radio station (Mad dees supporter) and is doing the MC ing for the game! PS where is everyone sitting? I'm in 'Green 2' in the stand...
  4. Flew up on Monday night/ Tuesday morn 01:45 flight ouch! But loving the weather so much! Pretty humid yeterday but this morning is beautiful... Sunny with a light ocean breeze... Aaaah! Anyone keen to watch the Dees train? I rang up the club and was told that Port would be training before us at TIO on Friday night, then us at 19:30 ish... Anyway I'll be there if anyone's keen to join me. Can't wait for this Saturday should be a cracker - my prediction - Davey and Wona to dominate infront of their home crowd! ps if anyone sees a guy in town today with blue boardies and a melbourne guersey that's me hahA
  5. I've been checkng the forecast on www.weatherzone.com.au I find they're usually pretty good, however, their forecast has changed every day this week since I've been checking it! I think it's a bit too hard to predict what it's gonna be like given the dry season hasn't properly come in yet, one thing's for sure, it will def. be around 26-30 degree mark, but I think the humidity will play the biggest part in how we run out the game, and at the moment, it's too hard to predict that factor...
  6. haha I'm glad we got that sorted, I would've struggled getting to sleep tonight otherwise...
  7. yeah can't stand her voice...
  8. haha, yeah I've heard these games are known for their streakers, why wouldn't you when its still 28 degrees at 8:30pm?
  9. Just lettin' ppl know flights to Darwin (from Melb) are $130 on Jetstar til this Thursday. http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/cheap-flights/sales.aspx hope this helps anyone thinking of still going!
  10. Hey guys looks like there's cheap flights to Darwin (from Melbourne) $130 one way on Jetstar til the 22nd April (This Thursday!) Get on it if anyone was thinking of going...
  11. Hey guys, sorry its a bit early... just wondering if anyone is traveling up north for the game? I'm going (not jst for the Dees, I go every year to escape the cold for a week!) Would be good to see some Red and Blue in the crowd, should be a bit of fun, hopefully Davey carves it up in front of his home crowd!
  12. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...80/default.aspx Should be a good day
  13. Yep, its a tricky one eh? Most of us would be happy with the result from Sunday. Its a shame that we seem to be able to actually match some good-ish sides when we get our sh#t together (something that should have happened a lot more in the first half of the season) and yet we'll almost certainly lose every single game (bar Freo) from here on in, when really we are starting to get some momentum up. I kinda wish sometimes that Vlad and DB would just come out and say we're tanking, cos its so bloody obvious. Yet I don't blame DB for these tactics, its probably the best form of tanking I can think of, and probably beneficial for the playing group (with regards to experimentation of new possies) and above all else, IF THE SYSTEM ALLOWS IT WE MAY AS WELL MILK IT, hopefully next year Vlad will come out of his shell and bring the lottery system in because its taking the integrity out of the game all too quickly and its not healthy.
  14. Sik. I'm up here at the moment on holiday, weather's soooooooo good (its 26 degrees atm @ 11:35pm) all the more reason to come back next year now that I've heard this news. I actually played a round of golf at Darwin golf club today which is right next to TIO Stadium, looks like a good ground to watch footy at, plus I won't have to worry about freezing my ass off too. Darwin is such a good place to come to during our winters I hope we canget as many games up here as possible.
  15. haha yes definately, I'm sorry that he couldn't play for your team, would of been great for Liam too given that he would still get to wear the black and white (a reference to the Yuendumu Magpies of course.) Question... who did he barrack for as a kid? Was it Collingwood like everyone else at Yuendumu??? (that's the impression I got when I was there in '04 haha) also, I have sent you an email (through Demonland) just checking that you recieved it...?
  16. He also seemed to think Paul Wheatley was just about best on ground...
  17. A bit off topic here... but... I guess bad umpiring will always be a part of any sport really, however I think if we want the standard to improve, people really need to stop criticising them because all it does is shed a negative light on umpires as a group and makes it more and more unappealing for people to choose as a potential career. I have no doubt that there are some people who would make great umpires but don't see any benefits in choosing it as a career because they know its not worth the scrutiny they come under week in - week out hence the AFL doesn't really doesn't have much to work with. Maybe I'm wrong here... but a guy who went to my school is rising steadily in the ranks of the EFL as an umpire and doing the odd VFL match right now and he is a makes the worst decisions from the many games I've seen him in. Sure its only one scenario but from what I hear, the next generation of umpires aren't going to be much chop... Would you ever want to become an umpire? (sorry if I've offended anyone who is an umpire lol)
  18. Its a shame Valenti is back down in the VFL. Admittedly I didn't see his game last week due to sport commitments. Not sure who should have been dropped in his place, but by all reports he has been dominating in the 2s for quite some time.
  19. I doubt it. Yes Yuendumu is pretty small in population, but there is a lot of criminal stuff that goes on there anyway. My old man goes there every year with the school (he's a teacher) for a week for our Central Australia Trip and he reckons that this kind of stuff happens every now and then and that most ppl just mind their own business, its quite a different culture up there and that's an understatement.
  20. I thought McLean was disappointing today, seemed to go missing along with Moloney and Jones for a bit in the latter stages of the game. Can't believe Davey only finished with 20 touches (20 is good still of course)... I guess I was just so amazed at all his possessions - he has the best foot in our team by an absolute mile, maybe Bate can get some tips off him at training.. that's if he's not dropped.
  21. haha hopefully we're not wearing the white AWAY shorts or he could be in some trouble here...
  22. I did my best, managed to get 3 of my mates, the brother and 3 Crows supporters so I plead NOT GUILTY.
  23. They should really close off the top tier on games like these ala Freo comeback game last year. Question... is 20,000 the no. for us to break even? or does it differ from team to team that we play against? Cos the freo game was 20k last yr...
