I don't think Belly is half the player he used to be - that horrific, reckless, hip to the head by that mongrel Johnson may have affected his psyche. Denis Cometti reckons that Belly lacks awareness, but at the moment, the kid needs a shrink because he's gutsy and can play.

I never mentioned any return to the AFL either - what's THAT relevance to the thread? It seems that the only two people I've had any communique with have had a bit of a nip at the heels. Do me a favour - don't take yourself so seriously. My anecdote was merely a recollection of an ole story I once heard. Surely you've done that? A campfire, the herd nice and quiet, twanging on the gee-tar and having a story that's milling and swimming around in your head? With your tight jeans, big boots and miller shirt? Also, with all your threats, are you a bar room brawler? coooolll - haven't spoken to one of those in a while....

Dear OMR - There is a tale about a very good player that went back to play for his local team and then was lured back to his AFL club - Mark Bairstow. Apparently, he went back and played for Lake Grace somewhere over in the wild, wild, west and local folklore has it that in one particular game, he picked up 80 touches!! Having said that, all records from 'over there' are considered questionable in light of what chemical content the Fremantle Doctor breezes in with. Nonetheless, 426 looked too slow for AFL footy and paralleled with his shocking spate of injuries, it's best that he keeps playing for ol' Balwyn Combined and dream of what could have been.......

you gotta start somewhere, evil one.

100% concur Whispering - that was the day that matthews broke steve smith's nose and the older johnno played a blinder on dipper. standing room only, a couple of cans, game worth eight points and they pulled it off!! Emotion? what emotion? that went out the door with commitment, loyalty, camaraderie, humility, you know what i'm talking about.... ps do parents out there still feed their kids brussel sprouts??
-
was there ever a bigger case of prostitution in history? Notwithstanding the time I was made to eat my greens before I could go and see my beloved Dees trounce the Dawks at Glenferrie oval. aaah, *sigh* memories - they won that day, too.
-
Heard him speak, ay? Whereabouts? Don't tell me...I love surprises - anyway, I bet you ordered the double parma for $19.90. Not bad for a Monday night. Tell me, did the kids eat for free??? What the hell did you expect him to say??? That we're shot to pieces and have no hope this year? Even Cam Bruce assures us that we can the finals - Maybe HE should borrow by Kubrick collection, seasons 1, 2 and 3!! I hope we don't have to wait another 10 years for the re-building of this team to begin. PS Kramer? - these pretzels are making me thirsty.
-
incredible - more delusional misgivings by irrational posters. first of all, i'm supposed to know who cuddles is, now i'm caro???!! i think i have walked into a grand poobah convention. ths stuff is surreal....cool, i'm getting out my stanley kubrick videos now....or maybe 1998 dees v wet coast, robbo kicks 4!!! Kramer - stick with me son...giddyup!!
-
now we're talking....bb59, i like the metaphor and hence my initial post. i like 'cuddles'. believe it or not, i think bailey is putting on a brave face but there's not much he can do at the moment, hence your notion of our shaky foundations. i was merely concerned that there are not many ex-coaches out there that are team managers. i do not want to sack the coach.....perhaps you should read the post with more clarity before you shake your gory locks at me......
-
Thanks jarka - i feel like I've infiltrated some sort of grand poobah convention.

It was a term of endearment, condemned 84, to astrodee.....surely you remember astroboy? apologies to you and astrodee for my freudian slip but i loved astroboy!!! he would fly into adversity, always ready to take on the enemy, had heart, had passion, could kick either foot... hang on.....you two aren't the same person are you??? are you??
-
Who's Cuddles? Bomber and Clarkson are totally different astroboy, sorry, astrodee. Bomber has had the advantage of the father-son rule to pick up a heap of talent, including a Brownlow medalist from us. Clarkson had some actual big names he could throw on the table, unlike our team at the moment. All I said was that the Connolly appointment was quite interesting, considering he was an ex-coach. Are the roles clearly defined or are the lines getting cloudier? I've copped a bit, but that's okay - i need to get my posts up to get bb59's respect.
-
hey dee - luded, take a number to abuse me, man!! Only bb59 has that right with 3,000 odd posts compared to your pissy number! Show some respect.
-
Yes...well - I love the ole 'been here 5 mins, chappy, and you're creating quite a stir..wot?' Get over yourself - I was merely making a statement about the relationship between Bailey and Connolly. Are the roles that clearly defined? You obviously seem to be in the 'know'. PS lol? what the hell is that? how old are you? rofl!!
-
am i to respond as rudely as that? who are you, bb59, that seems to know the intricate workings of this club? someone special? are you dean bailey? no...say it isn't so!!!
-
I know that Dean Bailey is as calm as can be at the moment - he's not under any stress, what can I do he says? Keep playing the young kids, he says...the experienced guys are letting us down he says... I wonder if there'll be any pressure at 0 - 12 and Chris ' I have no aspirations to coach again' Connolly waiting on the outer? No so comfortable with your Costello smirk now, are you Dean? mmmm?

Hey, Rev, where are you now? Why don't you post on this board, telling us exactly what sort of future you were building for this club? By clinging onto players who had SOME currency value 3 or 4 years ago, (but worth nothing now!!) you have left Dean Bailey trying to build from the depths of (possibly) no return.
-
I'll tell you why - he let Chance Bateman run wild, missed his targets and gave away several stupid free kicks by falling onto the back of his opponent. The only positive is that he's moving freely and he needs to go back to Sandy to learn some defensive skills.

I need to correct your last sentence - jealous. Please don't call me names for saying I don't like the guy. Is he a front runner? 10 year player? Only time will tell. Enjoyment doesn't need to include arrogance. A touch of humility endears him to all. Mark Williams stopped that skylarking 3 or 4 years ago by pretending to fire a rifle after a goal. It back fired on him (pardon the pun) and he lost form. When he stopped being a fool, he was a better player. I don't begrudge a player enjoying a goal, but don't carry on after you've kicked six on the 16th best fullback in the competition and you're fed by a midfield that were fantastic on Sunday. Anyway, enough on this - bring on the 'Smiling Assasin' and the Doggies!!! Cheers, Jumbo

Why does the media latch onto the biggest [censored] of all time? The Hawthorn supporters around me were having an orgasm every time he outmarked our 'superstar' Nathan Carroll. They were groaning 'oh! Buddy, Buddy, Buddy!' I felt like vomitting. The guy has no humility and plays only for himself. Maybe I'm jealous? Nope! He's a [censored]!!!

I agree with Gerard Whately - round 1 is junk time. The boys can turn everything around but it's too early to experiment with the players just yet. Here are the facts: 1) Davey isn't a midfielder's a...hole. He doesn't have a clue. Put the boy back in the square. 2) Miller is better as a forward, that's where he's played his better games. 3) Dutchy must play - there are too many tall forwards out there that need a strong tall attending to them. 4) Petterd is not a backman, he must play on the wing. 5) Fast track Frawley - he looked quite good last year. Colin Garland is not ready. 6) Bruce and Green must be given free licence to roam, don't make them tag, they are too creative. Also, a couple of other things: Will Bartram, Rivers and Whelan ever play again? and... Hello Deefan!!! How is my sparring partner travelling? Take care, Jumbo
