  1. Are you kidding rfpc? Cross has to play based on both form and the fact that he will coming up against his former team.
  2. 6. Dawes 5. Vince 4. Viney 3. Tyson 2. Jetta 1. Bail More often than not over the last few years I've been scratching around among the 'triers' and 'effort players' to find players worthy of the last few slots. This week I struggled to fit them all in. How refreshing that is! Apologies to JKH, Jamar, Grimes and Peddersen, and probably others Who I have missed.
  3. 6. Dunn 5. Pederson 4. M . Jones 3. Cross. 2. Vince 1. N Jones.
  4. Congratulations to all three. They have clearly earned the respect of team-mates and coaches alike, and so it seems, Demonlanders as well. Now, there's a vote of confidence!
  5. On the contrary, how about we look at the bigger picture, not just next week?
  6. This from the MFC website seems pertinent: Roos said it was a positive that his side was still able to remain in the hunt, without doing a lot of things right. “The positive is that we were only eight points down and we didn’t really have a lot of good players to be honest,” he said. “So that’s positive from one sense, but frustrating in another sense. I find it hard to disagree with these sentiments, and I reckon most around here would see it the same way.
  7. 6. N Jones - all heart, no fear. Our champ. 5. Dawes - wasteful, but the good far outweighs the bad 4. Viney - busted a gut for us today. Will only get better as the season progresses. 3. Frawley - great work-rate, but needs to hold more grabs 2. Cross - worked very hard against the odds 1. Grimes - building into form. Hard and reliable.
  8. I'm inspired by Flanagan's article about Nathan Jones. If the other 21 play with Nathan's heart, we beat GCS, no questions!
  9. Another article by the very best, about our current best. Both true leaders in their field.
  10. JKH's footy 'nouse' (quickness of mind) makes up for any (perceived) lack of leg speed.
  11. Well done Demons! Victory over that mob is the highlight of a most honorable and courageous week for our Club. I see signs that our culture is slowly but surely turning under Paul Roos.
  12. 6. N.Jones 5. J. Frawley 4. T.McDonald 3. J.Grimes 2. R Bail 1. J Spencer Too many apologies to mention, but suffice to say it was a great team effort with no passengers! How long has it been since we have been able to put our hands on our red and blue hearts make that claim??
  13. I've been an eternal optimist throughout my 60 odd years supporting Melbourne, but right now its impossible to see even the slightest glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I feel so damned disheartened, it's depressing.
  14. 6. Tyson 5. Pedersen 4. Howe 3. Cross 2. McDonald 1. N. Jones
  15. Inspirational!! I dream of the day when each and every one of his team-mates can take a leaf out of his book..
  16. I'll be taking a keen interest in all the Dees, but I will have a particular focus on Hunt and Riley. I have my fingers crossed that they will be an important part of our future.
  17. The final team will be very interesting. I don't expect Barry to be included, but who of Kennedy-Harris, Kent, Byrnes, Trengove, Evans and Blease will make the final 22?
  18. I reckon we will improve slowly in 2014 as the game plan settles, confidence starts to inch its way back, and we (hopefully) get something like our best 22 on the park. However the tide will only truly turn when we get rid of some of the flotsam and jetsam that has been drifting around the place for way too long.
  19. 6 - N Jones 5 - Tyson 4 - Dunn 3 - Cross 2 - Terlich 1 - Byrnes
  20. Mrs 'oldfart and I will be driving down from Canberra for the game. Please let it be a win!
  21. 6. Watts (best game for the MFC. Paul Roos might be just what he needed to reach his full potential) 5. N.Jones (typical Jonesy, we've seen it all before) 4. Dunn (a vital cog in defence) 3. Vince (won plenty of ball but disposal was wayward at times) 2. M.Jones (probably recruited as a 'stop gap' mid, but on that performance he will be around for a while) 1. Trengove (if only he could regain his old zip and kicking penetration)
  22. I'll lead off with the obvious ones: was Hogan running as foreshadowed? Dawes? Clark? If yes, how hard were these three working? ..... any signs of discomfort etc? Of the others, who were the standouts, and why? Presumably those playing tomorrow had a very light run. Cheers in anticipation!
