  1. Have a footy debate - don't be rude. What do you base your facts on? Stats? They can be meaningless. 40 hitouts that miss a target? Not good enough. Bombing it long? Not good enough. Not manning up? Not good enough.
  2. I was alluding to the fact that Stef's development has stalled. Cox was recruited but everyone thought that the gods had gone crazy - the rest is history. Stef, too, is a superb athlete who isn't going to make it.
  3. Don't think so - Beamer is a chance to break his world record 19 clearances if Jamar is in the ruck. If Stef pops in there, he becomes almost ineffectual. Time for Casey, get some junk time into Gawn whilst Stef learns to play to a structure, rather than the U13's.
  4. ....who then went to Collingwood and hardly played a game. Different era, hard to compare. I'm frustrated by Stef's lack of development. Look at Cox of West Coast - when he was drafted he could hardly bounce the ball and 3 or 4 years later he was the league's most dominant ruckman, culminating in a flag in '06. Someone coach the kid, or delist him. At the moment, he has no clue about AFL footy.
  5. I know, you got me - moth to a light.
  6. You're baiting me aren't you? This player needs to go back to Casey for the rest of the year. Absolute shocker.
  7. For all intents and purposes, footballers need to be coached. It starts with the basics: Make sure you're wearing long stops - it's slippery Take the ball on your chest as it's slippery Don't handball the ball at a team mate who's 3 metres away, surrounded by 3 opponents at 400 miles an hour If you can't pick up the ball, kick it off the ground - it's slippery Zone and man up, no cheap disposals. FFS, watch the ball onto your foot Keep the ball away from Stef Martin. If this guy wants to improve, he needs to be dropped as NOT ONCE did he try to tap it to Sylvia or Moloney. No more cheap games. Then again, it's all about 2013
  8. Open up the age bracket - people over 35 are not senile....and some don't do Facebook, Twitter, et al
  9. You know, some people will actually think you're serious....
  10. 1. Dustin Martin 2. Matthew Pridis 3. Adam Goodes
  11. I was talking about his leg - is it true that it still 'aches' after heavy use? It must be playing on his mind. You've seen him play more than me - does he have the desire to make it?
  12. Yep, this is also a mindset that the coaching staff need to generate and if they cannot do that, the admin need to look at someone who can make the passion to compete a non-negotiable part of the MFC.
  13. Aren't most of these blokes injured as well? Blease is still struggling, Gawn is developing, Strauss has been tried and found wanting....I agree with the desperation of your post but I'm worried where the improvement will come from.
  14. Newton, to me, was a surprise packet. Make him accountable - he is fit and aggressive. Use him.
  15. I think comparisons from different generations aren't fair. Jimmy was a freak, not just because of his amazing mental strength, but his willingness to do anything to succeed. Stef Martin doesn't have the motor, makes poor decisions and doesn't play to his limited strengths. Having said that, he needs to be coached on zoning and positioning. All those who have ejaculated their disapproval at my posts, I appreciate where you're coming from, but yesterday would have been a perfect day to bring in another youngster - remember, 2013 is the goal.
  16. I couldn't agree more - yesterday, his hesitation was further compounded as he had good, clean kicks run past him, begging for the ball and he bombs a finger breaking floater to???? Sorry, his development time is up and the FD will need to make a tough call soon.....
  17. The Jeff White approach? That's finished - the centreline across the circle put an end to that. White's leap needed a run-up but the AFL messed with the rules, as there were too many knee injuries. I'm sorry, I didn't see what you saw in Stef Martin yesterday - he is a list clogger. The other boys you mentioned...well, they're stars and can play
  18. Hmmm - Stef Martin. Starts on one of the least intimidating ruckman in the AFL and gets completely pantsed. I can't look when the ball is in his hands, especially when a better ball user is running with him and he won't give it over. Couldn't keep up with Goldy, has no idea about zone, doesn't run into space and couldn't catch a cold. But, I'm being a bit tough - I don't know why we're all lamenting. We're not good enough........yet! Remember 2013???
  19. RN, I'll respond to your post as I ignore those who are rude and have no substance to their post. Granted, the big fella might need more development time (like Jamar I suppose) but there's been no....presence. He hasn't shown in any of his games that he is capable of being intimidatory with his skills or his work rate. The club will probably play him because they're desperate, but I'm not a fan.
  20. I don't understand why so many posters consider Stef Martin to be a walk up start - poor skills under pressure, low conversion rate when he gets his opportunities, lacks footy 'smarts' (obviously not ATAR score smarts, though!) He's a big guy with great presence that plays timid. I don't think he's done enough to get a recall. Try someone else - remember, we're building towards an assault on the big one in 2013..........
  21. Can someone please tell me what Stef Martin brings to the field? Poor awareness, shocking skills and no good when the ball hits the ground. I might be too critical, but I'm sick of the club keeping these 'projects' on the list.
  22. Pagan's Paddock! Every forward plays defensive side of the square and we leave ONE man down there....you know who I'm talking about. The freak could kick 150 goals.
  23. Not Jones - he was saved by yesterday's effort. 2 or 3 blinding kicks that hit targets from 50. Bennell, on the other hand....half the time I'm not sure if he's playing or not, then he does something mercurial. A real enigma.
  24. Paul Roos still talks about the Swans in 1st person - 'we', 'us'. He doesn't objectify much. Easy to kick a club after a young list got belted by Hawthorn's big bodies. Roos' game plan was to have a final score line of 3 23 to 2 17 with 32 players around the ball. Sorry, I can't stand him.
  25. Aaron needs to play on the half back flank (in old terms) and become the general of the kick outs. This releases Jack Grimes, who is not a great kick, but he's very creative and knows how to get the pill. Davey streaming out of the square, hitting someone in the middle of the ground is more damaging than having him in the pocket - that's Aussie's domain.
