    MCC

yeah fair point... it just annoys me particularly on the days when an event should be a sellout, e.g. Boxing Day 2006 - Warney's 700th wicket. Probably cricket's greatest chance to crack 100,000 (or atleast the high 90s) and the MCC members blew it... all because of a little bit of rain.

    MCC

Ok... I know this isn't exactly specific to the Melbourne Demons... BUT! I think the majority of MCC members are a disgrace. (I apologise to those who actually DO turn up to events) I know so many MCC members that go to maybe 3 or 4 things at the MCG each year... Let me say this, in 2006 I would have attended - probably 7 Melbourne home games at the 'g + 2 or 3 away (also at the 'g) - 4 or 5 Victoria Bushrangers matches (Twenty20 + One Day Domestic + a few days at the Pura Cup) - all 3 ODI's of Australia's matches - 3 days of the Boxing Day Test (including Warney's 700th wicket day) - 2 events of the commonwealth games. add that up... that's atleast 20 events at the MCG that I went to. Last year was not as many but still atleast 10 or 11 times. And yet I have to wait a good 15 YEARS to get a membership - a membership in which thousands of people who are part of the 'club' don't even use properly! That is why I think the MCC membership should be loyalty based - that is, those who do not attend a certain number of events each year should lose it and their membership be offered to someone who WILL use it! Once again I apologise to those MCC members here that do get value for their money, but I think it is unfair. Thoughts anyone?
  3. Indigenous Round is recognizing the contribution of Indigenous players in our game, but I think it is there for the bigger picture as our country is trying to bridge the gap between cultures, it can only be a good thing. Besides, Indigenous round isn't the only special round in the fixture.. we have ANZAC round (well its not a round, but there is a ceremony before each match of that weekend), Women's round, Rivalry round etc.
  4. Yeah I've pretty much been able to go to every Sunday game (in Victoria) this year cos I play sport on Saturday, but I'd be more than happy for us to have more Saturday or Friday games if it means we get bigger attendances...
  5. I agree, he would have been shattered to not be part of yesterday's team. Hopefully he comes back. I've got faith in him.
  6. Definitely. I think this is probably his last chance. Its sad to think that only 2 years ago, he was tipped to play until he was 35 and he certainly looked as if his body would hold up too but he's really gone downhill.
  7. How dodgey was the Jamar decision when he was rucking in the throw-in in the Crows forward 50?! Sure, he caught the ball but he had it for maybe 0.20 of a second and then he was ridden straight into the turf face down only to be paid a free kick against him for holding the fricken ball - so glad the Crows dude missed the goal otherwise I would've probably put a hole in my tv lol
  8. Na I think its the right time for him to come back... he was down on confidence + still not 100% last year after his shorter stint at Sandy... I think he'll come back a lot stronger this time.
  9. Lol fair enough, I just thought it'd be a rare opportunity to see the best of the best that's all. Oh and I'm also Victorian...
  10. Heard on the radio that the Vics will be training at the 'G tomoro (Wednesday)... and seeing as I'm already going to Junction to watch our mob, I was gonna swing by the MCG... anyone know what time the VICS are training?
  11. me n wheats after the 2006 Sandy granny haha!!
  12. haha yeah what a legend, its such a good tradition, shame we can't win more often to let him play, it was funny at the carlton game, maybe they knew we weren't gonna win so they made him play before the game haha! oh and NO, i don't know who he is...
  13. lol. yeah I don't think I've yelled so much since I was at skilled stadium amongst all those ferals (in 2005 when the dees beat them by a point!!!) but I reckon all my "frustration yelling" in the 1st half was easily outdone in the 2nd half by my "celebration yelling" + my yelling out to my brother to get his attention amongst the thousands on the ground after the game! Thank God for that.. is there anything better than having a kick on the ground after your team's won.
  14. Oh yeah that was funny (the Mal Michael thing) I've been up to the Gabba games the last three years cos I have family there and its always a good opportunity to escape the cold melbourne weather! Speaking of the Brissy games, I was right behind Aussie when he kicked that freak goal, and I remember Davey getting that one last year when he volleyed it from 30 metres out! Good times good times (bar the losses lol) AND of course, I forgot the Broady game... man... that was pure emotion at the start for everyone involved... (especially for me considering that my last game I had been to was indeed the Elimination Final against Essendon (f%$k you Dean Solomon you dirty bastard - if anyone remembers that )the year before and it was Broady's last game that he played of AFL footy...
  15. Sure this kind of topic has been posted before... but I'm only new to this forum and I would like to hear what everyone's favourite games (or moments) are. Here are mine: 2000 qualifying final - V Carlton - for obvious reasons 2004 round 11 - V Freo at Subi - we were done and dusted at 3 quarter time, bucketed down in the 4th to the point where you could hardly see what was going on and yet we managed to kick 7.6 in the last quarter to storm home! 2005 - rounds 20 - 22 1. V Geelong at Skilled Stadium - my first time down at the Cattery, needed to win all our remaining games to make the finals, the boys stuck it out and pulled off a 1 point win [Geelong 15.9 (99) Melbourne 14.16 (100) ] with the geelong player missing the shot on goal after the siren to notch our first win in 17 years at Skilled. 2. V W.Bulldogs at the 'G [Melbourne 16.13 (109) Western Bulldogs 16.9 (105) ] I was at the game again - awesome game (remembering that we needed to win our last three for the season) - a comeback out of no where - Jeff White the superstar kicking the goal to steal the victory - similar feeling to yesterday 3. V Essendon Essendon 12.13 (85) Melbourne 13.17 (95) - Another thriller, had a stupid family do on, but managed to see the second half, Robbo kicking us into the finals! 2006 elimination final - V St Kilda 10.12 (72) Melbourne 13.12 (90) - Made it to the game - after two years of straight elimination, the pressure was on (also for St Kilda) - a very close tussle, big crowd, big win and we made the G-Train look stupid along with the "highly esteemed" Saints 2008 - Round 7 - ie yesterday! (If you can't remember what happened you can barrack for Collingwood lol) oh AND of course all the Queen's Birthday matches since 2004!
  16. yep they certainly did. I'd like to have Whelan back in, I'd like think he is in our best 22. We've got Saints at the 'Dome after the Hawks and then the FILTH!!!!!!!!!!! and from that perspective I'd be happy with 1-3 (no questions asked on which game we win haha)
  17. Not an easy assignment. But I'd be happy with 1-1. Thoughts anyone? ... and do we need to make any changes?
  18. Yeah that'd be sweet. I love a big crowd, regardless of the result (unless its against the Filth (haha that's such a good name for them) cos I can't stand collingwood supporters) but yeah should be a good game if you compare it to round 1 lol
  19. yep, Bate shoulda been back much earlier (although if he was injured or "not 100%" I can accept that) at any rate, it is so good to have him back.
  20. I agree. The hawks game in three weeks time is very important for the MFC because itis our home game and we can expect a crowd of 35-40,000 (maybe more if we upset the crows at AAMI) and this is a great opportunity to get some profit for the club with a good crowd, its also a good opportunity to see either an awesome upset like yesterday or at the very least, see a classy team in hawthorn play (and beat us probably) but atleast we'll see some good footy! lol
