Interesting article today in The Age about the loyalty of Tom Hafey. I know he's from a different era and is so passe, but there's a certain No 1 draft pick pratt who could take a leaf out of this man's philosophy. Chris Dawes espouses the same values as our young Jacks - he would have been a worthwhile pick up. Never mind.

Agree - nice piece, beautifully written. I think that Davey still needs to be 'coached'. He struggles to break a heavy tag and all the other clubs have been alerted to this. Neeld will hopefully have a plan that will have him protected (by a Moloney type) or a set play that will see him run into space. I know it's easy to write all this, much harder to execute. Having said that, AFL footy is all about structure and discipline. At the end of the day, the team needs the ball in Davey's hands. I hope he can get his body right.

I was going to howl you down, but I see your point. Every player in the forward line is ALWAYS St Nick - conscious. Kosi has no footy smarts or peripheral vision. Give him a basic instruction - contest the long ball in, 30 metres out. Not bad.

The Club should have a look at Patrick Rose - small forward, lovely kick, has been in the system for quite a while now and presents with a mature body. Won the goal kicking this year and really knows how to create space for the bigger forwards. I think he'll make the transition easily. We've been crying out for a small forward since Wona's horrible year (no fault of his own) and Maric's inability to make the grade.

100% agree - the amount of heat this guy drew was incredible. If we nab him and he draws 2 or 3 defenders every week, our mid forwards are going to have a constant supply of the footy.

Much bigger, stronger and a much better kick. Miller's problem was that he was too shaky in front of goals, so he had to play further upfield. Dawes will play the role of the big gorilla in the arc that will allow Jurrah, Green, Watts and Pettard some freedom to lead harder.

Honestly, if this Club manages to snare Chris Dawes, it'll be the biggest signing since, since, Moore and Templeton?

Do you think that Maric will do it? I can't understand how this player could possibly be sought by other clubs. I still don't think that Sewell is going anywhere.
