  1. I totally agree Bobby. It's actually an interesting question: Jetta, Pedersen, Dunn or Bail for most improved under Roosy? Fair to say that they are all former 'fringe' players who are now thriving. Roos is an absolute master at this.
  2. 'Doc' Roet would have been an automatic selection at CHB in that team, so I'm guessing that he was injured for that match. There's an interesting story / myth about Doc. who earned his nickname because he was studying medicine while playing for the Dees. The story goes that his opponent had been concussed the previous week, and Doc got into his head early about the dangers of playing football the week after suffering concussion. The obvious conclusion is that his opponent had a very poor game. Not only was Doc's sledging effective, but 50 years on it seems that his medical advice was also spot on. Nice of Doc to be so thoughtful towards his opponent!
  3. I don't disagree for a second biggestred ....... but I take no joy from it either.
  4. I hate Essendon with a passion, but for the good of the game, I hate this whole stinking episode even more.
  5. I dunno about this one, but Paul Roos does!
  6. 6. N. Jones 5. Dunn 4. Vince 3. Petersen 2. Jetta 1. Watts
  7. I agree mono. I expected that maybe they would alternate in and out of the team, playing a similar role, for a combined total of perhaps a dozen games for the year (if lucky!). As it is they are keeping a string of more experienced players out of the team. The future is looking brighter and brighter.
  8. Spence has a strong work ethic and we've seen a heap of improvement over his time at the Club. He still has a way to go, but he carried our rucks competently early in the year when our other ruckmen were injured. Further, I'm not sure we could have traded anyone better without giving up more than we will be prepared to part with. Well worth holding onto imo, and he wouldn't be commanding a huge pay packet.
  9. "now I just want to play finals". Great stuff Dunny. Thanks for the timely decision .......... now its time to enjoy the good times!
  10. Exactly ..... and the absence of Maxwell should work in our favour.
  11. I'll leave it to Roosy and our selected 22 to continue on their established path of continuous improvement, but I'll also assume that the question posed in the header refers to the collective 'we'. If 'we' all get along to the 'G' on Monday arvo, and match the noise made by the 'filth' supporters, I reckon we can help lift our boys over the line. I'll be going home hoarse, but be saving just enough during the game to belt out a few healthy renditions of the Grand Old Flag after the siren.
  12. Just viewed today's media conference on DeeTV : Media conference: Chris Dawes He had them 'eating out of his hand'.
  13. Agree Chippy. Nothing can completely overcome the pain for '58, but beating them any time is a nice analgesic.
  14. Our roar will lift Howie to new heights!
  15. Take the GWS Dom Tyson, add a new environment; an injury free run; Paul Roos, George Stone and a touch of Mark Jamar and you have what we see today ie. a budding star with a heap of upside. I love what Dom has achieved to date, but it's the footballer that he might become that has me salivating.
  16. Presumably they stick together when the going gets hot (unlike Melbourne in the recent past).
  17. I love the current emblem and all that it stands for, but I also think there's a strong case for a logo that will be attractive to the kids who will form our future membership base. An angry, fire eating Demon would surely have more appeal to the youngsters. Like others have said, there is a place for both an official emblem as well as what I would call a logo, to be used on badges and in newspapers etc..
  18. JB was always on the fringes at Melbourne, but we can only speculate on how his career with us might have turned out under our current coaching regime. Nev Jetta was recruited in the same draft as Jamie, and probably showed less promise until very recently.
  19. RIP Ralph. One of our many unsung heroes from the Glory Days.
  20. Nightmares to pleasant dreams in a few months, and I'm reveling in it!
  21. ................. and Sidebottom.
  22. Based in progress so far, we'd be mad to book holidays for September 2015.
  23. Mine was the 'mark' awarded to Shultz in their FP. He had the ball in hand for a mili-second and at no stage controlled it. He goaled from that bit of charity..
  24. 6. Dunn 5. Tyson 4. Pedersen 3. Jetta 2. Jamar 1. Cross Plenty of strong contributions from others including Jones x 2, Vince and Frawley and some mouthwatering cameos from Salem.
  25. I'm with you Jack. The nervous tension is building, and my gut tells me that we are in this with a real chance. Jeez it's a great feeling ......... and certainly one I hadn't experienced for years prior the last few weeks
