  1. Agree steve. Call me a naive old fart, but I put a high price on loyalty.
  2. It's much harder to change a poor culture that has become ingrained. For example, I doubt that Roos was devastated when Sylvia parted company wit the MFC, and Ross Lyon doesn't seem to have worked wonders with him at Freo.
  3. Aw well ... it was a very 'tongue in cheek' post anyway!
  4. I think this could work for the Dees! Trade Stewart in, and immediately on-trade him to Gold Coast for any one of their mids. They can pay him whatever they like!
  5. Agree, this is why we need to take a punt on Malceski, to give us a couple of years to develop our own with the requisite skills and football nouse.
  6. 6. Jetta - what an absolute revelation! Work your magic on a few more Roosy! 5. Tyson - a star in the making. They can't tag everyone. 4. Dunn - sure and composed, as he has been for most of the year.. 3. Jamar - gave our mids first use and clunked some telling marks. Loved his physicality. 2. N.Jones - typical (wysiwyg) game from the skip. 1. Garland - signs that he's working back to the form of 2013.
  7. No, but they are the reason we don't have more than 16 points!
  8. I'm fuming ..... and not because my team let another close one slip. Both teams made plenty of errors, but not as many as the idiots who were supposed to be controlling the game. 90% of line-ball decisions went against us, and they are supposed not to be influenced by crowd noise. Total and utter bulldust!!
  9. Agree we would be laughing (giggling maybe!), but I can't see it happening. Realistically, I reckon the best we could hope for is a direct swap, our early first rounder for one of the four you mention. None of them have had the injury issues like those that clouded Tyson's last year at GWS. I'd like a package deal that included (preferably) Sheil plus Cam McCarthy. McCarthy is a tall, high marking forward from WA who was drafted in 2013. He was touted as a top 10 pick, but he missed the u.18 Champs because of a broken leg and slid a bit. He hasn't set the world on fire for GWS ressies, but that's understandable coming off a broken leg. There is a long queue of tall forwards ahead of him at GWS so he might be interested in a move, but I reckon the WA clubs will be watching him closely. Maybe he's a mate of Hogans. Edit: typo
  10. Seems like it's progressed beyond the 'informal chat' then.
  11. Hird fesses up and is lauded by the football world for his integrity. Tania says 'this is exactly what I've been trying to say all along".
  12. Leaving the 'backwoods' of GWS, and moving to the 'centre of the AFL universe' would also be attractive to many young kids.
  13. I read this thread and the other related one with interest. So many wise heads contributing and still I'm none the wiser (lol)! My two bobs worth is that I'm very, very confident that Roos will make the right call. He has a proven record as an astute judge of football people, and he won''t accept a successor who will permit the foundation he is building to crumble.
  14. I expect Blease to get his chance before the season ends, but unfortunately, I think we all know what we will get.
  15. 6. Viney - very good in a couple of roles ...... just love his endeavour! 5. Riley - something to work with .... with a big pre-season he will be a regular in 2015 4. Howe - reasonably solid at both ends .... at least gave Geelong something to think about 3. McKenzie - seemed to play his role as a tagger 2. Pedersen - reward for effort 1. Dawes - ditto
  16. Very good signing given the state our list. Will add value even if he doesn't play a game.
  17. Very true, but the opposite of hope is hopeless or no hope. Both of these are very apt descriptions of MFC over the last 8 years, and many of us have still come close to losing our sanity! ........... so what's the difference? We might as well cling to a smidgen of hope if we can!
  18. Good changes for the forecast weather conditions. Terlich the sub?
  19. Never heard of the show, but if there's big dollars coming his way, maybe someone should let Peter Jackson know. (lol)
  20. Dom is progressing steadily, as shown by the fact that at this time last year he was struggling to break into Casey seniors. Roosy obviously thinks he has significant upside and I'm very happy to back his judgement on this.
  21. If Frawley was a 'stayer', he'd stop stuffing around and take a leaf out of Tommy Mac's book!
  22. Tom is an integral part of our spine right now, and a key 'building block' for the future. He is young and developing and will only get better with experience, continued tutelage from Roos and Co. and as we accumulate a bit of talent around him.
  23. I agree findee. Kent is one of maybe a dozen on our current list who I see as central to our future, and (dare I say it), finals prospects. He has a bit of 'x factor', and I can see him turning big games for us in a couple of years. I know I'm a dreamer but ......... Edit: typo
  24. 6. Mcdonald # 5. M Jones * 4. N.Jones * 3. Viney * 2. Kent * 1. Vince * # clearly our best, and maybe in the top half dozen on the ground * worked hard ....... good in short patches
  25. I agree C&B, and Paul Roos would have been reinforcing your point all week. I've highlighted the key word in your post.
